Iāve got all that I need and itās right here with me
THE road had been long, insufferably & impossibly long. mavis was sure it wasnāt over yet, a sinking certainty lived in the pits of her heart that there would be more turmoil to face ahead of them. happily ever afters lived only in fairy tales && if the years had taught her anything, it was that fairy tales never translated right in the real world.Ā
FORTUNATELY - it was hard to mind, these days. mavis had fought tooth && nail for every little thing sheād ever had &&& zeref was well worth all the struggles sheād endured & would endure.Ā
FAIRY tales may not be real, the blonde thought as she linked her fingers withĀ her boyfriend, they may just be fantastical ways to impart morals; but mavis had certainly gotten the love story of one. sure, she may have fallen for a man more sorcerer than prince - but sheād always been more general than princess anyway.
PERHAPSĀ it was idealistic, to sit here && think that it had all been worth it. maybe she was simplifying things too much, recklessly ignoring the consequences they'd wrought on others. but sheād worried enough to last several lifetimes &&& zeref was finally beside her again, where she could touch him, saying all the things sheād most wanted to hear. as far as she was concerned, they'd repented enough. guilt wasn't going to keep her from basking in their hard earned happiness.Ā
A hundred replies built atop her tongue, palaces of promises, castles of assurances - but she held them still. mavis could spill words all over his skin ( & she would, a thousand times over. ) but she wouldnāt be saying anything he didnāt already know. instead, she leaned up, using his shoulder as leverage to press a kiss to the underside of his jaw. the highest spot she could reach without his help.Ā
āI love you,ā she affirmed, a glittering joy in her words. there was a simple thrill she doubted she'd ever overcome just from being able to say the words aloud, without a ceiling of tradgedy crashing over them. fingers tightening in his, she fell back on the feeling of security that lived between them. cherishing her certainty that whatever lay ahead of them - sheād never have to let go of his hand again.Ā āI love you so much,āĀ
