Lost in a Lost World ~ Lilja & Sam
inlucisabsentiam:
“Even if you do, barefoot outside isn’t all that bad. Just watch the ticks and such. I try to keep plants they don’t like around, but they do try to crawl on me sometimes.” She commented.
Lilja grinned. “Of course. Wanted it to be a surprise, then you mentioned dogs. Locke and Shock are my boys. They love to swim and stuff with me.” The two corgis heard Sam speak and looked up at him. Studying him for a moment before moving carefully over. Sniffing at his hand and sneezing one right after the other. Then they proceeded to sniff about Sam and eventually jump on him for pets. “They’re good boys too. I take them to the market with me on weekends, and all they do is stay behind the booth, sleep, and chew on their bones.”
The Hunter had to resist the urge to start petting right away.  He didn’t want to startle the pups, after all.  “They’re just... I mean... adorable.  That’s the only word that fits,” he told her with a chuckle as the two corgis finally allowed him to pet them.  Sam’s hands ran over their fur, scratching between ears, and under chins.  At the mention of a market, he looked up at Lilja with curious interest.  “You have a stall?  At a market?”  He looked around a little, as if something might tell him the answer to his next question.  “What kinds of things do you sell?”

inlucisabsentiam:
Sam groaned as the woman’s hand latched into his hair, tugging just hard enough to sting - a little pain to go with the pleasure always seemed to get him harder faster. Especially since... no... NO. He wasn’t thinking about that. Not here, and definitely not now. Â
He needed to be inside of her... needed to lose himself... needed the feeling of hope that being with Lilja always seemed to give him. He could be better. As long as she believed in him... wanted him... he could be anything. Â
As the blonde pulled him down for another kiss, Sam pushed her legs wider, adjusted his position, and then slid into her with a relieved groan. Oh, god, she felt good... she always did. Despite his need, Sam’s thrusts started out slow and sensual, mimicking their continued kiss. Using one hand to keep himself braced above her, the other shifted to squeeze at Lilja’s breast, the rough pad of his thumb rubbing slowly back and forth across her nipple.

The blonde smiled, picking up her sandals from the floorboard before getting out of the car. A wave of her hand and the few things she brought back from her brother’s floated from the back seat and onto her arm. “I’m glad you like. The lake is right behind the house. Got a small pier and everything. Canoes and kayaks stay in the garage.” She nodded to a small building nearby. “Let’s get you settled in, yeah? Then I’ll make that dinner I promised.”
She walked up the pathway, fishing her keys from her sling bag with the sandal-handing hand. Standing at the door for a moment while she fumbled. “Got it.” Lilja unlocked the door and opened it, letting Sam inside before herself. She sat her shoes down in the small cabinet by the door, filled with different ones from tennis to hiking to climbing shoes. “Same thing with his place. I like shoes off. Don’t have to if you don’t want to, it just saves a hair bit of cleaning.” With a bit of magic, the bags she had floated to the living room. Each item taking a mind of their own and placing themselves where they needed to be.
Looking up at Sam, she grinned. “Now… Watch this.” She whispered. Putting her thumb and finger in her mouth, she whistled loudly. Echoing in the cozy house. What sounded like a stampede could be heard upstairs, followed by a lot of barking. “You two are the worst guard dogs!” Lilja laughed, watching a pair of corgis come barreling down the stairs. Kneeling down to pet the two dogs, she laughed as they yapped and licked at her. Attempting to climb all over her. “I know I know. Mommy’s home. Sam, meet Locke, the blackish one, and Shock, the blondie.”
Sam followed behind the woman as they entered her cabin, marveling at her magic openly.  It would take some getting used to - Lilja’s casual use of her abilities, but it didn’t bother him - not the way it might bother other Hunters.  It only helped him to continually confirm something he’d believed for a long time - that not everything in the supernatural realm was out to get them.
With a nod, he toed off his sneakers.  “I don’t mind,” he told her with an understanding smile.  “Besides... I don’t see myself leaving this place all that often.  Why would I need shoes... right?”
At the sound of barking Sam’s head shot up, a huge grin appearing on his face at the sight of two corgis galumphing down the stairs.  “You... you do have dogs!  You were holding out on me!” he teased, laughing.  And for a small, brief moment Sam managed to forget what had brought him here.  Kneeling down in the floor as Lilja introduced the two dogs, the Hunter held out his hands for them to sniff.

