Kevin Spacey.

I want to first applaud Anthony Rapp for his personal courage, and say that I genuinely hope his weight has been lifted. I’ve never been a victim of Sexual Assault or harassment, but to carry that around and feel trapped for decades must’ve been an unmeasurable task, and like I said I hope he feels some sort of relief from being able to talk about it and come to terms with it. But onto Kevin. There is a lot of things wrong with his statement. I think it was a selfish and cowardly move to try and use coming out as a shield, or a distraction. It’s moraly repugnant, and paints an unfair picture of the LGBTQ community. The people who are defending him are just as bad because the facts are right there in his own words. He admits that he may have made sexual advances towards a 14 year old boy. It’s in black and white. Clear as day. Despite the fact that he stated he doesn’t remember if he did so due to being drunk, he actually says that it’s a possibility that he did; that is enough in my mind to describe the type of person he is, and the things he is capable of doing. Drunk or not. So again, there is nothing to defend here. As someone who had a consensual sexual relationship with Kevin, this sort of hits me in a different way that it would a fan or a stranger reading about him. I feel like it’s a completely different person, but it’s not. While he was perfectly respectful, and a gentleman with me for the time I knew him, I obviously didn’t know the real him. I find this whole situation and his actions disappointing, disgusting, and ultimately unforgivable. So if me, someone who cared deeply about him at one point in time, can see how bad and indefensible this is, so should the rest of the world. That is all. -L.R
