Feline ears twitched at the sound of a voice, heterochromia eyes shifting back ever so slightly to see the boy. They were the only ones around, so it was safe to assume that the child was speaking to him and him ALONE, an odd thing since he was nothing more than some stray at this point. His home had long been destroyed thanks to time itself, and every human he had ever watched over had grown up and passed away by now. He still checked on their family lineage from time to time, but he was more of a drifter at this point. Never really growing close to humans, and yet not avoiding them either. It wasn’t uncommon for humans to avoid him though because of his eyes color, a bad omen some would say but since quirks evolved humanity had changed. That was happening less and less, talking animals weren’t even that rare these days. The world was a much different place, and because of that, the ancient demon had to adapt.
Tail swished as he watched the hero in training offer him food, he must like cats to be sharing with a random stray he found on the street. He had grown used to eating a lot of things, but his favorite meal remained human FLESH. It was harder to obtain these days, with the rise of heroes demonic activity dropped as well. Going toe to toe with an overpowered snack isn’t worth the hassle, and to some extent, Amanojaku agreed. However, it sure as HELL was entertaining.
A wicked smirk formed on his face as he looked up at the boy, their eyes were similar. It immediately made him like the human just a little bit more, but beyond appearances, the boy carried burdens and emotions that the monster found interesting. Using his paw the creature pulled the box closer and began to eat the scraps. It was only after he had finished did he begin licking his paws to clean them, closing his eyes to focus on the task at hand.
Once he was done, his yellow eye opened to look at the boy still watching. The demonic feline watched for a moment longer looking over his uniform, he recognized it from television shows he had sometimes watched on passing in the past. That school was pretty famous, wasn’t it?
“So kid, are you training to be a hero too?
Not everyone stops on the street to feed a stray cat.”
It was not often that a smile graced his lips, but not even he could prevent the upward tilt at the corner of his mouth. What a set they were - gold and blue to go with his own mismatched eyes. He resists the urge to scratch behind the cat’s ears, or ruffle its fur, finding contentment in only observing. He could tell by its eyes that the animal held deep intelligence. It was perhaps watching him as closely as he watched it. Peculiar, but not unwelcomed. While the cat didn’t seem ecstatic about the meal, at least it was well received. Reaching over to collect his box, Todoroki’s hand froze mid-way.
While not exactly an oddity, none of the strays he fed ever spoke back, much less concern themselves with his hero status. He supposed he should be cautious, villains were plentiful these days, but he was in no rush to return to the house that was not a home. His father looked down on tardiness, but that was only more of a reason to be late. With a curious blink, and a slight tilt of his head, there was no harm in talking about what was public knowledge with a little bit of searching, right?
“ — Ah, yes. I go to U.A. Is it strange to feed stray animals? I’ve been told many times my actions could be rather ‘weird.’ ”
“ — And you - this is the first time I’ve ever seen you in this neighborhood. Are you looking for something, or someone? ”
