In my head pre canon Sarah was a bitch. Even season 1 Sarah was a bitch. I know they try to write her as someone that’s supposed to be very sweet and different from the people in her environment, just misguided. Im not saying that those things aren’t true. Shes very compassionate, full of empathy and have a big heart. However Sarah does have a mean side that the writers did not lean into enough, considering her unlikable actions in season one are a huge part of who she is.
There’s no denying that Sarah Cameron was a mean girl. She’s a flawed woman. Inviting everyone but the girl she knew was already left out and had a hard time fitting in with the other kooks. The girl she knew saw her as a white knight of sort. She made her feel special, creating an illusion for her that the kook life wouldn’t be as bad from now on. Just to take that away from her. On top of that she made sure everyone turned around on said girl who she already knew felt alienated from the rest of the kooks.. hmm. I know Sarah was running the girls in that school.
Then even when she is briefly discussing the situation with John B before meeting the pogues it comes off as if she is purposely turning the tables and making it look like Kiara has no reason to be uncomfortable with her.
“Look John B if she’s gonna get territorial..” Sarah knew what she was doing with that. Painting a picture that Kiara is insecure and feels threatened by Sarah, but if anything Sarah is just as insecure over the situation. She knows that what she has done is wrong, and that Kiara has every reason to hate her but she’s fully set on blaming Kiara. Like she said, after bailing on people she puts the blame on the other person. Most likely to convince herself that she’s better off without that person, so she won’t have to deal with how many amazing relationships she’s losing due to her avoidant issues.
I’m not saying that she is a terrible bully with no compassion or empathy, because she is full of those things. Remember humans are full of contradictory traits, that’s what makes us humans. Sarah’s a very insecure individual. She doesn’t know how to have proper relationships with people where she is truly letting them in, hence causing her to push them away in a way that manifests into cruelty. I think her role as the golden child is also causing her to have issues with entitlement. She seems to believe that she can do a lot without consequences. Jumping between Topper and John B, and even before they were in the picture cheating on multiple guys.

She loved the long beach days and the late night pool parties. She loved the freedom and the taste of beer in her tongue. The sun and the salt and even the sand. Sarah cursed whoever thought kicking him out of Chapel Hill college was a good idea, and she double cursed Rafe himself for being an irresponsible asshole. But honestly, it hadn't come as a surprise to anyone, her brother had never done well in school.
And now he was back home. Back in Tannyhill. Back with her.
Dad may not trust him, but he knew better than to force someone like Rafe to go with them to the Bahamas. Sarah couldn't blame him for leaving him behind, she would have done the same.
But at least his schedule was completely fucked, he went to bed when he returned from a party —around the morning, if he returned the same day— and got up around lunch time. So Sarah didn't see much of him, thankfully.
“You think this would be enough?” she asked Scarlet, various packs of beers on the kitchen island.

“Ugh” Sarah sighed “I guess we could buy some with my allowance, but it can't be too much, I need that money to buy more beers so Ward doesn't realize they're gone”
“Not like he would do anything to Perfect Sarah if he did realize” Rafe’s voice annoyed her to the point of shutting her eyes and frowning.
Not for long. If she kept them close for too long he would probably take some of the beers and Scarlet would let him.
Rafe strode in the kitchen without a care in the world, wearing only his underwear. She swore she could hear Scarlet sighing like someone in a Disney movie. Her friend might as well have pink hearts over her head.
“What do you want?”
Rafe shrugged and reached to take a can, but Sarah was quick to slap his hand away.
“You know, I could tell dad what you’re doing”
Sarah smirked.
“Go ahead, he won't believe you. And even if he does, I can tell him how much time a day you spend high out of your mind”
“Fuck you!” he all but growled.
A few years ago she might've been hurt by the tone and the words, but time had grown her used to it.
Used to his hurtful words and gestures.
“Hi, Rafe” Scarlet then greeted with a smile and way-too-sultry voice.
Sarah rolled her eyes.
It was always the same with her friends, they all had a crush on Rafe for some reason.
“Scarlet” he replied dryly.
But those crushes were always one-sided.
“Why don't you leave?”
“Why don't you stop being such fucking a bitch?”
Sarah huffed, fists tightening.
“Stop insulting me!”
“I’m not insulting you. I’m describing you”
“Sure you are, you fucking psycho”
It was how they spoke to each other these days, cursing and insulting. Never giving each other a kind word. Because her brother had forgotten how to be kind, if he had ever known how to be anything but cruel and hostile.
Sarah couldn’t remember anything different coming from Rafe, not at that moment. Or in any other.
Rafe did not answer back, quickly taking a beer and disappearing upstairs.
“God, Sarah”
“I know” she sighed at Scarlet words.
“Your brother is so hot”

Sarah rolled her eyes.
The party turned out to be a bit of a bore.
Just your average pool party, nothing really worth all the trouble she went through to bring the beers. And Topper hadn’t really paid much attention to her, too busy making sure no one broke anything. Scarlet had spent the afternoon making out with Kelce and all her other friends had been doing things she really didn’t want to be part of.
When the night fell, Sarah went back home. Her bikini bottoms were still wet when she crossed the threshold of the manor.
