It might be time to make the choice to get back into fanfiction and post here less. I've got lots of ideas for Jayvik... So as not to lose track of my projects, an inventory of all I have left to do here and on AO3 is therefore in order, in no order of precedence or preference because I'm unable to follow a strict guideline:

1) Write my long overdue replies to some reblogs and comments;

2) Make a masterlist of my Arcane/Jayvik posts;

3) Do the same for my Mortal Kombat/Bi-Han posts;

4) Write my other Arcane/Jayvik post ideas, including the second part of this meta (that makes about 8 projects in all);

5) Do the same for my MK/Bi-Han post projects, including the second part of this analysis too (that's about 8 projects);

6) Make corrections in some posts;

7) Overhaul and rebuild my tag system (on nearly 1000 posts), because all went pear-shaped a long time ago.

Ditto for AO3:

1) Finish my Liuhan fic;

2) Post the second part of this Lin Kuei brothers analysis;

3) Gather and publish all my Tumblr Arcane/Jayvik posts in a single collection;

4) Write all my Jayvik fic projects (so far: 4).

Writing the fics will probably take me months since English is my second language. So maybe I'll come back in between chapters to tackle a couple of my Tumblr goals each time. I don't know. There's nothing important here, so I'll just figure things out as I go along.

I just watched Mortal Kombat 2. I might write a post to share my thoughts, but for now all I can say is that it’s a great blockbuster, and as a 30-year MK fan, I’m super hyped. In my opinion, the movie has some minor flaws, but they’re nothing compared to the total mess that was the first one; and considering that video game movie adaptations are often terrible, I’m not going to complain about what they did with MK2. They listened to the fans, and it shows. I really hope there will be an MK3. In short, I loved it; it’s the MK movie that fans needed and deserved all this time.

After all these months since I got your ask, it’s finally time for me to get back to you. I didn’t forget you, but the constant demands of daily life, my weariness with blogging and fandom (though not with MK or Bi-Han themselves), plus the fact that your two questions—as interesting as they were—stumped me, kept me from getting back to you in a timely manner. And of course, I also want to thank you so much for your lovely words and for reaching out to me! I’m happy if my previous thoughts on Bi-Han and Sektor resonate with other fans—that’s why I shared them in the first place.

So here's my answer, at long last, though I’m afraid it won’t consist of a long, reasoned argument like I usually do. It’s not for lack of trying—I’ve tried many times—but I just don’t have the energy for that right now. So in short, here’s what I think:

1) that only a deep ideological disagreement could cause them to break up. They genuinely love each other—the game drops hints that this is the case—but their shared goal for the Lin Kuei has become so deeply ingrained as the foundation of their personalities and relationship that if one of them were to abandon this goal or attempt to alter certain of its aspects against the other’s wishes, their relationship wouldn’t survive it—they’d be so lost that one might fear they’d be unable to redefine it on any basis other than this quest for the Lin Kuei’s hegemony;

2) that their greatest flaw in a relationship is, precisely, their extreme intransigence. You can’t build a healthy and balanced romantic relationship on that basis. I didn’t like Sekhan at first (being primarily a Bireena shipper, that’s understandable, but I’m now able to appreciate both ships in their own way, especially as a Bi-Han multishipper who also ships Liuhan and Bivado), but I’ve come to realize that it’s a relevant ship in MK1 and fascinating in more ways than one. Do they truly love each other and care for each other? I think so. Do they love each other for the right reasons though, and in a way that makes them happy and allows them to thrive? I actually don’t think so. They’re toxic to each other and drag each other down, and their love is clearly self-destructive. But again, for me, that’s what makes them so interesting to study.