Sam laughed as Lilja spoke. That was one of the things he loved about sex with her. It was never just sex. She made their time together both amusing and exciting. He’d had that with Jess... but never anyone else... not until now. And he’d forgotten how much he loved it... missed it.
His cock twitched eagerly as her clothes disappeared, eyes roaming across her nude form, admiring her body as she pulled him forward and wrapped a hand around his girth, stroking slowly. Sam moaned, hips bucking at the sensation. One of his hands moved between their bodies, fingers teasing across her dripping folds as the Hunter leaned in to kiss Lilja thoroughly.
Barely pulling away from her lips, he murmured, “Mmm... your hands know me so well.” As he hardened steadily in her grasp, Sam’s finger moved to circle around her clit, flicking across it with the rhythm of her own hand.  “But we both want more than this... don’t we?”

“They’re…what, Sam? I mean…don’t tell me unless you’re ready, but if you do want to start training I do need to know.” His hesitance worried her. Had he sold his soul for his powers? She hadn’t looked at him on the other plane yet, to see his aura. It was something dangerous to do in a moving car, what she saw or not.
“Like I said, once he’s over himself.” She smiled. “Give it time.”
Lilja guided him down the winding roads, turning off the main highway to smaller roads winding through the forest. Soon coming to a small community hidden away and nestled next to a lake. Directing him to turn into a house on the end of the lake with the most property. A nicely sized home with a wrap around porch and stone path leading up the gentle hill to the front door. “Just park next to the Subaru in the gravel that needs a bath.” The mage laughed, motioning to her dirty car.
Sam sighed and shook his head.  “Maybe... maybe later…?  When I’m not driving…”  When she could escape from him safely if she felt the need to.  He ran a hand nervously through his hair and focused on the road instead.
When they pulled up in front of the house, the Hunter couldn’t help gaping... just a bit.  It was beautiful - the house, and the forest, and the mountains! And he was going to live here…?  With her?!  He didn’t deserve this... not any of it.  But maybe... for at least a little while... Sam could pretend?  If he didn’t fully accept it, then perhaps the Fates would let him keep this life.  Maybe…
“This is amazing,” he said in a soft voice, following her instructions and pulling up next to the dusty car and turning the engine off.  “In fact,” the Hunter replied, looking over to Lilja with a small grin.  “About the only thing that could make it better would be a dog... or maybe two…”

Sam wanted the mindlessness she was offering… even if it only lasted a little while.  He’d take whatever he could get… anything to ease the memories… to remind him that he had reasons to be here… reasons to stay.  "What if I prefer other ways to warm my bones?“ he murmured, leaning down to kiss her again.  His hands shifted lower, massaging at her ass and pulling the woman more tightly against him.  God, he loved the way Lilja felt pressed against him like this.  It always felt so good… so right.
Lilja hummed softly, about to answer the hunter when lips caught hers. So desperate. His groping drew a moan from her. Fingers running up into his hair. Nails scratching lightly at his scalp. “What have you got in mind, Sam?” She purred, pulling back just enough to speak. Shifting, rocking against him. Enticing him to claim what he wanted from her. A wicked smile on her lips.

inlucisabsentiam :
“Whether or not what, Sam?” She asked. Wondering why his voice trailed off. Was he worried about the hunter aspect? Or something more.
The mage shrugged softly, offering him a smile. “Hey!” She laughed. “Rasputin puts on airs for others to think he’s some secret serial killer sometimes, I swear. He’s a good man at heart, even if he questions it himself sometimes. I’m sure you two would get along swimmingly.” Lilja saw a road sign pass them by and sat up. “Alright, we’re almost home now. Roads can be a bit confusing from here, but trust me.” She smiled.
The Hunter glanced over at her, before quickly looking back to the road.  “It’s... it has to do with my powers... how I got them.  I’m... they’re…”  He sighed softly.  If anyone could accept the truth, Sam suspected she could.  Lilja... she was different... special.  Something about her... about her kindness... if anyone could forgive and understand, the brunet was somehow certain she would.  And yet the words still wouldn’t come.
Sam listened as she talked about her brother... about the man questioning himself.  Maybe she was right... although an understanding over mutual self-loathing hardly seemed the best way to make a connection.  But maybe it was understanding that they needed?  “I’m not against it,” he finally replied.  “I just don’t want to force it... making him think I’m just trying to make up for the way I acted…”
Nodding at her words, the Hunter replied, “I do... just tell me where to go.”  The area they were in now was almost breathtakingly beautiful.  Not that he was surprised.  It suited her - this place.  There was a sense of serenity about it, something Lilja seemed to embody.

