oh boy

Went through an emo phase as a young teen and died his hair black to go with it. There was a red streak in the bangs. There is no photographic evidence.

Loves??? babies???? Loves babies so much.

REALLY good with horses. Finds them comforting. One of his foster families - one of the few really good ones - had friends who owned a stable. Andrew and his single other foster sibling at this place learned to ride out there. He misses that family and those horses a lot.

Likes a good mystery/crime novel, but really grew up on manga and still enjoys it to this day. Can’t read it in the original Japanese, but still.

Hates the cold and will leech warmth from Neil/his partner at any given opportunity.

The smile enforced that small glimmer of hope once again. He was human enough. At least as much as she was which, to herself, seemed like a low standard. “Noted-” A small scoff accompanied the quick word before she continued listening working the story in. “Just quirky enough that it might work.” It was more of a joke than a criticism and she hoped that her forced grin was enough to portray that. 

“Yeah, of course.” She itched to ask more, but Sabine knew better. She didn’t want to talk about her quirks so why should she be so interested in others’? The question was straightforward enough that it took her by surprise when he returned it. It hadn’t even crossed her mind that he’d ask. 

And with that question she froze, staring at him. After a few seconds of silence, she nodded and took a deep breath. “I’m- yeah.” Sabine stammered and silently chastised herself for making such a rookie mistake, letting your emotions affect your performance. Maybe she trusted him too much already, her guard down.   “We’re not going to get intimate, so I don’t foresee a problem.” Though shaken, she retained the accent- no matter how strange it felt. “Whatever you’re comfortable with. I’m fine.”

“Ah,” Andrew says around a nod, because her reaction is more than a little telling. Well, that might explain, at least, why he liked her so much when they first met. There is something to be said about kindred spirits, and people with their sort of history do tend to flock together. “Definitely not going to be a problem, then.” He’ll keep an eye on her, though, to make sure that they’re both right. Her traumas seem fresher than his.

The rest of the ride is spent in silence, with Andrew looking out the window at the passing city and Sabine beside him probably scanning for threats. She seems more composed when they pull up to the hotel, at least, which is good, because he’s tired of the tension mounting between them like a fog.

He gets out and taps the driver’s door in a wordless thanks, since he’s not allowed to seem buddy-buddy with Brian anymore - a shame, really, since Andrew rather likes him. Then he puts on a face, more open than his usual one, and helps Sabine out of the car. Brian comes around to the trunk and takes out their bags, handing them off with a very slight bow. “Well?” Andrew offers his arm. “Let’s get checked in, then. We can take a breather after that flight and maybe go hunt down some food.”

Andrew turns sharply to look at Neil, not surprised but still cut open by the way Neil looks at him. “I don’t,” he says, like he’s choking. He doesn’t mind, not at all, and that is so... fucked up. “Yes or no?”

“ you are ”    IT’S BARELY THERE, an offer of peace & reassurance though Neil knows Andrew doesn’t need it, doesn’t need poetic words or attention. but something about the prickly man beside him, makes Neil crack open at the seams. Touch alone never used to center him, it used to push fear in his bones but ow, the sight of Andrew’s hand reaching out for Neil’s neck is the most relaxing thing he knows. He tips his head forward, takes in the few seconds of contact contentedly before sighing as Andrew’s hand leaves, but he know’s better than to push    “ Much longer? ”

Andrew says nothing, focusing on the familiar drag of smoke into his lungs and the bright way the cherry flares when he ashes out the window. “You know the way to the house,” he says, which is true. Neil’s just trying to make useless conversation, and Andrew’s not having it. “When we get there, I want to know why you insisted on leaving the others behind.”

In any verse where Andrew is in a long-standing relationship with Neil, they own two cats - Sir Fatcat McCatterson and King Fluffkins (Sir and King, respectfully, and Sir is, in fact, female). Nicky named them.

In any verse where Andrew has a permanent home and he is not in a relationship with Neil, he owns one cat, and her name is Bitch.

With the orange of the sunset and the soft breeze ruffling his hair - it would hurt. Andrew’s already admitted that this is something, but that’s... so fucking dangerous.

He still shakes his head at the question, and leans forward ‘til he can rest his elbows on his knees. “Nope. Nuh uh. Do not want to. Just gonna… sit here and wait this shit out.”

“That wasn’t really up for debate,” Andrew says, pulling another chair around so that he can sit in front of Malik. “Because if you got something in your eyes and you’re not telling me, then your permanent loss of vision is not going to be my fault.” He’s not going to come out and say that he’s worried, but this is pretty close.

        Malik shrugs. “You don’t seem like you’re planning to murder me so far, so I don’t much care. I’ve gotten used to the company of dodgy people.” Perhaps he should care more. Scratch that, he definitely should, but he… well. Doesn’t. “There’s a few clubs round here that always need extra bouncers, too. Couple other things locally. That’s about my local job knowledge out, though.”

Andrew smirks. Despite himself, he likes this guy. He’s witty, easy-going. Amusing enough to hold his attention, though focusing is still hard even after being off of the drugs for almost five years. “That I could do. Alcohol and fighting - that’s about all I’m good for.” His eidetic memory helps with the first, and his interest in never being weak again helps with the second.

“Well, aren’t I special.” Andrew doesn’t mean to sound so volatile. He takes his hand off the wheel and cups the back of Neil’s neck for a moment, letting the car drift dangerously close to the edge of the road before finally taking his hand back. He drags on his cigarette. That’s a lot of truth for one night. It’s a promising way to start the weekend.
