Inside Q’s vast office amongst the numerous equipment sits a single rubber duck. On the bad days where he can’t tell one code from another he talks to it, giving it detailed reviews of each report. Sometimes more than one are required.

“Bloody ‘ell-!” His hand, and whatever item of clothing was grasped in it, shot down to cover his crotch once he realised that Q was stood in the doorway. Suddenly, what with all his surgery scars and whatnot, Greg wished he could just snap his fingers and be fully clothed. But alas, he could not; best he could do was scrabble to find the rest of his clothes and attempt to finish getting changed, quick-sharp.

“You scared the shit outta me-!” Greg told him, trying to ignore the blush creeping up his neck. “What’re you playing at, lurking in doorways?”

“They’re all old, anyway. They don’t matter.” 

“On the contrary, all wounds are proof that one has survived.” He mused with a soft gentle gleam in his eyes. Truth be told, he felt awkward around the other especially seeing him in this state. It felt something that he should not have the privilege to see someone so raw and naked. “How can I be of assistance? I’m sure a fine cup of tea should settle you. Or perhaps a talk?”

“My apologies, detective inspector.” said Q with an apprehensive smile as he wrung his hands out albiet nervously. “I was merely concerned with your well being.” Out of politeness he glanced away from all those scars and couldn’t help but frown. “How are you keeping? I notice you have a lot of wounds. Are you alright?”
