'Dead Presidents' (dir. by Albert Hughes & Allen Hughes) [1995]
I actually like it when ships hurt each other in long lasting and unforgiveable ways. I like it when they leave vicious, glaring scars. I like when they leave traumas. I like when they stab each other and torture each other and ruin each other’s lives and violate every inch of each other’s values. and I like it when they fucking kill each other permanently dead.
HEY that's MY emotional support morally ambiguous misunderstood full of trauma touch starved yearning for love drenched in blood responsible for numerous atrocities comfort character who is TRYING & u will TREAT them with RESPECT

With the power of adhd you can do two halves of different chores and then sit down again instead of finishing either 👍
This may be mistaken for half-assing it but you would be wrong. I am whole-assing but I've distributed my ass across multiple tasks and didn't finish anything. But. Multiple chores are more done than they were before. Take it or leave it
Jewish children at Hebrew School in Harlem; c.1940s

I’ve seen alot of people arguing in the notes so I looked up the collection this photo originates from. It’s called the “Ethiopian Hebrews Series”, you can find it on the website of The Jewish Museum, here’s a blog post about it that gives some background:
For the month of February, we invited writer Antwaun Sargent to explore works of art in the Jewish Museum collection that celebrate the…
Now, big caveat here, “Ethiopian” (and possibly “Jews” depending on your opinion of Black Hebrews) should really be in quotes because most of these people were Afrocaribbean, not Ethiopian. I’ll give a direct Wikipedia quote to yall:
“The Commandment Keepers Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation of the Living God Pillar & Ground of Truth, Inc. are a group of Black Hebrews, who believe that people of Ethiopian descent represent one of the lost tribes of Israel.[1] They claim King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba as their ancestors, and believe the biblical patriarchs were black.[2] They originated in Harlem, New York City, in 1919.[3]
Most of its members are Afro-Caribbean but since its founding it has had diverse visitors, and occasionally white members. They use the De Sola Pool Spanish and Portuguese prayerbook, the Hertz Chumash, parchment Torah scrolls, and offer standard orthodox Sephardi style Sabbath and Jewish Holy Day services.[4]
Rabbi Wentworth Arthur Matthew created the Commandment Keepers Church of the Living God the Pillar and Ground of Truth and the Faith of Jesus Christ in 1919, with members largely self-identifying as Afro-Caribbean and African American. [5]
Originally a Christian church, the Commandment Keepers, led by Matthew, increasingly deemphasized Jesus Christ’s value and accepted Orthodox Jewish practises. As a result of these doctrinal developments, the group’s name was changed to Commandment Keepers Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation of the Living God Pillar & Ground of Truth.[1][6] The Anti-Defamation League notes that while some other Black Hebrew organizations are anti-semitic or racist, Matthew refrained from anti-semitic or racist teachings, and advocated for kindness between his followers and white Jews.[7]”
So like, not the Bad Kind of Black Hebrew Isrealite but still associated with some fringe historical beliefs… not sure if I would associate them with The Jewish Community in the way I would actual Black converts, Ethiopian Jews, mixed race Jews, and other Actual Black Jews. Like this group seems to have been mostly okay, maybe a bit culty but not more than many other small Black religious organizations of that era. Anyways, I am not a huge fan of thus being circulated without context, because Black Hebrew Isrealites are not the same thing as Black Jews and to confuse them would be ahistorical. There were almost zero actual black jews in the US at the time, aside from perhaps a rare convert who married an Ashkenazi jew in an area where the two communities lived adjacent to each other. But even that was not super common.
Idk, I would love to see Ethiopian Jews and other actual Black Jews get the kind of notes this picture gets, but we’re still working on that I guess
