She’s the writer for Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, an upcoming Indian coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama with a lesbian couple.  She was also the dialogue writer for Lipstick Under My Burkha, which depicts the secret world, including the sex lives, of four small-town Indian women. She contributed to the screenplay for Wazir and Qarib Qarib Single.

In a season with multiple rapists, at least 2 people who participated in a lynching, and fuckin daniel, somehow louis is consistently treated the worst and spoken about in the most dehumanizing ways possible for the crime of... talking about being abused in a book he didnt want published

I think that… perhaps… if you are going to adapt a character as a brown man, and take his traumatic history of over-sexualization since youth (which is the crux of his backstory in the source material) and make that a shared trait between him and a white character, and then treat this trait as something that makes the brown man worthy of derision while simultaneously using it to help humanize the white man and rationalize his abusive actions, you should be prepared for people to point out the racist implications of that choice.

The death of this show will be caused by the thousand and one quips, that the amc writers' room have convinced themselves are quirky and funny. Notice how all of their jokes this season are made at the expense of lived realities that are far different from those the writers themselves may have faced? So you will have a pronoun joke here and a little racism there, with a dash of misogyny sprinkled in between. I cannot get over their little jokey "justice4antoniette", not only because the history of s1- the man of the house cheating on his black spouse with a racist white lady, who was then entrusted with the task of killing the black girl child this marriage produced-but also it feels like such an insensitive jab at the phrase in itself. Something that's so often used as a call to action for victims of violence, and sure we joke around with the phrase too and in fact mayhaps at times diluted it too- but this? THIS?? with the context we have of a TV show that once centered two black leads much to the chagrin of many, so now when there's someone else to lead the show, the characters both black and brown are being made into caricatures and flattened to death in an attempt to soothe the ruffled feathers... Yeah, that's just nasty. Also when you have "Louisiana fried chicken"/"big bad wolf"/"cancerous jackal" all wrt to a black gay man, and then a piece of costume which goes:" hip hop sucks" then the writing is already on the wall, no?

it's actually very in character that when louis brings up the opera and he doesn't even attempt to address the fact that he was made to attend as lestat's valet, lestat's only commentary is that he has fond memories of those times. it wasn't lestat who had to carry his hat and wait standing behind the seats for the lights to dim. will they adress this in a way that's serious and respectful in the show? the fact that they nodded at this moment in the teaser tells me they've said everything they wanted to say. on to the next joke, like the white mistress lestat kept as the side piece and was apparently so much more complex than what louis and claudia, who was almost killed by her, described her as.

I hate that the MCYT community genuinely cares more about "boundary breaking" than the rampant sexism and racism in their spaces. Like why don't you direct ur energy and anger towards THAT instead of publically shaming ppl for what they post on ao3??

Im re-emphasizing this bc y'all will literally send death threats to teenagers and force them off of the internet for drawing something (even when its properly tagged and not shoved in anyones face at all) but I still see people regularly post art of Manepear as a white person and receive NO criticism despite the fact that he has very publically stated that he is Black/Ethiopian. Sometimes they draw him as a white man with dreads??? And y'all srsly have no issue with this

In response to people saying that IN THE BOOKS, Armand commits the worse atrocities and therefore is the "worst" character in IWTV, I have to say, frankly, FUCK the books - according to the SHOW and Lestat's OWN narrative, LESTAT is responsible for the majority of the horrible things that happen in IWTV. Not only to Claudia and Louis, obviously, but he's also largely responsible for what happened to Nicki and DIRECTLY CAUSED THE GREAT CONVERSION. 99% of the problems of the IWTV universe (at least among the main cast) would not have happened without him.

Aside from the obvious issues that everyone is bringing up regarding the boundary stuff, I feel like a lot of new MCYT's seem to associate THEMSELVES with the characters that they create/portray in stories, which is just not how these kind of things are supposed to work - ESPECIALLY with scripted SMP content. And it's just so weird to me like, you KNOW that's not you, right? You know people aren't making fanart of YOU, right? They're making art of the character that you PORTRAY. So why do you care who that person gets shipped with and what they draw? It's a character. It's fictional. It's NOT you.

And what gets me rly bad is I've seen this issue most with very lore-heavy series, like Unstable and Decayed and Decrepit. Bc you're LITERALLY playing a character that you wrote. You're not an old-man in a post-apocalyptic world fighting of zombies, you're a man who sits in front of a computer for 70% of the day to play a block game. It might even be understandable if it was coming from, like, a Hermitcraft creator, bc they're not neccessarily playinv any characters but that's EXPLICITLY a different person. Why are you acting like ppl are making art of you? They're not.

I really appreciate how, as far as I'm aware, all of hermitcraft has responded to fandom. They've let us know they're aware, sometimes they even joke about it, some people call it weird, some people play into it, but overall, I believe most of them have never set boundaries about it. It's not their space they don't step in. Scar will get donations asking about boundaries and he'll play dumb and talk about package shipping. They don't attempt to police people's creativity or treat their audience like hired fanwork creators.

Anyway friendly reminder that creators have no authority to police your creativity. They are weird for trying. Their fandom space is NOT for them. The only time boundaries are relevant to me is when fans start harassing creators in the creators own spaces, which is weird.
