Dana was on her way to grab dinner and a drink when a sound caught her attention in the alley way. She couldn't quite tell what it was, but the sight of blonde hair stopped her in her tracks. Annika. No. Dana shook her head to herself, knowing that her best friend was dead. It only left one other person. Ingrid. Dana stared, only blinking once she was spotted by Ingrid herself. "Oh, well," her gaze flickered to Ingrid's bag in her hand. "Just you beating that wall up with your bag." She tried to joke, a faint smile pulling at the corner of her lips. "What did it do to you?" @ingridnystrom
She took a breath, wiping her cheeks a little. "Honestly it wasn't even the bag. The wall was me. Or Erik. Or maybe this whole fucking day." Ingrid shook her head and looked down before moving to rest against the wall. "I'm just done with it all. I mean, how fair is it that I'm older than my sister? The one person I was supposed to share a birthday with forever is gone?" She released a shaky breath. "And in a wave of grief, I go and dye my hair and now..." She swallowed. "I'm so tired." @danaxallenlopez

Ingrid's head was pounding. Given her brother's reaction to her hair, her birthday, and just grieving her sister, she had drank a lot the previous night and was now paying for it. As she scrambled from the bed, she found she was out of coffee and now she was irritated with herself. Getting dressed and avoiding herself in the mirror, she grabbed her bag and headed out so she could get something. As she opened the door to the building, she bumped into Sam and she looked at him. "Sorry." She told him before standing there looking at him. "You okay?"
Rick Grimes took his sweet time. His slow, hesitant steps were soundless as he neared and decreased the distance between him and Sam, who knelt down and offered some treats on his palm. With narrowed pupils, the feline studied the offered snack, sniffed and then rubbed its furry cheek against the tips of Sam's fingers with a soft pur. "Come on, Bud." Sam spoke, as if the cat could decipher the meaning of his words. "We can cuddle later, but first you gotta eat." For a moment, Sam forgot that Ingrid stood not too far from him. For a moment, he forgot about the small troll figurine on the shelf, who Annika had named Glinda for reasons that were beyond his comprehension, that stared at the odd scene taking place in the living room. For a moment, he forgot about his pain. "Come on." A soft nudge, his words encouraging and it was all it took for Rick to take the first bite of the offered treats. @ingridnystrom
Ingrid watched him for a moment and took a breath. Of course the cat would come out for Sam. She tried not to take it personally and she was at least glad the cat was coming out for someone. She watched as Rick came out and started eating the treats. A sigh of relief escaped her lips and she felt maybe now there was some hope that the cat would be okay. "Thank you." She spoke softly, scared she would scare Rick Grimes away. "Really. I appreciate this." @samxbradford

After how Erik reacted to her hair, Ingrid knew it was the worst decision she could've made and this birthday was officially the worst one of her life. She was upset and now she felt like she needed a drink. Sadly, though, there was no parking spot nearby Wingman's Pub so she had to park down the street and she felt like she was storming down there while trying to keep tears inside. Every time she passed a window, she caught her reflection and it felt like she was just seeing Annika. That wasn't helping the tears and some started spilling out. She dipped into an alley and started hitting the wall with her bag. After a moment, she took a breath and turned to see Dana there. "Oh, Dana." She wiped her cheeks and took a breath. "How much did you see?"

"Oh, I'm sorry." Ingrid said as she bumped into someone on the street. The face seemed familiar, but right now, she couldn't place it. With her birthday coming up, she felt more out of it than she did after her sister passed. She felt like she was running on fumes and everything was moving quickly while she was trying to just process things. "I should've been paying attention. Are you okay?"

The decision was an impulse that maybe she should've thought a little more about. The blonde hair she hadn't had for years was back and as she looked at herself in the rearview mirror outside of her brother's place, all she saw was Annika. This morning, that was almost the point. She woke up on what was her 33rd birthday with more emotion than she knew what to deal with. For the first time in her life, she was older than her twin sister. The thought alone was enough to send her spiraling. And looking in the mirror, everything just felt wrong. She needed a change. So she called the salon, booked an appointment, and now hours later, she was back to being blonde.
A car driving by pulled her from her thoughts and she took a deep breath before grabbing her bag and heading into Erik's place. She walked in and looked around before calling out his name. "Erik? Are you here?"
"That's good." She said; forcing a smile then looking away for a moment once Dana had the cup. She swallowed, feeling her heart ache and wished she could stop feeling this way. "I hope so." Though, she wasn't sure if her helping was what they wanted. She wasn't good at the whole bedside manner thing. She wasn't good at being there for people. She knew that. And while she was going to try, deep down, she knew she wasn't the twin they wished was there helping. "I should've came home sooner." @danaxallenlopez
She took a small sip from the cup before setting it down again. "Don't do that to yourself." Dana knew that tone, knew that guilt was rewriting history. She was doing it herself, but listening to someone else do it? That was something she could try to fix. "Even if you had been here sooner, you couldn't have stopped it." That was something that she had told herself over and over again, because she was there. Dana had been there, sitting there next to Erik and Annika without being able to do a damn thing to help. @ingridnystrom

