the whole point of girls doing the not like other girls thing is basically them believing that the girls around them lack an interior life. they were raised on depictions of women as shallow caricatures and they recognize themselves to be actual people with thoughts and feelings, but instead of drawing the conclusion that these depictions of women are incorrect, they draw the conclusion that those depictions of women are correct and that must mean they're smarter and have more substance than the "average" woman. to exit the not like other girls phase means recognizing that all real life women have the same level of interiority as you do, and that depictions of women in the media as consistently empty headed and frivolous are misogynistic stereotypes not grounded in reality.

i say all this to say that to exit a not like other girls phase does not necessitate taking an interest in "traditionally feminine" ways of dress and makeup, nor does it mean never saying anything negative about the beauty industry

It’s DOOOOONE! It’s finally finished! Oh my gosh, what a journey this has been! I started concept on this last July (2020) and have been working in chunks via Instagram Lives to complete this sequel papercraft of the Six of Crows for over a year! I’m so excited to present Hook And Crook, inspired by a specific scene that happens in Crooked Kingdom. I’ve been stating this over and over again during the lives, but there were specific mirrors happening here between the two papercrafts that wholly define the dynamics of the characters and the two books.  

We talked about how the symbols in the facade of the Slat in Featherdark (Six of Crows papercraft) represented the strengths of each character (cane, knife, guns, bombs etc). The crow is standing proud and upright, above the city, to symbolize the upper-hand that the dregs had during SOC.

Now, the tables have turned in Hook And Crook. The symbols on the facade of the hotel show the character’s weaknesses (gloves, a red bird, gambling wheel, Dunyasha’s stars, paintbrush & laurels etc). The crow is defensively crouching with its hackles raised, the city above and oppressing - all representing the dregs having to turn and fight under dire circumstances. And bonus! When you put the two side-by-side, a little nod to a certain Ravkan symbol takes form! What a stupidly fun project this was! I’m so happy it’s finally finished and I thank you all for those who joined me in the lives to watch the process! (so sorry for the low quality on this; Featherdark is my most pilfered artwork for unsanctioned merch 💔)

That one post that’s like “Why do people always write characters in fantasy and historical settings with a generic ‘vial of oil’ by the bed?” always bugs me

It’s sex oil for sex, clearly in this setting that’s what it’s specialized for and why it’s there

“What kind of oil? Cooking oil? Saddle oil? Lamp oil?” No clearly it’s a kind used for this purpose

Why do you want an explanation mid sex scene for the production history of this oil. Why is it weird to you that there’s not an in depth explanation of the history of this oil

Do you read contemporary fiction and say “Um excuse me what do you mean there’s a ‘tube of lube’ by the bed? What kind of lube? Is it machinery lubricant? Surgical lubricant? You didn’t explain as the sex scene happened and now I’m so confused!”

Like. Why is this something that breaks a scene for you.

+spicy foods are now part of the “hot” category and can no longer avoid this category by specing purely into aggressive flavor +all calzones now include the sauce inside them to avoid unnecessary dipping +bananas now have clearly defined peeling points +removed drying factor from salt water to make it a hydration drink again +buffed amount of time scrambled eggs will stay hot in open air +by popular demand we have made it so nutcrackers now also work on coconuts +we felt the gutting process was two confusing to newer players so now all fish and crustaceans rapidly expel their bones and organs upon being heated +banana skin now possess a more satisfying crunch to persuade player choice and make the banana meta more even -microwave foods now have a maximum 20% chance of failure to avoid over centralizing the meta -watermelons water content has been nerfed in order to bring it more in line with other melons -fixed a bug that allowed celery to be consumed without calorie gain -increased the ingredient requirement for cereal to bring it more in line with other soups -fixed a glitch that allowed users to eat ramen with two knives instead of chopsticks -fixed a glitch that allowed hotdogs to be eaten from the ends, users will now start in the middle as intended -fixed a glitch that made Chex Mix the only cereal that could be consumed without milk
