“Yes, I’m Law. Trafalgar would also be acceptable, I guess, if you’d prefer,” he said simply.
“Then it’s good to meet you, Morrigan-ya~♪. My last roommate didn’t last very long ... maybe we can be friends.”

A burglar ... it was a fair enough statement, but it was the first time he’d been called that. “No, I live here. I guess you’re my replacement roommate.”
This has been on my mind for long but I’m gonna do this - please reblog this if you’re comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean “met at the grocery store two weeks ago” or “have a common friend”, but rather stuff like “have been best friends since kindergrden”, “go for a beer every friday”, “friends with benefits”, “dated in highschool”, “hate each other’s guts because -insert reason-” etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction
"Shishishi, happy birthday, Torao!" Luffy's grin took up more than half his face and somehow seemed to be trying to grow even wider. "I have a present for you! Look!" And with a flourish that probably was less graceful than intended, Luffy placed a blue cape over the other's shoulders. "See? You look really cool!"
... Of course, Mugiwara would be the one to celebrate in his crew’s absence.
Though his expression betrayed him, Law was grateful for the gesture. He still felt a bit like a stranger in this place, since he had yet to make any sort of connections with anyone, but a familiar face was at least semi-welcoming.
His grimace turned itself into a half-grin, one different from his usual smug smile and he bent his knees the slightest bit, allowing the cape to be placed over his shoulders. He’d play along this time.
“Thank you, Mugiwara-ya. My wardrobe has been lacking lately ... this’ll help.”
Idly, Law sat in his apartment and watched the calendar like it was going to change if he stared at it hard enough. The day always seemed to creep up on him, regardless of how time passed.
His birthday.
Birthdays had never been too terribly important to him, but it was a little lonely without anyone loudly celebrating around him. His crew was always good for that.
"No reason I can't celebrate by myself, right?"