"Weird... Weird." That was probably the best way to describe something that was missing. It was weird, for he felt like he was moving his foot, but knew that if he looked down, that there was nothing there. The painkillers helped to make him stress out less, but barely. Eyes drifted to his sister, now having no issue to distinct her from Annika and he shook his head. "You're fine." He said, taking a deep breath, eyelids closing for a moment until he forced them wide again. "Think you could walk Fenrir for me?" He asked, setting his sister out on a quest in order to distract her. Wondering if anyone had thought of his loyal canine. "Maybe sneak her in here if you can." @ingridnystrom
Ingrid took a breath, wiping her eyes, and she nodded a moment before looking back at her brother. "Yeah. I can walk her." She told him before nodding. "I'll see what I can do." She knew it probably wouldn't happen, but she would at least make sure the dog was taken care of. And her sister's cat. "I, um, I'll go check on her now." She said and moved, giving her brother's hand a squeeze. "I'll be back soon. I promise." @erikxnystrom

Trailing every single one of her steps, Sam moved like the autopilot had been engaged. One lonely day had been chasing the other in the past weeks, that the world had moved on just like that, without her. Nothing had changed and yet, his whole life had shifted and crawled underneath a gloomy veil. There was no more blue skies and sunlight pouring in through half-shut blinds. Sam stopped when Ingrid opened the door and he realized too late that he was holding his breath. As the door swung open, instantaneous regret sidled up to him. He was expectant of Annika's silhouette in the apartment's warm interior and as he moved forward, almost hesitantly, he realized nothing had changed and something about that was deeply upsetting. Enough to almost piss him off, if he thought about it for longer than a second at best. It was one deep breath that filled his lungs with the scent he'd come to associate with her and it only grew the lump inside his throat. Turning to Ingrid as she spoke, he felt bad, bad, bad. How many times he had not understood how someone could spoil a cat quite as much as Annika had with Rick Grimes, while he now would do anything if it meant for the feline to be content. I don't know what to do. Ingrids words sat there as Sam moved further into the apartment, that felt empty and alive with her essence, all at the same time and it all weighed heavy on him. Well, shit. I don't know either. "He'll probably get used to you in time." Taking a bag of Rick Grimes' favorite treats, opposing to the cans stacked in the cabinet, Sam made a point to open it louder than necessary. "Rick," he called out, knowing than sometimes it had done the trick. "Come on, buddy." Rustling with the bag of treats, Sam ventured back into the living room, observing the spaces he knew were the common places for the feline to rest, before a loud mewl distorted the quiet in the apartment. @ingridnystrom
That damn cat getting used to her eventually was the hope. She knew there was no way that she would be able to get rid of him. She wasn't even sure if she would be able to get rid of anything in this damn apartment. She had thought about getting a new place where she could decorate it to her liking. Somewhere that didn't have 90s Troll dolls as decorations or food themed light fixtures. And yet, she couldn't begin to think about moving or packing any of this up. If she did, it'd be more real. And sometimes she just liked to believe that maybe, just maybe, Annika would open up that door. She snapped out of it as Sam called out for the cat and shook the cat treat bag. It took a moment, but finally the cat responded and came out from a spot behind the couch. "Well that's a hiding spot." She said and took a deep breath. @samxbradford
"Okay, yeah, then I'd be happy to help out." She knew what it was like to need a distraction. Death wasn't easy to process. The loss of a best friend was devastating in its own way, let alone a twin. Nodding her head, she gave Ingrid a faint smile. "I get that." Kennedy didn't see herself leaving any time soon. "I will be here, if you need anything at all." She offered her a softer smile this time, "Just know that." @ingridnystrom
She smiled at her and nodded. "Perfect. I'll contact you with the details." Ingrid told her. She wasn't sure when she'd get to it, but it definitely was going to be a welcomed distraction. Swallowing, she nodded and took a breath. "Thank you. I appreciate that." It was something a lot of people were saying and while she did appreciate it, she also knew she wouldn't call any of them up. @kennedyxhawkins