Sam didn’t argue with her… even if he didn’t believe it.  The fact that she believed it… that was enough for him.  For now.  Instead of saying anything, he stole a soft kiss instead.
“I know it is,” he replied with a low laugh, pulling her just a little tighter against him, giving his hips a lazy roll.  “But I wouldn’t want to ruin the soaps you’re making by… distracting you…”
Sam tried to imagine all the things Lilja was promising him… and then snow, too.  “Do you think it will?  That’d be amazing!”  The former Hunter listened as she described glogg to him.  “Hmm… sounds interesting, at least.  I’d definitely be down for trying some.”
The softest groan left her when she felt his hips roll against her. “Magic, darling. I can set them up real fast to do themselves. If anything, I pipe them later.” She chuckled. Magic was a convenient thing. She didn’t use it all too often in the house, but sometimes it was just what was needed.
“It usually does, but you never know around here.” She laughed, leaning up to kiss him. “Pretty much boozy mulled wine. It’ll be nice to warm up the bones. Promise.”
Sam wanted the mindlessness she was offering... even if it only lasted a little while. Â He'd take whatever he could get... anything to ease the memories... to remind him that he had reasons to be here... reasons to stay. “Well…if you ever wish to… I have the books, and the approval from the Earth apparently to train a Druid. They just have to be tested by a friend of mine and bound by them as well. Those bits I don’t have the authorization to do.” She shrugged a shoulder. It was an offer, and she knew the world needed more Druids, just as it needed more mages. Something that was thwarted often by demons now, taking souls and turning mages into witches.
“Like I said, it shouldn’t happen, but just in case. Better to know ahead of time than the situation arise and you be confused.” She said. Glad she had blond hair, unlike her brother. It had become a surprising indicator of something going wrong with her magic. Something they had learned when she bound his magic.
“There is no shame in that!” She smiled. “Not at all. Better to be wise in both senses than an expert in one and ignorant in the other.” Lilja nodded her head as he talked of the dragur. Giving his hand a gentle squeeze when he mentioned the books. “Of course. You’ll be living with me. There are some I have locked away, to protect others from the text inside. Plus I keep the Druid texts for the training down there. I have my own journal of druid recipes I made from them.” She paused for a moment, her smile softening. “You know… Once Ras gets over his mistrust, I think you two should sit down and talk. He’s a collector of books, and other things. His boyfriend too. Something you two might bond over.”
“Actually... I think I might…” Sam replied, voice soft and contemplative.  “At least, I’m curious... about what would be involved... about whether or not…”  He hesitated.  Whether or not someone who was tainted could even make the attempt. Â
Nodding as she spoke, he replied, “I hope it never happens, but I like knowing.  I don’t want there to be a time where I can’t help you because I don’t know what to do.  It’s always better to know and be prepared.”
The Hunter nodded in agreement.  “Yeah, I know... I just... it’s not the way I was raised.  Old habits and all that, I guess…”  He glanced over at Lilja curiously when she mentioned him eventually getting along with her brother.  “You mean like two or three centuries from now?” he joked, offering her a soft smile to show there was no bitterness in it.  “Seriously, though... I’d like that... when he’s ready…”

“I’m only as good as you deserve.” She whispered. Life had been oddly quiet and lonely until Sam came about in a bombastic way. Lilja hadn’t realized that she missed having someone else around. Someone besides the corgis. She was able to help an aching soul, and Sam was an amazing individual. If only she could get him to see that as well.
A laugh left her. “You know the offer is usually up. Rarely is it not.” The idea was a nice one. Be something to take his mind off of things, if just for the moment. A fun way to start the morning.
“Perfect will be if it snows.” She smiled, humming softly from his touch. The blonde chuckled with his question. “It’s a type of mulled wine from Scandinavia. I do burgundy, port, and aquavit in mine, with the usual spices and almonds. Aquavit’s a Norwegian spirit.”
Sam didn’t argue with her... even if he didn’t believe it.  The fact that she believed it... that was enough for him.  For now.  Instead of saying anything, he stole a soft kiss instead.