Illya paused in her chores, turning to look at the other. “Who are you?” Was her first words to the male. She can only blink her eyes and stare, holding tightly onto the basket as her eyes gawked. Seconds passed by and soon, a minute passed. Not an answer.
Her eyes skipped down to look at the cute little plushie. A smile appeared on her as she stretched her arms out to take it with both hands. “Ah- Thank you very much.” She bows and hugs the plush tightly to her. It was really cute, and since she was fond of stuffed animals and anything cute like this, she fell in love with it in an instant.
She asked him again, but this time, in a more respectful and welcoming manner. “What’s your name? Mine’s Illyasviel Von Einzbern. Illya works just fine.”
Law was unprepared to answer the question, since she had presented it so quickly. Just as quickly, however, she seemed to switch gears and she hugged the plush close to herself and he almost sighed, glad to have gotten the thing out of his apartment. He was tired of looking at it.
If he never saw another flamingo again, it would be too soon.
“Sure,” he said with a nod, more than happy to have rehomed the toy. There was silence and he thought that maybe he should get up and leave, since it looked like he had interrupted some chores or something like that, but she asked who he was again. Law figured he could answer this time.
“That’s ... a big name for someone so small,” he said, though he wasn’t sure why. “Trafalgar Law. I don’t really have nicknames.” A lie, but he often didn’t want to admit to any of the nicknames Strawhat had given him.
Oz felt slightly offended, and was about to tell off the man before he realized that it might’ve been a simple mistake. Though he did scoff, something he did before he realized it. 「I’m 15 years old!」he exclaimed, feeling his face flush with embarrassment when he realized too late his voice cracked. Oz cleared his throat, and put his hand on his hip.
「I’m 15 years old, I can go where I please.」Oz stated. He had been told by his partner that the age expectations were differently around here, and well, Oz didn’t like being treated like a child regardless of his age. No one from his time had, so why should they now? 「What about you? 」
Offense wasn’t the reaction he had been expecting, but in a way he was pleased by it. Law smirked the slightest bit at the exclamation, and at the embarrassment that followed it. Since his arrival he had felt a bit off-kilter but this made him think that perhaps his usual confidence was coming back.
“Ah,” he said, his expression calm. “Fifteen isn’t that bad.”
It seemed peaceful enough here so maybe younger participants were okay to move about freely. He guessed it wasn’t really his business in the first place, though he didn’t usually pay that sort of thing much mind. “I’m twenty-six.”
Saying it out loud made him feel a little odd, randomly conversing with someone more than ten years his junior. Maybe it would be best to drop the age topic.
“Do you have a name?”
“Bothering…? Oh-hohoho! No-no! I just thought it was bizarre to see a cat act in such a manner… Boggles the mind a little…”
“Still… you’ve seen stranger things?” That was a little disappointing to hear, but it left Mamizou rather inquisitive. No harm in asking the good doctor. “Prithee, may you enlighten this woman?” Taking a moment to inhale from her pipe, she sighed blissfully as she watched the smoke rise and vanish. “Just one moment of your time will do, mister. But if you have other plans, I won’t impose.”
The aptly disguised canine darted off once Mamizou’s eyes were pried way from it, taking chase after someone, it’s owner perhaps? Imagine the poor souls surprise from being pounced on and knocked onto the ground by their elated pet. “What the HELL?! Weird cat… Get offa me! AGH, you’re so heavy!”
“…Ah! Where are my manners? Mamizou is what I go by. How do you do?” She asked, matter-of-factly, paying no mind to the poor person and their cat/dog.
She was right, a cat behaving this way was strange, but by this point it took more than that to have Law scratching his head. He hadn’t intended on elaborating but his statement seemed to get this woman’s attention--since he had nowhere to be, he nodded.
“No, it’s no trouble.” This woman seemed a bit strange, but again, strange was nothing unfamiliar to him. He didn’t know where the people here came from.
Law took a moment, recalling the different types of fauna he had encountered in his travels. He had been to a lot of islands, and he had seen a lot of things, but he wasn’t sure which ranked the highest in terms of strangeness.
“Well ... back home, I’ve got a crew waiting for me, one of which is a polar bear that can talk like a human.” Bepo was moderately tame, he thought. Aside from the talking, he was a normal bear. “I’ve also come across giant, carnivorous rabbits, and unusually vicious alligators with banana-shaped growths on their heads, they’re usually about the size of a small boat.”
To drive his point further, he pulled out the cell phone he had been given upon arrival. “We also don’t use these where I’m from. We have snails that function as communication lines.” It was odd when he explained it.
Mamizou ... he nodded, debating offering a handshake or something similar but deciding against it. “Law is fine,” he said simply. “Do you live in this area, Mami-ya?”
It wasn’t everyday that someone willingly approached her without a healthy amount of fear and intimidation, so it was easy to decipher a newcomer from a veteran of the city — that is, if the confusion written upon their faces didn’t give it away first. She had quite the reputation, after all. Hell, everyone thought she was the literal incarnation of SATAN. She’d like to see someone top that ( Luffy had made quite the impression too, as her PARTNER IN SIN ). So, it was inevitable that they avoided her. It was rare that anyone even look at her for too long, which, for her purposes, was fine. She quite liked watching them squirm.
Bugs often feared being CRUSHED.
Giving the man a passing look, she rudely snatched the pamphlet from his grip and glanced it over. She’d never heard of anything like it, sure, but Koi was full of bullshit, so who could ever really know? Not that it mattered, actually. Who needed a voucher to get what they wanted?
SIMPLETONS, obviously.
❝ Honestly? I have no fuckin’ clue, but does it really matter? If you want a — what is it? A polar bear? Okay, sure. If you want one, why not just TAKE one? Sounds exciting to me. If it’ll make you feel better though then, sure, it’s legit. ❞
Very DOUBTFUL, but being the kind soul that she was, she made an effort to ease his troubled soul ( while advocating THEFT of all things ).
Maybe she was right; maybe Law just didn’t know the way things worked around here yet, and naturally didn’t know any sort of pecking order. Maybe he also didn’t care--things like that didn’t mean much to him back home, so why would they here? He didn’t know how long he would be there, nor did he see any reason to be wary or fearful of anyone. Thus far everyone seemed to be the type to leave others alone unless provoked.
Though, of course, that wasn’t to say he wouldn’t be provoking anyone eventually. It was in his nature.
For now, however, Law wanted to keep a low profile (though if he kept in touch with Luffy while they were both there it was bound to be impossible) until he got his bearings. So he would be quiet, and watch his tongue even when he felt like speaking out of turn like he was wont to do.
This girl’s disposition caught him off guard and he grimaced without meaning to, though he didn’t bother trying to get the voucher back when she snatched it from him, and he instead shrugged. “I more meant if it had any sort of resale value. Bepo wouldn’t be too pleased if he found out that I got a new bear,” he said, as though she was supposed to know who Bepo was.
At the mention of Bepo, he thought about his crew and hoped desperately that his submarine wasn’t at the bottom of the sea.
“If I wanted a bear that badly, though, you’re right--I would just take it,” he mused, his eyebrows raising slightly beneath the brim of his cap. “Pirates don’t usually ask permission.” There was a pause, and Law considered letting the conversation drop there. But he didn’t. “This place is odd.”
( i mentioned it in my notes page but i figured i should mention it in the open as well but!!! i work mon-fri from 8-4:30 est so ',:) i mostly lurk during those times and i should be much more active on weekends !!!! )

