you can only reblog this if you're not racist
huge coming from the site who is so against black art that 'tumblr users are afraid of rap' has been a meme for the best part of a decade. You know that yall are 4channers with pronouns right?
addendum: you can only reblog this if you're not racist part 2

remember that time they aired an episode where Chris Grace said "Esk*mo kiss" and, in response to the backlash, they and Grace separately issued statements + edited it out of the episode? still waiting on Reich's statement about this
hint: this time it can't be played off as an honest mistake.
#am i dumb i genuinely don't understand what his comment was supposed to mean#even the... host? seemed confused #like i genuinely don’t get it #and i am trans woman fyi #is it really that simple and I'm just like “that can't be it”
it is that simple, yes. a rich, powerful white man essentially said, "funny to be called a pedophile by a man wearing a lot of makeup" and expected everyone to laugh at it.
it's notable that the response was confusion. they knew that what he said was objectionable, they were trying to find a way to avoid that conclusion and couldn't find one. I also had this moment of confusion.
we, all of us, have been taught to dismiss and excuse transmisogyny. we've internalized it, the confusion happens automatically. deliberate effort is required to overcome that impulse to dismiss, and even that relies on us having noticed it happening at all.
he didn't acknowledge it because he knew he didn't have to. everyone in the room let it slide, they aired it uncritically, there is no outrage about it. it's just an awkward joke.
Remember that time they consistently they/themmed a trans woman after having her on a show exclusively for the purpose of making fun of her kink. And then publicly patted themselves on the back for not being meaner about her kink. And when they were called out for degendering her in a behind the scenes video, they edited the video to also degender cis women bc that was easier than properly gendering a trans woman.
“spicy pillow” jokes aside, I think @flowerkrone’s tags deserve a serious reply:
#my old phone looks like this on my shelf lmao #im too scared to touch it to throw it away #idk what trash this even goes into when its at this point
The pillow-shaped object here used to be the phone’s battery. It’s not a battery anymore. Now it’s a balloon full of corrosive, pyrophoric chemicals and hydrogen gas and it’s one puncture away from burning your house down. I am 100% serious. You should be scared to touch it.
But you gotta touch it, because you gotta get it out of your house before the pressure builds up to the point where the balloon pops. This isn’t going to happen soon – there is no need to panic – but it will happen eventually.
And, indeed, it doesn’t go in the ordinary trash. You put this in the ordinary trash and you’re gonna set the garbage truck on fire. Don’t do that to the garbage collectors, their job is hard enough already.
The first thing you need to do is get a fireproof container. The most common household item that qualifies as a fireproof container is a cast-iron cookpot with a cast-iron lid – often sold as a “Dutch oven.” Any other cooking container that’s unreactive, has a very high melting point, and has a lid made of the same materials will also work: enameled or stainless steel, Pyrex with glass lid, etc.
However: Do not use a pot with a PTFE-based non-stick coating. If the battery does explode, the fire will probably be hot enough to degrade a PTFE coating, producing toxic smoke. (Not that you should breathe the smoke from the battery fire either, but PTFE breakdown products are worse.) Do not use a pot made of aluminium or copper. The fire might even get hot enough to melt those.
Whatever container you use, you might have to throw away along with the phone, so don’t use your good Dutch oven for this. Go to a thrift store and buy a cheap one.
Once you have the fireproof container:
Gently pick up the phone and put it in the fireproof container. If possible, gently tape the phone to the bottom of the container to prevent it from bouncing around. Don’t put any padding in there, that’ll just make a fire worse if it does happen. Put the lid on and tape it shut.
Put a label on the container, something like “DEFECTIVE LI-ION BATTERY – FIRE HAZARD”.
It is now reasonably safe to move the container around. However, if the battery does explode, the container is very likely to leak smoke and get hot, so keep it in a well-ventilated area and away from things that will be damaged by heat. Don’t leave it exposed to the weather, either.
You need to find either a hazardous waste disposal site, or an e-waste recycler that will accept defective Li-ion batteries. I can’t help with that because I have no idea where you live.
However, your local fire department, if you have one, will probably be happy to help. Call their non-emergency number. Nothing is on fire yet, so this isn’t an emergency, but things that can easily start a fire are still within the fire department’s responsibilities. Tell them you have a phone with a bulging lithium-ion battery, you put it in a fireproof container, and you want to know how to dispose of it safely.
If the fire department tries to tell you this isn’t dangerous or it’s okay to throw it out in the regular trash (with or without fireproof container), hang up on them and write a cranky letter to your local government representatives, then keep looking for a proper disposal site.
When you do find a a hazardous waste disposal site or an e-waste recycler, call them and make sure they will take defective Li-ion batteries, before showing up. That’s also a good time to ask if they will let you have the fireproof container back.