inlucisabsentiam:
“Anyone can become a Druid, it just takes a lot of studying to get to the point you can be bound to the Earth. As far as I know, there’s no other limitations or anything.” She said. “I’ve thought about it, but being of mage heritage, I’m better as an opposite to a Druid. Because I have that natural inclination to the other world, and can walk inside various types of magic. While Druids can only do that. Earth magic. Mine comes from within me, and some from the lifelines of the planet, the leylines.”
Lilja nodded her head. “Right. It’s very rare I pass out now-a-days. A nosebleed might happen here or there, but those can happen if I don’t take the allergy potion I made too.” She grinned at the slight irony. “Imagine that, a mage allergic to ragweed.” The mage shrugged a shoulder from his question. “Care for me like you would any passed out person. Keep me hydrated, though there are teas that I’ll show you how to make that help with the hunger and metabolism. If I’m out for longer than a week, which should never happen, then call my brother. Or…” She wrapped her finger around a loose strand of her blonde hair. “If this begins to go black… That means something very, very serious. He’ll know what to do if it happens.”
A smile broke out on her face as she shifted, pulling one leg underneath her other. “You do love asking questions, don’t you Sam?” She laughed. “I like that! They’re a Scandinavian creature. Dream eaters, essentially. Usually in the form of shriveled corpses, though they can shift to different forms. My brother and I fought one in the form of a large black dog.” Lilja reached over, claiming Sam’s hand in a gentle hold. “I think you’re going to love my cellar. Although half is wines and preserves, I keep a lot of older texts down there. Ones I don’t want displayed in my actual house for visitor’s sakes.”
“That... actually sounds kind of cool,” Sam admitted.  “...being a Druid, I mean…”  He’d always liked nature, and the outdoors... and maybe that would give him something to focus on.  He was tired of Hunting, despite the good he knew it did.  Things had changed with Dean’s death.  So maybe Sam should change, too?  Then again... he wondered if the demon blood he’d been fed as a child would affect his attempt.  Was it foolish to hope he could escape from what had happened to him all those years ago?
He chuckled as Lilja joked about her ragweed allergy, but his expression became more serious as she talked about the potential side effects of her magic.  “I can remember all of that,” he agreed, voice soft.  Like hell if he was going to allow something else to happen to someone on his watch.  No.  Never again.
The hint of a blush tinged Sam’s cheeks as she teased him.  “I like learning... and reading,” he admitted.  “There’s all kinds of crazy stuff stuck in my head.  Mostly occult…”  He trailed off for a moment as her hand wrapped once more around his.  “I thought the dragur sounded familiar...something I’d read about before…”  His brows arched at the mention of old books, a soft laugh leaving the Hunter’s lips.  “You’re probably right.  There’s just something about old books... I’d love the chance to see what you’ve got.”

Once she was settled and he was in, Sam started up the Impala, and pulled back out onto the road.  “Okay, yeah - I think I can understand that.”  Even though he had no control, using his powers always left him feeling tired and hungry and drained afterwards.  “Druidry?  How does that work exactly?  And how long does it take for you to recharge if you use it up?”  Maybe he was asking too many questions at once.  But the Hunter couldn’t seem to help himself.  Research had been a way to bury himself in something other than his emotions for so long.  It helped Sam to focus…and kept him from thinking too hard about everything he’d lost.
“It’s a long process, and you have to choose to do it. You’re bound to the Earth and become kind of a protector of it against darker forces. You can tap her energy at any time, and speak to the tectonic plates themselves. I’ve talked to a Druid before, and they say they speak in their own language and are hard to even speak to sometimes.” She explained. “It’s really interesting! A lot of what my brother and I know about herbs, we learned from a Druid in England.” Lilja slipped her sandals off again, and crossed her legs.
“That really depends on how much rest I get and such. Normally, the spells I use day to day use little energy now, but stronger spells, if I don’t practice them, can drain me quickly and it’s taken a few days of sleep to recover before.” The mage laughed softly. “That was from my last run in with demons, but I’d practiced some before then, so it didn’t take nearly as long as the first fight against a dragur I had. I was out for a week, but Rasputin and I were young. When I passed out, he came in and finished the job.”
“That... actually sounds kind of cool…” Sam admitted as the woman answered his question.  “Can just anyone do that... or do you already have to have some magic of your own?  Or are their other limitations?”  Like say, having demon blood running through your veins?  Why couldn't he bring himself to say that part out loud…?  Was it shame? Or something else?
“So if you do something difficult and pass out for a day or two I shouldn’t panic, right?” the Hunter asked with a soft chuckle.  “Is there anything I can do when that happens?  To make things easier for when you wake up?  And at what point should I panic and get your brother involved?”  He just wanted to make sure all bases were covered.  Lilja was helping him, after all, the least he could do was try to understand and help her in return.  “Dragur…?”  Did he know that term?  Sam felt like he should. And was she getting annoyed with all of his questions yet? He couldn’t tell...

