Gillette's Venus Embrace Sensitive

This new 5 blade razor is designed for sensitive skin, touting "less feel of irritation" compared to a regular 3 blade razor.

I first tried it with a shaving cream and found that the five blades got clogged very easily and needed a lot of rinsing. The shave wasn't that much better than just using a razor with fewer blades.

Then I tried it again without any shaving product and it worked a lot better, but it didn't seem to be any different from the regular Embrace line.

However, I usually don't getting razor burn or shaving irritation, unless I am rushing to shave and get sloppy and push too hard on my skin.

Overall I think this razor was okay, I am content with its performance. It might been good for people who shave a lot more often than I do and experience greater skin sensitivities.

My first Testerkorea haul!

Etude House double eyelid tape - Bought this to try it out. It's very visible when applied because the strips are not double-sided.  FoodaHolic masks (collagen & snail) It's Skin Mangowhite Peeling Gel - My first peeling gel, it smells really nice! I tried it out on my hand so far but not my face because I dermaplaned pretty recently. It's Skin UV Perfect Sun Block Mizon Snail Repair eye cream Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel - This one is a lot of fun to shake and watch jiggle, heh. I mix it with some concealer to thin out the thick texture and make it soothing! Also excited to try out all the other uses (brow gel, face mask, cooling eye treatment, etc). Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Oil - I bought this because I was running out of my Kose Deep Cleansing one. Chose this one because according to musingsofamuse it smelled like Fresh's Lemon Sugar perfume. Unfortunately it doesn't and smells mostly like lemon household cleaner. At least it's not too strong a scent, but I feel very eh about this one.

Shipping time for this order was average, taking two weeks. I am pretty disappointed that I didn't get any samples though. :/

Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes Review

Each cake is 2.1oz and has 210 calories each, and come in boxes of five.

I had tried Tastykake products before that were not terrible, but not very quality as a snack. But given the chance to try it again, I was looking forward to this, only to be let down. :(

On opening the package I found that the outside chocolate layer had peeled away from the cake itself, which is what happens with cheap snack cakes. That is why I didn't include a picture of what the cake cross-section looks like because my cake was a gross mess coming out of the wrapper. :/

I was really disappointed in the flavor because it was much too sweet. It didn't taste anything like s'mores to me because all I could taste was sugar. Whether there was a difference between the cake and the "marshmallow" cream filling is a mystery to me still because it was all a blur of sugar and sponginess. Texture-wise, it is nothing to write home about, just soft and melty but hard to enjoy with sugary bomb exploding in your face.

Overall, I can pass on this one.

I think now that it's summer time I will have more time to blog about beauty. The things I have in mind already are summer essentials and things I want to try out and such.

Current Faves

Hey all!

I feel like I should actually use this blog more often despite school and such.

Recent products that I've been enjoying are:

1. Skin79 Super Beblesh Balm BB Cream Hot Pink Label I really like this BB cream because it's affordable and reliable in quality, especially for medium-toned, oily skin types like me. The consistency is creamy but does not get oily throughout the day. Coverage is good enough to just wear alone to even out the skin tone, just remember to set with some powder. For reference I'm around NC25-30.

2. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 I haven't found many inexpensive drugstore moisturizers that are really suited to oil skin except for this old standby. It's gentle and does not have too much fragrance. Also doesn't leave behind a greasy feeling on my face. Thumbs up!

3. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque This is also an ol' reliable. It's really refreshing to use about once a week or so to revive my skin, but I definitely don't leave it as long as it says to on the bottle (15 minutes). Ten minutes is good for me even with my oily skin because it starts to dry out and feel too tight. Also good for putting on potential or active blemishes to dry them up overnight!

I have heard and read so much about NYC in Sunny as a fairly good matte, inexpensive bronzer.

Day 5

I don't think I can visibly see a difference yet, but here are some thoughts about the product usage and application method:

I had tried Crest whitening strips before, but not the Professional Effects line. Those other ones dissolved and took only ten minutes per application, but I think it was twice a day so a total of twenty minutes. I didn't like them because they left a strange film on my teeth that was sweetened but really gross.

These are plastic strips that have a gel on them that you apply. When they are in use there is a cooling, tingling feeling. As you peel them off you can see that there is also what looks like a bubbly film-like consistency left on the surface of your teeth but it wears off pretty quickly. It doesn't taste weird which is also a plus.

They are okay so far in my opinion, but we'll see if they really work or not soon enough.
