A swell of scarlet surfaces with the crest of the foaming wave, as a breathless voice offers its most eager apologies. "Sorry I was late! I swam as fast as my fins could carry me to get here-" rummaging through a soaking, sagging satchel, which was weighed down by the sudden force of gravity, the bright mermaid retrieved an aged pipe and brought it forward. "Happy anniversary!" she giggled, before exerting all of her upper body force through the opening in the pipe's stem, causing a bubbling concoction of debris, limp seaweed, and leaking saltwater in a celebratory cheer. "Hmmm...this might need some tuning-" she turns the pipe to the side, examining the previously-clogged-up stummel with a quirked head. "I bet Sebastian would know how! Oh, I'd do backflips if he'd help! Maybe I could bring it up to him during one of Daddy's catfish-naps."

Flounder interjected, splashing about at her side, cautiously countering that Sebastian might identify the snarfblatt as being a human object. "Oh, don't worry about that, Flounder! We can always say we found it in Adella's makeup bag!" The youngest of Triton's children couldn't help but giggle at the last look she had of the fifth daughter, who was busy trying out a "fashionable" new hair braid she'd seen in a Madamshell Magazine. "This'll fit right in with the headdress she wore to Sebastian's opera last night. I thought I'd burst my bubble when he forgot she wasn't in costume." Ariel, for one, loved her sister's wacky style. However, part of her chest did tighten at the realization that, this same object- which would be condemned if she brought it to light, would be easily accepted if it belonged to her sister, instead. But those thoughts would have to be pushed back for another time.

"Thanks again for waiting on Flounder and I to get here! We should start hunting for new treasures to remember today by! Why don't we dive over near Sunken Reef Isle and-" Flounder shuddered his best friend's name, begging for her attention by flipping his pectoral fins. Isn't that where the skeletons of wayward sailors were said to be? "Aww, Flounder, that's just a silly fish-tale they tell to scare little guppies away. To prove there's nothing to be afraid of, I'll lead the head start!" And, before Flounder could deter her, all that was left of Ariel was a dash of foam and sea spray in the way of her plunging form.

What got you interested in animation?

I grew up watching Disney’s renaissance movies and they were and still are undoubtedly the most brilliant in the history of animated features. But it wasn’t until I came across Glen Keane’s blog and saw his sketches of Ariel that I got a glimpse of the art behind the magic. Ever since then, it’s become my passion to find and share the beautiful and breathtaking work the animators and artists at Disney create to give us our favorite movies. 

Just look at this! It absolutely takes your breath away!

Ursula, can you tell us more about the Octopan army that you had outfitted with the magic tridents? That blue-haired man with the brooch seems to be the leader, do you know anything about him? And finally, do you have a sense of loyalty to your own species or would you have planned to betray them eventually?

"Oh sure! The Octopins' general is named Cephan, and he's your typical strong bloodthirsty type. Not much finesse, but he's got a warrior's resolve that I admire in a man. Most Atlanticans see the Octopins as a savage and warlike race, and between you and me, it's not an unfounded belief. They raid and pillage kingdoms for their resources rather than cultivating them for themselves."

"And to your other question, loyalty isn't exactly my strong suit. They would have been thrown out onto their tentacles if they gave me any reason to suspect that they weren't acting in my best interests. "Attina loves to read! Crystalla got her hooked. That's the nursemaid my sisters and I shared with our Mother. Oh, she used to tell us the best stories before bedtime. My favorite was about a sailor...but, when I'd press her for more details, she would always retreat. Anyway, Attina's also one of Sebastian's favorite music students! You'd never guess so, because she always gets so quiet when we're not in singing lessons. But Sebastian likes her because she's so hardworking! I try to be like that too, it's just that I...get distracted sometimes. But Attina's a real treasure!"