inlucisabsentiam:
Her heart warmed with his words. Settling closer to him. Tightening her one arm around him. “Because I don’t like seeing you hurt. I care about you. I want to help you.” Darkness surrounded him, was clawing for him, and damn if she would let anyone fall to that again. Especially someone who had lost so much in his lifetime.
Lilja chased his lips for a moment, eyes still closed. Bumping her nose against his in a small eskimo kiss. “It would be a perk of the morning.” She huffed a small laugh, looking to him. Those hazel eyes. Seeing inside them. That lingering taint on her magic from the dream eaters. Seeing inside him. His fears. His nightmares. Her hands moved to cup his cheeks. “You’ll have those, Samuel Winchester. We’ll get ourselves a tree, and decorate the inside of the house. Make you some glogg and sit by the fire. Watch the lights twinkle on the tree. Curl up together.” She smiled, warm and adoring. “We’ll make cookies, watch movies. You’ll be sick of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Fleet Foxes, and Bing Crosby come Christmas Day.” She kissed him sweetly for a moment. Barely pulling back enough to speak. “And I’ll hold you if you cry. Run my fingers through your hair and comfort your aching heart. Because it’s okay.”
He didn’t deserve her... or the help she offered... but Sam couldn’t bring himself to leave.  The person he’d been after Dean’s death... he didn’t want to go back to that.  So he stayed.  He felt so selfish for the decision... but couldn’t deny how much he cared for Lilja, too.  And she wasn’t just a replacement.  She was... one of the most amazing women he’d ever met... and having her in his life was all he wanted now.  “You’re too good to me,” the former Hunter murmured, unable to voice all that he was feeling.
A laugh left him at her words.  “Keep offering and I’m not going to say no,” Sam replied, feeling himself stir at the idea of using the kitchen for other things this morning.  As her hands settled on his cheeks and Lilja began to talk about all of the things they’d do for the holidays, he smiled down at her softly.  “That all sounds... perfect,” he told her, hands rubbing slowly up and down the woman’s back.  He really didn’t deserve her... probably never would.  Trying to keep things light, though, he laughed and continued, “But... uh... what is glogg?”

“I’m sorry…” Sam said, voice soft.  It was a difficult thing for him to relate to - having never truly had a home of his own, but he understood sadness, and the longing for things that could never be had.
“I haven’t forgotten,” he argued, offering a small smile.  “I’m still just trying to get used to it…”
How was it she always seemed to know?  No matter how hard the Hunter tried to hide the grief when it bubbled to the surface, Lilja always seemed to sense it.  Was it part of her magic?  Or something else entirely?  “Thanks…I-I think I’d like that.”
With a small nod, Sam moved back towards the car, holding her door open for her again.  “Is that how the magic works?” he asked curiously.  “It burns energy, just like exercise does?”
Lilja followed beside him, nodding and thanking him softly as he got her door again. “To a degree. The more I use, the more energy I burn.” She didn’t mention the times she had done powerful spells and began to bleed. That she had passed out when she bound her brother’s darker magic. Waiting until Sam was in the car as well to continue. “It’s kind of like an invisible extension of my body. Well… Not so invisible to me on certain levels of sight. I don’t tire as easily because I’ve done it for so long. Like a farmer who throws his own hay. At one time, it was hard for them to do, but now it is nothing to them. If I use up all my magic, I have to rest and recharge. Wait for it to come back, unless I do a bit of Druidry.”
It helped Sam to focus...and kept him from thinking too hard about everything he’d lost.

“I would,” he replied, the laughter obvious in his voice.  "But I’d also believe you…and be okay with it.“  He went back to fixing his coffee.  "And you’re right…a distraction might be…good.”  Sam knew it wasn’t wise to hide from what he was feeling…but for now that’s what he needed.  Humming at the feel of her lips on his skin, the former Hunter teased, “Although if you keep doing that I might be more interested in a different distraction entirely…”  Turning, he wrapped his arms around the petite blonde, leaning down to steal a slow, soft kiss.
The witch smiled behind him. “I’d never use magic to do that to you, Sam.” She murmured. It was hard to deal with such loss during this time. One had to prepare to face the beast over running head first into it. A soft laugh left her with the confession. “Would either of us complain?” Lilja looked up at him when he turned. Arms wrapping around his neck as she leaned up into it. Standing on the tips of her toes to do so.
The Hunter chuckled softly. Â "I know...but I...I'm not sure I'd mind if you did." Â The confession was said tentatively...almost as if he felt wrong for admitting it. Â "I mean...I like this. Â Us. Â The fact that you get me...I feel like it doesn't matter how or why...only that you do...and that you want to use it to help me..."
Sam broke their kiss slowly, but kept his forehead pressed to hers. Â "I certainly wouldn't," he whispered. Â "But deep down I know it would only be a temporary fix." Â Besides...Sam couldn't let his feeling about the upcoming holiday ruin hers. Â "How about...you show me what Lilja Anderson's holiday is usually like? Â I want to learn how to share and celebrate this season with you." Â He paused, looking into her eyes as if searching for something. Â "What I really need...are new memories. Â Things to help balance everything in my head..."
