You can only reblog this today.
I missed my chance last year. Not gonna let it happen again
Something no one tells you when you’re going through a tough time, is that even the smallest people will remember you. They’ll wonder why you haven’t bought food for your dog, where the pictures of your boyfriend went, or why their favourite cashier hasn’t been there for awhile. People notice you. People love you. Even if it’s for your jokes, even if it’s for your patience, even if it’s just seeing you around. People miss you. People love you. People care.
I’m grateful for everyone who is still here today, no matter how hard it is.
I still remember when I quit my old job at a McDonald’s, I was talking about how it was my last day, and had accidentally left the drive thru window open. The lady in the window overheard me and said “oh no, you’re quitting? I’ll miss you, you were always so nice!” And I almost sobbed. This random lady came through my drive thru enough to recognize me, enough to care that I was leaving, despite having barely had a single conversation other than what I had to say to do my job. People really do remember you, especially if you’re nice.
don’t let capitalism convince you that people are selfish loners. We are social creatures who have survived only because we are capable of great love.

An update on IsTayOnTumblr
Hi hi!
@strangelookonhisface and I have had an amazing time running IsTayOnTumblr, but the time has come to shut it down.
If you've checked the site recently you've probably noticed that it's broken. Tumblr changed their API, and Heroku (the hosting platform) has changed as well, and it would require more work to fix than I have time for.
I had a lot of fun making the site, coming up with fun "Taylor's not online" phrases, and it even helped me get a software engineering job!
The code will still be available on Github, for those of you that are curious how it worked.
Thank you to everyone who's supported the site via Patreon over the years, it meant so much to me! <3
no it’s betty
Therapists are just…. Common sense filters
Me: yeah so I just don’t have the energy to get up and make myself a sandwich or wait for something to cook so I just. Don’t
Her: why don’t you just eat the sandwich components without putting them together
Me:
Her: you can just eat a handful of cheese and some sandwich meat. You don’t have to make a sandwich.
Me:
Me: what
Therapists finding loopholes for mental illness things is one of my favorite things about dealing with mental illness because it really helps me understand that just because a reaction is Common doesn’t mean it’s Right. Does doing dishes stress you out a lot? Buy paper plates. Do your obsessive thoughts make you worry about leaving your curling iron on so you drive home from work to check? Just put the curling iron in your purse and bring it to work with you while we work on tackling where this worry comes from. Symptom management doesn’t have to look like drudgery.
i used to go days without showering because seeing my body was so upsetting that i would end up spiraling and then i realized i could simply turn the lights out. it took some getting used to but i’ve been showering with the lights off for years and it’s now one of my favorite parts of my day.
do whatever you want nothing is real and there’s no need to inflict unnecessary suffering on yourself just to try to seem “normal”
I love this post
Hmmm
These kinds of loopholes make life so. Much. Better.
One of my favorite stories is this lady had extremely bad OCD. Every day she’d be late to work because she was convinced that her hair dryer was going to burn down the house so would always have to turn around and check it. Multiple times a day even. A bunch of doctors tied to “fix” her of that fear, until one day she got a doctor that suggested she bring the hair dryer with her. Other doctors were annoyed, saying that wasn’t a the correct way to help, but she gave it a go. When she had that fear, she’d look over and see the hair dryer unplugged in the seat next to her and was able to carry on. I think it’s such a perfect example of actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard.
That story helped me stop repeatedly checking if my front door was locked. Instead of checking that the door was locked over and over I would check my security system app. If it’s on it will alert me if the front door opens.
“…actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard” should be added to the Hippocratic Oath.
Started reading about the door and I thought they were gonna say they took the door with them

There are lots of ways to help in political crises. Protesting, voting, joining unions, calling your asshole representatives so they know their days in office are numbered, making sure people know their rights, protecting immigrants and minorities-in-general who live in your neighborhood, etc. are all good,
but in terms of the human rights violations happening in America right now, here’s something more immediate you can do.

If you’re in a financial place to make donations, check out these links. If not, spreading the word on any tangible way to make a difference will help; if you have a twitter, you could retweet the original thread here: twitter.com/sarahmirk/status/1143201552657575937
I don’t usually make these posts myself, but my influence on Twitter is practically nil, so here I am.
Ominous positivity
You will be okay. You have no choice.
Everything will turn out fine. You cannot stop it.
You will succeed. It is inevitable.
You’re gonna be happy. Get used to it.
you’ll get through it. time passes whether or not we do something with it
Peace will find you. You cannot escape it’s grasp.
Rainbow Road
Daniel Mercadante has a slate of unique films under his belt, made in partnership with his wife Katina, as The Mercadantes, including Ball and Breathe. More recently, Daniel has been exploring the still image in a colorful series called Rainbow Road. Using long exposure photography and a custom built lighting rig covered in colored gels, the process of creating the images is surprisingly simple: the roads are created by Daniel running around with the lighting rig. No other post-production manipulation occurs, other than basic color and exposure balancing.
Do you run istayontumblr on AWS or a different host? I'm curious to know the type of server specs you have because it doesn't seem like a heavy application with an API call only once a minute, but most of the traffic being incoming HTTP and the responses.
hey! yeah so it’s on Heroku’s hobby dyno size (which is just AWS underneath) and there’s a github link on the bottom of the home page.
