i opened this blog nearly three years ago as a way to cope with the deepest depressive episode i’ve ever been in. and a lot has changed since then. im not into the things i was into back then and i wouldnt even say im the same person i was back then. so i want a fresh start.
I want to tell you my sad story. The harrowing war on Gaza erupted on 7/10/2023, plunging us into chaos and upheaval. Today, I find myself displaced in Rafah, residing in a precarious tent with nowhere else to turn. The dire circumstances weigh heavily on my heart as I yearn to continue my education, a passion that once ignited my soul. Yet, I am frustrated in my endeavors, gripped by profound sadness at the stagnation of my life amidst the ongoing genocide and relentless displacement.
It will not be easy, but it is not impossible for me to continue my education. I need your support and standing with me to support my family, who are now in tents. I want to continue my education, and I want to save my life from this genocide and leave as soon as possible.
This war may have shattered my spirit and dashed my dreams, but it will not extinguish the flame of hope that burns within me.
Hurry to support me so that I can be on the safe area, complete my education, and rid myself of this genocide.

Hey guys! I've had a chat with Omar, and this is a legitimate fundraiser! Please share and if you can donate, please try and contribute. Every bit counts. Let's get Omar and his family to safety so they can have a future!
I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
There's a large cohort who are dismissive of the concept of adhering to an ideology that shapes consumption habits. The advertising of companies we are broadly forced to deal with represents a massive industry of opinion-makers who report to the ultrawealthy, with a vested interest in consumption habits.
"No ethical consumption" is a tragic truism which has been corrupted into an excuse for anything short of social-suicide taboos. Life is made difficult and companies prey on how people cope, pouring more of the world's landscapes and ecosystems and manhours and lives into it because those mean nothing to them except what you pay for them. Part of our struggle out of that is to find something more compelling to grasp onto. It's about responsibly constructing an alternative narrative.
"Well, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" just serves power when paying for something you're hypothetically opposed to which has a practical alternative. Learning to resist that is vital. None of this conflicts with working toward a shift in power; in fact, it bolsters it.
people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.
so the house of representatives just passed a bill that will now move to the senate to BAN tik tok completely in the united states and they are expected to argue that “national security risks” outweigh the freedom of speech and first amendment rights. biden has already said that if it gets to him, he will sign it. whether or not you use the app…….this is something to be worried about
before u have the kneejerk reaction of “good I hate tt anyways” or “maybe ppl will go outside” that’s not what this is about! the government wants to remove an entire app with over 170 million american users (who in large have used it as a platform to build community, consume and spread world news, advocate, organize), and try to force people back to us based apps like meta and google. please think about the implications. please think about what else they could potentially do if they get away with this. this could very well set a precedent for free speech & constitutional rights as well know it, and it is imperative we are on the right side of it
By the way, the actual language of the bill would allow them to ban any website or internet hosted app from a "foreign adversary", as described in the vaguest possible terms. This isn't about tiktok and will not stop at tiktok.