Reblogging because I would have had absolutely no idea what to do, either.
Hi! Firefighter here (and former member of a large HazMat Team / certified HazMat technician). As lithium battery fires have skyrocketed, so too have training standards and mandatory training at the state level in a lot of the US.
Call your fire department first. Don’t handle a swollen battery at all.
Our gear isn’t rated against direct contact with lithium flames (most brand new turn out gear is rated for ~10 seconds of direct flame exposure) but we get a degree of flash protection if it goes off while we take it outside that you just don’t have AND respiratory protection.
If you find a battery like this I promise you won’t get in trouble for calling 911.
One interesting thing about gondola escape in The Boiling Rock Part II is that the scene seems to be almost designed to insulate Azula from moral responsibility for the Warden attempting to have the gondola dropped into the Boiling Lake. Consider:
Azula could have ordered the lines cut at the beginning and saved herself a lot of trouble, but instead she risked her own life (and Ty Lee's) in a risky attempt to apparently capture the escapees alive.
When the Warden orders the lines cut, Azula and Ty Lee are so focused on their fights that they don't notice. It's not until the gondola is stopped and swaying that Ty Lee notices what exactly is going on and points it out to Azula.
Azula's first priority at this point is, quite reasonably, to get herself and Ty Lee to safety.
At this point, Azula and Ty Lee are so far away from the guards (hundreds of yards, although it's impossible to calculate) that it seems extremely unlikely that Azula could communicate an order to stop, even if she wanted to. Frankly, it's a miracle that the guards even understood the Warden's order to cut the line in the first place; I imagine they could only understand it because they knew the Warden so well. Since then, the Gondala has moved even further away from the guards.
The guards literally decided to dump the Gondala in the lake even though Azula was still on it, so it seems questionable how receptive they would be to her orders, such as an order to stop, at least until she can get close and personal enough to personally intimidate them. They're not exactly doing a good job respecting the royal personage.
By the time Azula gets close enough to potentially personally intervene, Mai has "resolved" the situation.
Again, I just find it odd how much the narrative ends up structuring events in a way that really remove most choice and agency from Azula here, at least with regards to Zuko's potential "boiling bath." Some of this has to be deliberate writing choices. They could have easily had Azula be the one who gave the order, for instance. Instead she's rendered mostly powerless and passive in this scene, unable to affect events one way or the other until it's too late.
I was going to save this for some other post, but (Probably evident by the amount of notifications you're likely getting from me, sorry) I got bored and have been exploring your blog, so I may as well dump them here...
Timestamps I marked because I noticed a couple things:
1:38: I know Fire Nation guards and soldiers are frequently portrayed as anger driven and ineffective but what in the Stormtrooper ass fuck was that aim?
2:48: Azula used a low spin kick whilst firebending as her first move. A move usually associated with Zuko. Well played.
3:06: If we are to assume Ty Lee and Suki are fighting on one half of the gondola, it's kind of odd they animated Azula's flame nearly hitting Ty Lee when Zuko's been busy parting most of her attacks. Unless she was aiming for Suki but... that was a very miscalculated blast. Probably just a minor animation detail added in to keep things tense without focusing on the positioning of the fight. (Or it'd been originally intended to be Zuko's?)
3:23 - 3:28: I like to imagine Zuko and Sokka had a momentary pause here in sheer awe of her planking like that. In those five to six seconds they could've easily driven her off the gondola. Especially with how violently they were trying to drive her back just seconds before.
3:39 - 3:48: Them prioritizing someone below the rank of royalty's orders over the lives of both their possible throne heirs is likely a writing oversight. But, let's be honest, Ozai wouldn't be above allowing for this to happen.
4:07 - 4:36: Zuko and Sokka tenderly holding hands or something for half a minute, for some inexplicable reason.
4:12: Azula's momentary loss of balance.
4:13: Just a good line read for Ty Lee's panic. Oh, and Azula being in disbelief and having to see for herself if it's true.
4:21: Azula's genuine panic.
5:53 - 6:00: I don't know why this part is always so amusing to me. The gondola spits out Suki, Sokka, Zuko, Hakoda and lastly, Chit Sang, who brings the warden out with him... then Hakoda just points back to the gondola and the warden gets thrown back in. The little point always gets me.
6:35 onward: Now for the good stuff. Azula's dialogue is as follows:
"Leave us alone." To the gaurds.
Then directly to Mai: "I never expected this from you. The thing I don't understand is why. Why would you do it? You knew the consequences."
None of this was threatening or aggressive. Her tone and expression are tight, sure, but not hostile. She even softened/faltered for a moment when asking Mai why she did it. She wants to understand. So what if it's treason? She's willing to hear Mai out here.
Mai tells her in response: "I guess you just don't know people as well as you think you do."
Azula remains calm and patient. She's not even offended by nor challenging this claim.
Then, the knife to her heart:
"You miscalculated. I love Zuko more than I fear you."
She seems to react at the point where the words are "I love Zuko more" specifically. Ouch.

Welp, this is it, A24 is now trying to copyright the backrooms. They’re taking down wallpaper designs from redbubble that were made ages before the film came out.

the recent trend to hate on argentina and to characterize doing so as woke has allowed many first worlders to show their true colors. as soon as you all seem to get the 'green light' that hating on a third world country is acceptable you stop hiding your disdain and xenophobia. this and the "calling ice" jokes show you don't actually give two shits about racism or cheating or whatever, you just want a socially acceptable way to hate on latin americans
