Is gone girl your favourite book? You haven't updated your fics in a while so I'm kinda of desperate to know anything about your writing process as a writer myself bc I love your style so much. I reread Alexander at least once a month :,)
Heyyyy! This is such a sweet ask <3
I feel real bad about the slow updates- they're in the process! I'm really bad at time management and I'm in the hospital 7 days a week this year. I'm figuring it out slowly. Back to your question...
Gone girl is a great book! It was a feminist bible for me when I was 14. The writing is fantastic, the themes are forever relevant and I think few paragraphs will ever be as memorable to me as the cool girl monologue. It's in the top ten for me for sure. That said, I find favourite books difficult to recommend because I go through a lot of genre phases. I had a long winded thriller and domestic suspense phase. A year where I exclusively read sad, gay coming of age books fresh from Iowa's MFA program. Then a lot of sad girl, weird sex books fresh from Iowa's MFA program. Then I got into ancient historical fiction, medieval historical fiction. Books about divorce caused by Iow'a MFA program. Apocalypse fiction. Abstract short fiction. Trangenderism in horror. These days I'm reading a lot of Kaveh Akbar and Dolly Alderton! Good material was SO funny but also completely changed the way I viewed love versus independence. Anyways, I think this reply has gotten away from me. What I meant to say is that if you want real recommendations- get specific with genre. Also, like, DM ME! I love talking about books! :)
