So I have this Hyrule Warriors headcanon about Cia’s castle and the Link statues.
Did anyone else notice that she has SS Link, Young Link and Wolf Link but no HW Link?
What if those statues are not strictly for decoration.
What if they are not actually statues, but Links Cia has already captured and imprisoned as statues for her collection. Perhaps her having portraits of HW Link all over her castle walls and only him are because she has targeted him as her next addition to her precious Link collection, so she is currently fixating on him since she’s already gotten the others.
This could explain why the other Links are completely absent when you visit the SS, TP and OOT verse. We DO get hints that the other Links DO exist in these verses because some of the characters representing each verse DO make a reference to their Links/heroes ( from the top of my head, I know Fi and Ruto made references).
That being said, Sage, Cheri and I were discussing the possibility of Ghirahim encountering SS Link’s statue and realizing that the very brat that defeated him in battle is now woefully and pathetically trapped in a stone imprisonment for all eternity.
Imagine the insult and outrage he would feel, first scoffing at the mere fact that the fabled goddess chosen hero had fallen to such a miserable faith, laughing at how pitiful the boy looked now. However, soon it starts to sink in that this sky brat was the one, the only one that both defeated him in battle and brought his master to his knees. This boy was supposed to be his foe, the one that he clashed swords with and could not, try as he might, bring down. How could that insufferable whelp let himself be reduced to something like this? A mere object of someone’s obsession and sick fantasy? A snuffed flame that drove Ghirahim insane because he could never put that flame out himself. So imagine how it would slowly eat away at Ghirahim to the point he starts mocking, screaming and laughing hysterically at the statue.
Alternatively, imagine if Volga had retained memories of being Volvagia and being Time’s companion (based on the manga) and discovering the statue of child Link. Imagine the slap to the face that would be and the conflicting feelings of betrayal and loss. On one end, Volga remembers Link as his first friend, a child with bright, hopeful and carefree eyes before the burden of his destiny took over. But in the same breath, crushed by the memory of Time as an adult slaying him, and the guilt of succumbing to Ganondorf’s evil magic, but the bitterness of Time not saving him. That the last time he got to see Time was at his hour of death in tears, leaving so many things unsaid, not even given the chance to ask for forgiveness. The only thing he could do was show that he was aware of what happened and remembered who Link was before he finally died, regretting everything and wishing they could have both gone back to their carefree days as children. And so, seeing the child Link statue is a firm, grim reminder that Volga can never go back to that. Because the days of innocence are over and kindness is dead. Only the strong survive.
