BIOGRAPHY !
Kira Jones Warwick was named after both her mother and her father, although she always went by the name KJ. She was a rough and tumble kid, always scraping her knees on the sidewalk or falling down the stairs. If not for the guidance of her grandfather's stories, she may very well have ended up in far more dangerous situations—but with a single KJ would you like to hear a story?, he was able to slow her down, get her to sit, and listen. It was that love of stories, particularly fairytales, that led KJ to studying creative writing and eventually getting a job in a publishing house. She remembers the night she met her husband vividly. It was at an author event by her publishing house and he was a prospective author. The two immediately hit it off and on a trip to Vegas the two got married. Unfortunately, after the marriage, the relationship soured and eventually Lewis left on a European book tour and bought a villa in Spain.
Eloise May and Imogen June were born nearly three hours apart. While Eloise was ready, Imogen took her time. KJ named them after both her mom and grandmother—giving them matching middle names May and June based on their birth order. Being a single parent was tough, but she was thankful her publishing house had childcare and she was able to rely on her parents to help. As much as Eloise was a wild card, Imogen was easier. She slept when she was supposed to, ate when she was supposed to, and rarely cried. Meanwhile, Eloise was louder and much more demanding. The were opposites in every way. Growing up together meant that it was the two of them against the world. As they grew, they tried to make their mom's life easier. Imogen trying to rein her sister's more wild ideas in whenever she could. It seemed like Eloise was cut from the same cloth as her mother—and Imogen was more like her grandfather. For the first few years of their life, Lewis tried to stay in touch, but as his books became more popular, he slowly stopped calling as often until one day his calls only came once a year on their birthday. Despite this, KJ never spoke bad about them—saying they were two soulmates that met in the wrong lifetime.
The Adventures May Day and June Bug was a series Eloise started. Only the two of them were allowed to call each other that. The story started out innocently. Two sister's sharing adventures with each other. Eloise had gotten her mother's love of stories and her father's love of writing. Secretly, Imogen did too, but she let her sister have all the fun. The book was a series of short stories about a pair of twins getting into trouble. All of it was innocent, sneaking off outside when they were supposed to, pretending to eat their dinners (except dumping them into the garbage disposal when mom wasn't looking), bringing stray cats home (in their defense they didn't know it was the neighbor's cat). May Day and June Bug may have gotten in trouble for some of the adventures they went on, but it was all in good fun. The stories they shared were all worth it when the two of them giggled themselves to sleep well after their bedtime.
It all changed a few weeks after their thirteenth birthday. Eloise had been so excited to be a pre-teen. The two got dressed in their Halloween outfits when they ran into their friends. It was relatively easy to sneak away from the teenager babysitting them, really all they had to do was tell her the girl she liked kept peeking over at her. They promised they'd be fine on their own and wouldn't go further than the end of the street. Of course, they lied and they went towards the abandoned house a few blocks over with their friends. One of Eloise's friends dared her to go in and while Imogen begged her sister not to go, she didn't listen. Imogen watched her sister go into the house—and she never made it back out. They never found a body. Whatever happened to Eloise remained a mystery. Police ruled it a kidnapping, as the only thing they found was the pillow case of candy. Imogen considered The Adventures of May Day and June Bug officially over, packed into a box in the attic.
For a year, KJ stayed in their home, but whisper always seemed to follow them. When Imogen was fourteen, her mom moved them to Aurora Bay, which wasn't that far away they'd never see their grandparents again, but far enough away Imogen could enroll at a new school. KJ's job let her work remotely—only occasionally making her come into the office for a meeting. It didn't take long for them to adjust to the life in Aurora Bay. Imogen made new friends and thrived in the new town. Although her sister was always on her mind, she felt like she was a bit of her own person now. The cautious person she was didn't seem like a hinderance to her life. She joined clubs and went out with friends to the movies. Imogen reestablished a relationship with her father—strained and distrusting at first. He sent her letters and photos from his travels. He met someone new, an Australian woman that despite her initial disinterest became a confidant. for Imogen, someone she could go to when she didn't want to talk to her mom. Aurora Bay felt like a fresh start.
College had been an argument with her mother. Imogen didn't want to go at all. She needed a gap year, wanted to visit her father and new step brother. Her one gap year turned into three and just before her 22nd birthday, Imogen returned home to Aurora Bay and enrolled in college. Her mother and grandparents were happy she returned. She'd never admit that she was also glad to return. The years she'd spent with her step-mother had sparked an interest in geology—the same field her step-mother worked in. She got a job as a front desk attendant to earn money while she was in school because she's hoping for her senior year to move out into her own apartment.
HEADCANONS !
She wears a friendship bracelet that she and Eloise made together—with hers saying best on it.
Imogen moved the box of stories her and Eloise wrote together into the attic when she left to visit her dad.
Does your muse like to dance? Would they dance with another?
"Dancing is fun, I never took any dance or anything. I wish I did. My mom didn't want me doing anything that was too competitive, which was fine. I don't think I'd have liked dancing. I'll dance with anyone, especially if Dom asked me to dance."
Does your muse like to sing? Would they do a duet?
"I love singing! I'm objectively an okay singer, like not the best but could get away with singing a Taylor song at karaoke. I'd do a duet too, depending on who it was and what the song was. Maybe I can convince Dom do do karaoke with me sometime."