After everything, the promise of his crew was a welcome one. Mugiwara and his band of merry misfits had been accommodating but they also tended to be overwhelming at times; that, in combination with what he had gone through in Dressrosa as a whole, tuckered Law out considerably.
He was grateful for all they had done for him but it was time to go home.
The submarine was anchored separately from the Sunny, a short ways away from the closest port town and if he hadn’t known what he was looking for, Law might have missed it. The vessel sat a bit lower than others, naturally, but when he saw the sleek yellow of the sub he sighed in relief. Would his crew be there, or would they be at the town? He didn’t know for sure and he wouldn’t until he boarded--half of him hoped it would be empty so he could recharge before they jumped all over him (which they surely would), while the other half hoped they would be there to greet him.
When he opened the hatch, Law was met with nothing more than the squeak of the hinges. The corridors were mostly empty as far as he could see, and nothing echoed back at him save for his own footsteps, so everyone was either busy, really busy, or not there.
He made a beeline of sorts for his operating room, looking for a familiar place. It was empty, as expected, and he stood at one of the counters as he idly fiddled with the tools that were strewn about. “Nobody, huh ... not even Bepo to welcome me back.” Despite the words, there was no inflection of anger or disappointment in his voice--there was, however, a satisfied smirk on his face.

.... why were there so many children here? Why were they all unattended?
This girl was even younger than the last one he saw--to be fair, the boy had been a teenager at the very least. Law would place this girl’s age around ten or eleven. He could see her from his seat outside of his apartments, where he had yet another coffee sitting in front of him.
They hadn’t been lying when they said this area had good coffee.
Thinking back to the welcome package, he made a quick trip back up to his now-empty apartment and grabbed the damn flamingo plush that had been included in it. He was tired of looking at the thing ... maybe a kid would appreciate it more.
“Oi,” he said as he jogged out to the street, where he could see her. Before saying anything else he held the toy out, to show he meant no harm. “They gave me this when I got here, but I don’t think I have any need for it. Maybe you can give it a better home than me,” he said, crouched down in front of her so he was at eye level. He always did have a soft spot for kids.

“Excuse me…” She beckoned. “I pray i’m not troubling you too much but Can you come look at this?” Her gaze directed the doctor towards a stray cat. However… it wasn’t exactly acting like how a cat would normally act. It’s tail swayed to and fro. It ran in a circle happily before standing before Mamizou. It was panting and… did it just bark? A coy smile creased her lips as the aptly disguised culprit looked back to Law. Her Tail and ears were nowhere to be seen, hidden from prying eyes.
“Can’t say I’ve seen a feline act like a canine. No sir, I have not…”

Law went where he was called, unsure why he was being called over in the first place. When he reached the woman and the creature in front of her he looked to it, then to her, then back to it again. It looked like a regular cat, but it was acting like a dog would.
“No, I haven’t, either,” he agreed, crouching down in front of it to look a bit more closely. It was unusual, sure, but the Grandline was full of odd creatures so this ... wasn’t very jarring for him.
He stood back up, looking to the woman with a calm half-smile. “I don’t know what kind of animals live here, but I’ve seen stranger. It could be normal.” This was something he could have accomplished with his abilities, but ... he hadn’t done it. “Is it bothering you?”
