IS THIS LOVEEEEEEEE THAT IM FEEEEELING?!!! IS THIS THE LOVE THAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOOOOOOR
... yes.
Anne teaches Cotton Mathers a lesson on hypocrisy. "Yes...of course. That is what we women are to you. A good woman is half doll, half angel, and a bad woman...
(I do not own the above video. All credit I do bequeath to the original uploader.)
So I finished watching Salem around the 20th November 2017 (And after watching the first few episodes and thinking ‘I can’t get into this’ ended up loving it and being sooo thankful that I continued to watch it.) And I really want to talk about this scene and the incredible acting of not only Seth Gabel but Tamzin Merchant in particular.
In an attempt to complete this without an over-abundance of rambling filtering in I just wanted to talk about how fucking incredible Tamzin was during this scene. What I love about this scene is that we actually get to see the moment Anne physically snaps. We, the audience are able to pinpoint the exact moment when she finally loses her shit and leaps from Cotton’s eternally devoted wife to the raged-consumed, merciless Queen of the Night that we see at the end of the series.
The moment I’m talking about? Is this one:
I mean you can literally see a difference in her compared to the woman she was five seconds prior. Her eyes visibly darken, her body language becomes increasingly erratic and the withering brutality in her voice while exposing Cotton’s myriad of misdemeanors was so startling considering her display of remorse and emotional distress at having hurt her husband only moments beforehand. This scene is so underrated and honestly Tamzin’s entire portrayal of Anne was so compelling and poignant from start to finish and I love how she was able to convey in such a magnificent fashion to the audience the moment Anne Hale had finally had enough and went ‘Fuck this.’
honesty I’m back on my Salem shit lately and I had to root through the archives to dig up this review/micro analysis on THE MOMENT Anne Hale genuinely tilted into the darkness. 🖤
I say it again: Tamzin Merchant (and Seth Gabel, actually, the whole damn cast!), what a powerhouse.

The GRIP, the unrelenting, merciless GRIP that Joyren has on me rn 😮💨…..
im prob just insane but i genuinely think joyren is canon (not endgame but i think its canon they were some sort of thing once) because of THAT scene where karen looks at joyce and then at ted and SIGHS and also because of the general tension around them i can sense it
karen has no idea that the reason why joyce said “karen, thanks for the casserole, but you need to leave” and practically pushed her out of her house in season one is because joyce cares about her and is very protective of her
she wanted to protect karen and holly from something she didn’t even understand yet, but of course, karen didn’t know that
she just saw it as “what a nasty day, my crush was stressed out and kicked me out of her house and now i don’t even get to eat any of the casserole that i brought over and made myself” LOL

New McDuke fic
It's been months since I've written anything. It feels like my confidence in my abilities have completely abandoned me as of late, so I've been to scared of failure to attempt to try writing anything.
I decided tonight I'm fed up of being terrified of doing the thing I love most in this world. And what better way to reignite this fire than to pay homage to Shannen Doherty - our beloved Heather Duke.
Here's what I wrote so far, should I continue this, it will be posted on my a03.