Did your muse have a favourite childhood story or fable?
"No, my sister and I tended to make our own versions of the fairytales and fables we listened to. We had our own story that we were working on two which really was just our adventures together written down. As much as loved reading about Cinderella when I was little, I loved making up my own silly stories with my sister. I miss getting to make up stories with her, but I've never been interested in the publishing industry."
"You sure?" he asked, glancing down at Imogen as he wrapped his arm over her shoulders. While he loved a good party and mingling with a bunch of strangers, he knew that it wasn't always her idea of a good time. But he didn't want her to end up leaving early either. "Yeah, he can be a little particular about his things." Dom said, a light chuckle leaving his lips. Freddy was a special one for sure.
"Mhm! It's your birthday." She still appreciated how Dom was still checking in on her because he didn't have to do that. "I'm sure. It's your day." It was true she didn't like crowds and being around a huge amount of people, but she was fine. Imogen could handle a night at a party. "Are you having a good time?" Imogen hoped that he was, after all this was his party. "Yeah, he's strange."
"See, skiing is a very weird phenomena," Demi explains, "At the root of it, it's literally just people sliding around with board on their feet in the snow. And, you know, it's going downhill so it doesn't even require that much skill. It's mostly gravity and a lack of friction, you know? But somehow it's been gentrified into this rich people hobby. It's very interesting."
Probably not to anyone but her, but these were the things she tended to think about.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Is it a cold case type of thing?"
"I don't understand why people enjoy it. Then again, I've basically lived in California all my life. Except when I visited my dad in Spain." And even then, her dad didn't live somewhere where it snowed. "It's such an interesting sport though, you're right." It was a sport though. "I had a friend that did a lot of skiing and she'd always call with sweat on her face after a run, so it's gotta work some sort of muscles." What did she know though?
Imogen shrugged, she didn't like talking about this anymore. It made her sad. "It went cold after the first year."
Hutch didn’t look like the typical person who made their whole life about something macabre. Really he looked fairly ordinary if not a bit nerdy most of the time but he knew his life was a bit weird. Not many people lived in a funeral home. “ it helps that Aurora Bay isn’t too big. It makes it easy to get around. I like how that is. I don’t think it would be the same if we lived in a city “
“ I want to say he did. But after he got out he slammed my door and started kicking my bumper. “ @imogenjwarwick
"The only cities I've lived in are ones that don't really count. My dad's place is in a city, but he lives in a very walkable city. American cities aren't the same. Even my step mom's house in Australia was more walkable than some places." Although Aurora Bay was small enough. Imogen preferred to walk though. It gave her time to clear her head. She hated driving too.
"I guess you now have a bad review on Uber. Or well some unsuspecting person. He seems like a mean person though. I wouldn't have wanted to drive him anywhere."
📸 CAMERA - do they enjoy having their picture taken? what's their go-to pose? do they like taking photos? what do they take photos of?
"Eh, not really. I don't hate it and don't shy away from the camera. It also depends on who's taking the photo. If it's my mom then no, but I'll post for a photo for Dom if he asks. If I'm behind the camera, you can bet I'm taking photos of rocks."
"Less people have them than don't," he replies, and he falls into the smaller population of that. "You haven't ever thought about a maybe? A silly infinity symbol, or a small feather or dandelion blowing in the wind?"
"Really? I feel like I know so many people have at least a little one." Imogen thought for a minute. "Sometimes I think about getting one for my sister. We always talked about getting them when we were younger. She was going to get a beetle and I was going to get a flower."

location: aurora bay towers (birthday gettie)
"Please tell me you're having a good time." Dominic said as he grabbed a seat next to Imogen. The get-together was supposed to be something small, inner circle type of vibes, but word quickly spread around the Tower and with finals the following week, everyone had a reason to get drunk. "I promise we'll do something just the two of us tomorrow."
"You don't have to worry about me," she leaned against him as he sat down. "I'm having a great time." She wasn't the biggest fan of crowds like this, but they were inside and it wasn't as bad. She was happy to spend time with him as they celebrated Dom's birthday. "Your roommate is annoying though. He told me I wasn't allowed to sit at that desk thingy he has."
Logan was excited to spend an afternoon with her friend since they both miraculously had time off at the same time. Happily looping her arm through Imogen's, she sipped on a vodka-hibiscus lemonade. "If I pout at you enough can we circle back to the bakery booth? I reaaaaaally wanna try those cupcakes. And then more pouting to make some flower crowns? Or even some cute hair tinsel?"
"We can go get cupcakes now if you want," Imogen laughed. She was really excited to spend some time with her friend, especially since the semester was over for her and she was almost done with school. "You don't need to pout. We obviously have to make flower crowns. I want to take a picture to send to Dom." She could feel her cheeks heat up. "I've never tried to put hair tinsel in before. I think it would be cute."

where - gardens at night
Syrena walked the gardens for the first time at night and was taken away by it's beauty. She loved all the decorations and LED lights, it really made it feel magical. "I vote that they keep these lights up all year long." She told the girl next to her. "It looks so cute, it'll look so sad when all of this is gone."
The gardens were absolutely beautiful this time of night for the festival. Imogen loved spring. It was her favorite season. The pastel colors were some of her favorite and it matched with her sunny personality. "It's stunning. Maybe they should keep it up even if they don't keep it on every day. At least once or twice a week would be nice."
