Last week was a lot of fun. I was able to make another set of ideas for Lazada. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to work because of class. I sent my ideas to sir Keno Enriquez through e-mail, trying to fit in as much of what I have learned from the previous pitches as I can. Hearing how the creatives come up with ideas, and seeing firsthand what pitches are like, was a really good experience.

Last week is my favorite week of internship because it was a busy week for us. We've attended talks of Ms. Angel Antonio and Ms. Susan Dimacali. I enjoyed both of their talks and gained some words of wisdom.

Ms. Angel shared her life and work experiences which really inspired and motivated me. I remember her saying that confidence is knowing what you can't do. Because of that, I realized that I shouldn't feel insecure just because I cant't do what others can, because we all have our fair share of strengths and weaknesses.

Ms. Sue shared her tips on how to become a "teacher's pet". The tips she gave are really useful especially for me and those who are thinking of being an AE. One of the things I realized is that being an Accounts person is a tough job because it requires to have the knowledge, the courage and all the traits needed to deal with the clients.

On that week, We were also asked to have our ideas for the videos, logos and slogans of two different brands. I had 10 slogan recommendations which I sent to Ms. Keisha Ferraris. After checking, she told me that what I did was headlines and not slogans so I think I should really learn for me to improve on that.

Today marks the last official week of my internship here at Aspac, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it! From the tasks that were given to me, in which I learned a lot! And I had also the chance to work with so many amazing people, from the maintenance staff and up to the employees and to my co-interns, who eventually became my friends.

Aspac indeed is the best platform for me to experience the so called “ahensya life.” Bittersweet feeling, I will surely miss everything. Thanks Aspac for the great experience!!!

Before my internship ends, I was able to hear the talk of the two most successful women in the office: Ms. Sue Dimacali and Ms. A (Angel Antonio). The talk of the two were the highlight of my week. "We cry so we can take in so much more" is the word of wisdom of Ms. A that is so memorable to me.

I also got a job order to search for potential influencers for a certain brand. T'was a busy week, yet I enjoyed it a lot!!

Last week at work, I presented my campaign idea for PCOS to Sir Joey Ong. The brief sent to me through e-mail made me realize just how important research is when coming up with new ideas. It was also a really nice feeling working on this, because it made me feel that ads really could be a medium to change the world for the better. I also experienced creating story ideas for Insular Life. I struggled a bit when it came to designing the character and making him relatable, but it was a good learning experience.

My 6th week of internship was kind of “chill”. On Tuesday, I presented the research I did for an upcoming pitch. It was a research on slogans and logos of different countries for us to see the theme and messaging of their campaigns. On Wednesday and Thursday, some of my co-interns had a brainstorming with Ms. Issay Nodalo, Ms. Fay Ballo and Sir Rey Leuterio but I wasn’t able to join them because we have class on those days. On Friday, I continued the competitive scan that I was doing since Tuesday and Ms. Mina Velando asked me to arrange the storyboard of a campaign which she would present to the ASC.

The 6th week of my internship was composed of amazing talks which were by far, the most interesting event during this internship, for me. The week started off with the company’s CEO (Sue Dimacali) and COO (Angel Antonio) sharing a talk with us interns on how they came about in the industry, how they survived and achieved the success they have today, and taught us several inspiring and enlightening tips and tricks not only for when we start to become one with the workforce but in life, in general, as well. As I loved hearing success stories from people who take part in shaping the world (or the country), I enjoyed every bit of the talk they shared with us. It was incredible hearing life stories from people you don’t know and don’t know you as it closes this imaginary gap that divides both individuals. Listening intently, I was thinking about how fortunate I was to witness and hear such words full of experiences, learnings and wisdom. It’s not always that you get to hear such things, I thought. It was amazing, too, how my co-interns were on the same page as me, sharing how they were moved by how welcoming the company’s CEO and COO are. It really was a pleasant experience.

The succeeding days were also fruitful and insightful as we (the interns) were able to take part in the FGDs and brainstorming for a new product of a client. I was able to showcase my skills in concept making and in digital art as we were tasked to create storylines, big ideas, slogans and logos for this particular product. It was fun working with my co-interns as we share our ideas however ridiculous they may seem. We usually do this kind of stuff in school but it has a different feeling doing it in an environment were ideas may really come to life.

My last days at Aspac are coming too quickly that I wanted to condense as much learnings and experiences to my brain because I know that I will truly be able to make use of these not only in school, but in real life occasions, as well, hopefully making me a prepared and a well-rounded individual ready to face any challenges ahead.