To linger would further the damage that her image carved into his chest. It was a gaping void that opened up, swallowing everything he was whole for a moment and he had to remember what it meant to be. Ingrid was not Annika and it were it not for the way her features mirrored those of her late twin, it would be hard to imagine they were related at all. Sam swallowed, nodding for he had run out of words. All syllables he could have uttered had been deprived of their meaning and they were just dead weight. Useless. And then Ingrid voiced the question that made him freeze. Slowly, he hoisted his worn gaze, tired and exhausted by nights that had fallen too short for too long now. Sam pushed himself further than he should have, all to catch a glimpse of her eyes and it was easy to imagine they were Annika's. Annika, who had treated that damned cat like royalty and Sam felt himself nodding. Saying 'no' had never been an option, even if it had crossed his mind for a split second. He knew this was a bad idea, that this would tear the wound open wider but he was too exhausted to care. His voice was dangerously quiet in this blank space of a hallway that began to make him feel claustrophobic. The familiarity. The heavy memories it caused to surface. He hasn't been eating much, she said. He's not the only one, Sam thought and again, he nodded. "Okay. I'll try." And it sounded like a promise. @ingridnystrom
She took a deep breath and was relieved that Sam would come over. If anything were to happen to that cat, she didn't now what she'd do. She just wanted Rick Grimes to eat. "Thank you." Ingrid said softly and led the way to the apartment. Even from outside, the smell of Annika was there. So when she opened the door, it was like a wave. She had gotten slightly used to it, but it still caught her off guard. That smell of strawberry shampoo and caramel body mist. "He's around here somewhere." She said and looked for the cat. "He's been hiding. And hissing at me." She swore the cat watched her carefully like she was something that just wore his mom's face, but was different in everything else. "I don't now what to do." @samxbradford
Had he been in any other situation, he would've proceeded to hash into things, but instead he let it go, letting out a low hum as he closed his eyes, opening them once more once he felt her hand in his, his fingers closing around her small hand. "Nah.. Stay." He hadn't seen her in a long time, figured that she had lots to say, despite circumstances. When she made the comment to scratch his leg however, his eyes rolled up until they lay on her face, letting them linger for a few moments before a chuckle shuddered his chest. "Good one." He wasn't against some dark humour, and frankly he needed it in order to get through it. He wondered if it'd be enough. "Mom won't say." He started, letting his gaze turn back to the wall. "I can't even lift up the sheet to look myself." Too scared to be faced with the truth head on. "How does it look?" Yes it would be bandaged. but he didn't even know that it was above the knee, hadn't dared to ask. It just felt.. Intact. @ingridnystrom
She gave a soft squeeze to his hand for a moment. She wanted to desperately cling to him, but she didn't want to hurt him either. So she made sure she was extra careful with her brother. "Okay." She said softly, then smiled a bit when she got him to laugh. Her face fell, though, and her eyes widened as he asked about his leg. She hadn't looked and she was nervous to. But it was the least she could do for him. She stood and moved the blanket. "It looks weird." She told him, her heart falling as she looked at it. Tears lined her eyes and she forced them down. "Sorry." She put the blanket back down and turned to wipe her cheeks. Seeing her brother's injury just made everything so much real and it broke her more than she wanted to show. She wanted to be strong for him. For everyone. @erikxnystrom
"Just a few days." She answered Ingrid, knowing that in all instances, she should be grateful. She was alive. She didn't have to stay in the hospital long. "Thank you." Her voice was quiet as she took the cup from Ingrid and brought it to her lips. As she sipped, she listened to Ingrid, fighting back the urge to act surprised by the other's statement. "Right, yeah, that makes sense." She held the cup between her hands, needing it to ground her to the moment. "I'm sure they will appreciate the help. @ingridnystrom

Talking about something lighter, something that didn't require much thought felt like the right direction for the conversation. She couldn't imagine the heaviness that weighed on Ingrid's shoulders, on her heart. "It was a super cute story." Her smile softened and at Ingrid's question, she felt her brows raise. "Wait, really? You'd want to interview me of all people?" There was no judgement in her tone, only surprise at the offer. "Yeah, of course, I mean, I'd be happy to help out." She smiled at Ingrid, "Does that mean you're sticking around Kismet for a while?" @ingridnystrom
Ingrid nodded and shrugged. "Yeah. It'd be interesting to hear more of the story and your time there. And gives me something to do while I'm here." It was honestly a great plan and she liked having something to do. She always hated that stuck feeling so doing something like this should help. She hoped. "I am. I can't leave after everything." She said, hoping Kennedy would understand without asking. "So I'll be here indefinitely." @kennedyxhawkins
