Some old watercolour studies I did of Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" video back in 2016. Some I’m happy with, others are a bit rubbish. Dunno why I haven't done more. I was really quite happy with the first and last set.

Inktober #18 Adventure IV!
So it’s the final inktober day, Man what a great challenge! Although I didn’t get to sketch all the 31 days, I took a lot from this challenge. I got a lot of great sketches, I managed to keep a fairly decent rhythm, I tried out a lot of techniques I wasn’t familiar with as well as strengthen those I had a working grasp at, but most importantly I feel a lot better and proud of myself to break out of my rut.
Inktober #17 Adventure III!
Inktober #16 More adventure!
Inktober #15. I may have been listening to a lot of One Shot podcasts
Inktober #14 Midtone sketch
Inktober #13, this was a interesting experiment for me. Ina departure from how I normally work, I did not lay down any pencils and just started laying down inks with a brush pen. Not only am I not confident in laying down inks without any pencils but I am also not very confident in drawing mechanical objects. So 2 firsts for me :D
I revised my Inktober drawing from today. I wanted to Improve the lighting around the bottom of the suit as well as improve the overall lighting of the scene. The original inks just didn’t feel like moody like the original scene.
Inktober #12 Did a study of Ripley in a suit from the 1st Alien movie. Lots of Light and shadow. Feel that I needed to work on the bottom of the suit a bit more. Ah well, I’m happy with the rendering of her face.
Inktober #11 I’ve been behind lately and really wanted to try and make something that I’d feel really proud of having made. Got a bit carried away and decided I wanted to try and colour it. I think it needs it.
Inktober #10 Been a bit behind lately, just a landscape warm up today.
Inktober #9! Another piece inspired by kite-ride’s animation ‘The Race’. I like the idea that the competitions that the racers compete in grow more difficult to complete, kinda like Mario Cart courses. I took inspiration from photos of rock climbers scaling sea cliffs.
I’m slowly starting to gain confidence with inking with a nib, but crosshatching is still tricky to master with it. The ink tends to dry on the nib quickly.
You can find my other inktober drawing of the female racer here.
Inktober day 8. While listening to Brian Eno’s Apollo, I also stumbled across the Project Apollo Archive where NASA are putting up their archive from all the Apollo missions. Some of the photo’s there are just beautiful!
As I’ve uploaded this I realise that the craters to the right should be obscured more by the dark side of the moon. Ah well, next time.
Inktober day 7! Just drew something loose and psychedelic while listening to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. This was an interesting test for me, with most of the drawings I’ve done so far I had been stressing over trying to push my style forward technically rather than just relax and allow my own knowledge dictate where the pen made the lines. I miss drawing psychadelic blobs, very much inspired by the work of people like Rick Griffin, Clint Cure and Drew Brophy.
Inktober day 6. Was inspired by Spae’s glitterpunk universe, so I thought I’d have a go at trying to create a character. I think I want to have another try at this guy when I’ve got a bit more time and am not rushing around.
Inktober day 5! A quick sketch of the female racer from kite-ride’s ‘The Race’. I love that short, his work was a huge influence on me :D
The lineart is a bit wobbly with this one. I wanted to practice inking with a nib on today’s sketch. Need to steady my hand.
Spacy one for Inktober sketch #4. I wanted to try and practice dynamic lighting on the clouds. In two minds about this one, but it’s all experimentation :D
