Characters have their own favorite foods! Some might prefer a simple breakfast of bacon and eggs, while others love an elaborate turkey dinner. What'd be your favorite food, if you were a character...?

Family bonds are emphasized as a reoccurring theme. I won't give spoilers, but there are many heartrending moments to look forward to.

There are several different critters you can befriend, as well as many other friendly, cute, and helpful animals all around the world. Some creatures will help with your daily chores if you give them a little snack, while others will help carry all your things, and some just are so dang cute it makes you feel so much better to stand around them.

Did I mention the fun and wacky characters? I haven't talked about them enough. There's a lumberjack who adores and respects nature and talks to his beloved axe, a mime with an unrelentingly cheerful attitude who spends all his time making balloons and fooling around to help cheer up his friends, a lonely robot who's not too fond of most people (who's also nonbinary!), a friendly-but-forgetful time traveler who could always use a hand getting her things done on time, a friendly swamp monster who loves reading fairy tales and playing with her friends, and a charmingly incompetent scientist who never gives up!

I haven't even mentioned the fishing, or how you can help a lovely old woman renovate and restore her home!

There's animal husbandry, crafting, exploration- You'll always have something to do.

But there's only one way to experience it all...

Cosmere Characters Who Should Go to an Amusement Park Together

I have done characters at Disneyland and characters at a Ren Faire, so in order to change this one up a bit, I'm going to think about which pairs of characters (from different worlds, just for an extra challenge) would most enjoy going to an amusement park together.

1. Kaladin & Vin: Going on the tallest, fastest, most extreme coasters they can

And yet...they're not really thrilling enough.

Kaladin: I mean...it was fun, but it was no "flying at the front of a highstorm." Vin: Yeah--is it really freefall if you have a seatbelt? Jumping off of buildings is more exciting. Kaladin: Another? Vin: Heck yeah!

2. Renarin & Spook: Going on the tallest, fastest, most extreme coasters they can

The rides are terrifying, yes. But they love it.

Renarin: You're right! Closing your eyes on the ride DOES make it scarier! Spook: Still not why I'm wearing the blindfold, but glad I helped, I guess.

3. Wax and Ann: Killing it at the shooting games

This is after Ann gets her glasses.

Wax: So what are you going to do with your six large stuffed animals? Ann: Let's just say the holidays are covered! What are you going to do with yours? Wax: Kids. Ann: Awww! Ann: Your shooting skills make you a good father. Wax: Thank you?

4. Lift and Siri: Can't stop eating

Siri: Phew, I'm stuffed! I can't believe we got through that funnel cake! It was the size of your head! Lift: Ooooh, that stand has birthday cake popcorn! Siri: LET'S FREAKIN GO

5. Steris and Vivenna: Making a plan (and sticking to it)

By hour two, Vivenna definitely has a crush on Steris.

Steris: People say the restaurant is good, but slammed at lunchtime. Vivenna: So we eat a big lunch at 10am? Steris: And then at noon we can go to that ride whose line is always long! Vivenna: Sneak in while people are busy at lunch? Brilliant! Steris: No, you're brilliant!

6. Dalinar and Nikaro: Keep riding the same ride over and over again

They're on their fourth go. It's barely noon.

Dalinar: Every time I ride this ride, I understand the narrative better. Dalinar: I feel so close to grasping the meaning of the dynamite that seemingly explodes and sends the minecart rocketing forward. Nikaro: I mostly just like this one and don't see why I'd do something else. Nikaro: But you do you, man.

7. Shallan and Kelsier: Determined to do it all

And they will NOT be taking any sort of "breaks." Not when they could uncover another aspect of this amusement park!

Kelsier: Okay, so you go to that show and record it, and I'll go to this one at the same time. Then we can swap recordings while waiting in line, and that's, like, three things checked off at once. Shallan: You're not allowed to record the shows. Kelsier: ... Shallan: ... Kelsier: Ha ha, that's a good one! Shallan: Ha ha, I had you going for a second!

8. Sebarial and Vasher: Found a shady seat to nap

Just two old men in big sun hats, snoozing away.

Vasher: You're awfully generous. Vasher: Every time Shallan appears, you hand her more money. Sebarial: ... Sebarial: You see nothing.

9. Tress and Susebron: Experiencing childlike wonder

The two of them are looking around with huge, wondering eyes. They may or may not be holding hands.

Tress: Look! That ride is giant teacups! We should go! Susebron: Tress! I think that's a real princess over there! Tress: This place is amazing!

10. Yumi and Wayne: Having fun shopping

There are crafts, souvenirs, hats...

Yumi: Tell me honestly. Yumi: Is this hat too large? Wayne: [studies the ten gallon hat, taller than Yumi's own head, that she is currently wearing] Wayne: If anything, I think you need to buy a miniature version of that hat to wear on top. Yumi: BRILLIANT

11. Dusk and Szeth: Trying to find somewhere that isn't so damn crowded

Look, they gave it a try, but crowds are not their thing.

