As an immigrant, I really think Elia would code switch when she’s in King’s Landing. She would definitely put on a more common noble accent in front of the nobles, especially Aerys, to blend in with them and gain their trust and respect. But with Rhaegar, she talks in her normal Dornish accent because they’re friends and she trusts him. He doesn’t make fun of her Dornishness.

HOWEVER, and here’s the catch, after the events of the tourney etc etc take place, she talks to Rhaegar in a King’s Landing accent because he has betrayed that trust and humiliated her. She doesn’t feel safe around him. She also stops calling him Rhaegar and addresses him as “My Prince” or “Your Grace” because that’s the only way she can distance herself from him. She can’t pack up her bags, take the kids and retire to Dorne. She also can’t beat the crown prince up. This is how she shows her anger. She is also subconsciously building these walls and guarding herself when it comes to the accent. And Rhaegar absolutely catches this and he’s weirded out by it. He tells her to stop calling him that and she continues. He tells her to stop speaking like that and she’s like “what do you mean?” and he can’t quite explain it.