Last week was amazing! I was able to attend a seminar by Ms. Angel Antonio and Ms. Sue Dimacali, where I learned about the importance of balancing life with work, and the importance of client relationships. I was also able to help create logos for DigiBayanihan, and pitch for Check Me Out. It was a great experience, and I hope to keep on learning from this.

When your friends ask how your week was: *GIF by Tasha Uichico*

This week was probably one that did not only help me hone my skills as a creative for both art and copy but also the more insightful yet busiest one so far. It was this week that I heard the stories of the big bosses in the agency. It was this week that I was able to get a glimpse of the offline and post-production of an advertisement. It was this week where I learned how to use Illustrator and practice my copywriting skills… IN FILIPINO.

Despite the diversity of tasks and talks given and experienced, the insight that I took away from this week was to not treat every moment in the agency as work, but rather, treat it as another day to go on adventures, to play, to improve, and to inspire others. This is my passion after all.

My fifth week of internship was composed of brainstorming, brainstorming and researching. It was a wonderful experience to become a part of a huge project that can potentially represent the country and make an impact to the world. I was so giddy to do the task that I didn’t mind doing it at home during the weekends (even if it was an assignment). I was able to do the work with my intern mates which allowed us to do it easily and precisely mainly because of our teamwork. (Aye!) By the end of the week, I was able to witness the monthly gathering of the company, celebrating the birthdays of their employees from the months of May and June. It was thrilling to see that they prepare as much as buying individual cakes for the celebrants, karaoke, and some food to share. This scenario makes me think how close the company and their employees are to each other that they consider each other as family.

Lights, Camera, Achooooooo!

The week I have been looking forward to since my team informed me about it — The Kenny Rogers Roasters product photo and video shoot. I have never been to an actual shoot before but I knew this would be a great opportunity to immerse myself in and learn more about the production side of advertising, especially since I am a creative.

The first day of the shoot, which was the product photo shoot was something that I found very exciting and adventurous, but terribly long. I could say that I was pretty culture shock. Who would have thought that shooting a piece of whole chicken would take almost 14 hours? Not me. While the lighting and set were perfected with ease, the food styling of the chicken that comes along with it leaves me with utter amazement. I think they even used a total number of 23 whole chickens during the entirety of the shoot.

The second shoot, however, was something else. The day before the product video shoot, I got cough with bad colds and severe pain, but still went to the shoot the day after. I felt terrible but I knew this was another opportunity that I was not supposed to miss. However, because everyone noticed how bad I looked, they had to send me home right after I finished my task for the day.

Other than the technical aspects of production and a few Photoshop tips and tricks, the most important thing that I learned was to always listen to your body. Yes, it may be admirable to push yourself in these situations, but if your body cannot take it, you should know when to stop and say “not today” because your work output may also be compromised.

This past week I had the chance to work with my co-interns! Ms. Issay Nodalo gave us a task, which is to research on the current and past slogans of each country in the world. It was a bit frustrating at first since the countries assigned to me were African countries. Some of their countries didn’t have slogans nor logos. After presenting the result of our research, another task was given to us which is to group countries by their slogans. We came up with 7-8 categories and placed 144 countries in different areas. After this, we presented again and did a SWOT analysis of the Philippines. It was such a cool experience, to brainstorm and throw around ideas. It felt like we were really part of Aspac and we weren’t just interns. It also gave me the chance to bond with the other interns and chika with Aspac’s start team, Ms. Issay, Ms. Fay Ballo and Sir Rey Leuterio. Only two weeks left and I’ll surely miss this!

Week 4 of internship was interesting. I was able to sit down in a meeting with the production team, discussing details about a shoot. Even if I was not able to attend the shoot itself, I somehow was able to have a glimpse of what it would look like and sound like because of discussion/meeting. As well, I was able to participate in a brainstorming of a different team (because my mentor was out, thank you for adopting me other team’s mentors!) and share my take on bid ideas and storylines. It was kind of quiet, however, because of the start of the rainy season and as some of my intern-mates were not around on some days because of school. Nevertheless, I was yet again able to learn new things and experience the ad agency life even if it is subtle and minimal.

Unlike the past week, this week is my busy week. I was tasked to do a digital competitive scan for a certain brand and present to my team. I was nervous that time, thinking what if I fail? Good thing my mentor guided me and explained some of my mistakes in the presentation. I learned a lot from it. I was also asked to accompany my mentor in the client meeting somewhere in Ortigas. It was a great experience to meet an actual client and be in a legit meeting. A great week indeed!

Last week, we had a talk about copywriting. I found it incredibly interesting, and I’m glad I was able to attend. I learned about the kind of ads we should be making, and the things to remember when copywriting (such as clarity, focal point and context). We were also able to researched about different campaigns for an upcoming pitch. Through that, I was able to see how great ideas could be made.