Szeth (who has not otherwise spoken for three hours): I should say that I'm grateful that you found this spot. Dusk (who has also not otherwise spoken for three hours): You were the one who figured out how to climb over the dumpsters to get behind them. Szeth: Admittedly it is slightly smelly back here. Dusk: But so quiet. Szeth: Yes. Szeth: I like it too.

12. TenSoon and Nightblood: Left outside

Sadly, neither dogs nor swords are allowed inside amusement parks.

Nightblood: It's discrimination! TenSoon: Swords aren't a protected class. Nightblood: They WANT their park to be full of evil! TenSoon: I think they want their park to be empty of murder. Nightblood: ... Nightblood (sulkily): How come you're on THEIR side?

Fanfic where Saiki gets taken hostage or kidnapped or something but before he can rescue himself there's a film crew there, like the news or something, so he's just gotta. Sit there. And try to look at least a little spooked when mostly he's just annoyed while the cops are attempting to do their thing and he's attempting to do his own thing but in a way that can't be caught by the cameras. Yare yare he's missing coffee jelly time for this, damnit.

+10 points, Kurumi and Kuniharu are entertaining and their guests are really fucking baffled and more than a LOT concerned that neither appear worried whatsoever that their youngest son is In A Situation

Extra points if the guests are a mix of Saiki's friends and their parents, all of whom are having their opinions of the Saikis parenting lowered dramatically.

If there's Kokomins in government there's definitely Kokomin cops, Teruhashi just needs one phone call to make an entire police department go absolutely rabid!

By the time Saiki's been freed, Teruhashi is on the scene in person and the second he's out she's gathering him up into her arms with a glittering trail of Angel Tears. News crews go feral. There's no way to escape without giving a dozen interviews, all of which feature Teruhashi clinging to her 'good friend'.

Sawakita's chapter of Kokomins ships Terusai even harder now. There's online flame wars started by people thrown into savagery by envy vs devotion. People are trying to trip Saiki in the hallways at PK when the Kokomins themselves aren't acting as Saiki's personal security detail. Saiki is regretting his entire life right now but regretting especially not just blowing everybody up the second it happened instead of trying to not make trouble for people.

I just finished my reread of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, and there's a character who's an archpriest of a violent heirarchical religion who's sent to convert an entire country in three months so his prophet doesn't declare holy war on them and commit genocide. He's manipulative and conniving and his conversion strategy is charisma and logic because he doesn't feel any passion about his beliefs.

Anyways in the authors notes he says that this character came from his experience as a Mormon missionary??? What the fuck??? That's... so many flavors of interesting...

eh its actually a pretty common position for utah mormons(distinctly different vibes from other mormons nd especially different from converts) who've been raised nd spent their entire lives in the church to fall into. you'd be surprised the cognitive disconnect they can have when it comes to analyzing an outside religious concept to their own

also, utah mormons are probably the most likely mormons(outside of converts) to be neutral or pro lgbt. theres a massive queer community in utah and especially the capital. not to say its common, but its not the rarest thing

Well in all seriousness "people were, on average, shorter in the past" isn't a rule across the board, because shorter stature (than one would expect to be "given" by the raw power of genetics) is caused by a range of socially inflected factors factors like nutrition and disease, so even if people were shorter on average in the 16th century, height also tends to correlate with wealth, i.e. access to particular resources. If he came from an affluent family (I don't know if we know this for sure or if it's just implied?) he would probably have had access to (A) sufficient sources of nutrition growing up, and (B) nicer spaces to live in, either within or apart from the kinds of crowded and unsanitary urban environments that promote the spread of infectious diseases, both of which would have increased his chances of reaching, uh, 6'4" or however tall he's supposed to be in the books!

Also he wasn't particularly wealthy iirc - his family had a farm, which implies that they weren't super rich given time period. That being said, though, landy also almost certainly didn't research the feudal system and decided that skuls family were serfs so let's assume they were landowners. Still ok-ishly off but not well enough off to be able to grow to that height, surely?

The British empire (and also the EIC) absolutely loved using Irish recruits in the 18th and 19th century because we had a reputation for being tall and broad shouldered in comparison to English recruits.

The introduction of potatoes to Ireland in the 1580s led to a massive population boom because they grow very well in our soil and allowed far more people to live on less land. This is why they became *the* staple foodstuff for the Irish agrarian class. The two things put island is great at producing are potatoes and dairy. And it turns out that potatoes with butter and a little salt is fairly nutritionally complete and calorie dense.

In the 1600s the average Irish peasant had comparatively much better nourishment than their English counterparts.

Personally, I can say that every man in my family today is taller than 6 foot. I'm 6'9" (save me, please), my brother is 6'5", my dad was 6'2", his brother is 6'3. My male cousins are all 6' to 6'2".

Skulduggery was born in 1580. So he would have been 8 or 9 years old when potatoes were introduced. Just in time for them to supplement his diet as a developing teenager with growth spurts pending. Combined with the health benefits of access to magic, it makes sense.
