My Hero Academia Headcanons
I decided to share some headcanons of my hero characters that I, some friends, or other fans have that I like and have decided to include in the rewrite as canon. Still getting used to using Tumblr...
He's Hawaiian-Japanese, with the Hawaiian coming from his mother's side.
Inko is disabled which is why she doesn't work and why Hisashi works overseas. The money covers almost everything they could need plus wants so they don't even think about him coming back to work in Japan anytime soon.
Hisashi sends Izuku birthday letters every year. He also likes to get merch of overseas heroes- and if he can, their autographs- to send them to Izuku.
Hisashi sends letters as little as 3 times a year and does his best to try and send one every single month. When Izuku gets into UA and moves into the dorms he makes sure to send separate letters, one for Inko and one for Izuku.
A really good artist. Since he grew up drawing the heroes on TV or he happened to glance in real life he got really good at it.
While he loves to analyze heroes' quirks, how their suits benefit them, and more he adores analyzing other things as well. His favorite thing to analyze outside of heroes is music and musicals.
To help his mother out around the house he taught himself how to cook and clean. He's a really good cook and loves trying out cuisine from different countries.
Adding on, he enjoys finding restaurants with cuisine from different areas and going there to try the food. Bonus points if it's run by people from that area or whose family is from there. He enjoys the authenticity.
Possibly has anxiety? I'll have to do a lot of research into it but I have always seen him as having it.
Hates having something over his mouth after the Slime Villain incident, and possibly accepts masks that don't cling to his face but panics if they do.
She's chubby, but due to skipping meals to save money, she's skinnier than she should be. After she gets into UA she starts to slowly eat more with Izuku being a huge help in that.
Due to her not eating a lot her upper limit on her quirk was lower and affected her a lot easier, especially during the Entrance Exam. Her limit goes higher and she can use her quirk more often after she starts to eat more meals.
She really likes the night sky, especially with all the stars. She's learned all the constellation names and the stories behind the names.
If she has the money to spend or the chance to get something, she always tries to get something star-themed. Her friends have noticed and begun gifting her star-themed items.
She pushes her own desires aside, especially her feelings for others. She's not as open with her feelings for others as she would like to be, but she doesn't want to burden others so she doesn't talk about them.
She considers Tsuyu the closest thing she can have to a sister. She's always wanted a sibling but knows with her parents' finances it isn't possible.
Her favorite hero is Thirteen and she's the one that inspired her to want to become a hero to help people. Of course, Gunhead shares that spot with Thirteen after her internship.
Ochako enjoys martial arts and after interning under Gunhead she starts training with Itsuka to have more experience with it.
His family is very "old school", in that he didn't have much computer or really any screen time growing up. The only channels on would be news channels at home.
Had a flip phone growing up to prevent access to the internet, in middle school he got a smartphone to help him "fit in" with his classmates.
His parents drilled into him that he should always follow the rules and call out others who didn't. While making him a great student, it made him disliked by his classmates and seem uptight.
He adores his older brother and he wants to be a hero like he was, "cool", but his parents saw Tensei as too laid back. So they raised Tenya to be more strict.
He wants to make his family proud so he often sets goals beyond what he can reach and becomes disappointed with himself when he can't reach them.
Tenya was born with red eyes but to look more like his older brother and father he wears blue contacts. He also believes he looks more approachable like that.
At first, he tries to remember it all within his brain, but after being exposed to Izuku he carries a small notepad in his pocket that he uses to write down things about his friends such as interests and favorite foods but also dislikes.
Tenya has thanatophobia, a fear of death. He never really noticed it until Tensei became paralyzed and almost died to Stain.
He knows how to play the piano and the violin due to his parents putting him in lessons for the instruments when younger. He's continued teaching himself piano but has dropped the violin.
He likes his food cold. Very few foods he eats warm, or at the temperature they should be eaten at.
Due to his father's obsession with creating a perfect quirk to rise to the top, he was hesitant to make friends so he could try to keep his father's eyes off of them.
Even though he's oblivious to terms like "killer smile" and takes them literally, he has his own terms he uses that confuses everyone else.
He's blind in his left eye due to the injury. Yes, I know healing quirks exist but he has the scar so damage done to his eye likely would stay.
Shouto isn't very close to his siblings and vice versa. Even though after Fuyumi and Natsuo moved out and they tried getting close to Shouto it was hard for them to connect.
Shouto's siblings sometimes send him things they find interesting to try and form a connection. Once Shouto works past his cold demeanor he uses what they send him to try and figure out what they like to get them things in return.
Once he starts making friends he likes to spend money on them since it isn't his but Enji's. He spoils his friends by using his father's earned money.
After Touya's "death," Enji installed concern for high winds into him. When Shouto met Inasa he brushed him off due to that concern even if he refused to use the flames.
She knows how to play a lot of different instruments due to her parents putting her in lessons. They wanted to one-up other families.
They also gave her a lot of private tutoring to make sure she was the best of the best. This included lessons on traditional practices as well.
She's trilingual, speaking Japanese, English, and Spanish fluently. She's learning Japanese Sign Language once a week with a personal tutor and learns more on her own time. She plans to know at least five languages by the time she's 20 and wants to be fluent in them all.
A relative scared her into not wearing makeup so she never wore any until she got into UA and learned the other girls wore makeup and were perfectly fine.
She loves reading romance novels and watching romantic movies. She would love to fall in love like that but she doesn't want to disappoint her parents.
After a while, she changes her dorm layout to allow her to move things around or pack things up to allow for more space so she can host study sessions, tea parties, or even a silent reading time with friends.
Her parents take her to parties that are filled with rich people. She met Tenya and Shouto once or twice at some of them, but they never got close. This did make UA more comfortable for her when she got in and saw familiar faces.
Her favorite hero is Midnight and she wanted to have a similar hero suit but a middle school friend talked her out of it (at least until she's an adult).
Consider this part one of two for 1A students in my rewrite. I love them all and this took me two days to write... not proofread at all. I spent most of that time trying to find headcanons I like and think of if I wanted to input them or not.
