↳Part 4/5
Assuming that man = aggressor, attacker, pedophile, rapist, dangerous, stupid, or similar is not only misandry, but it's also transphobic, racist, sexist, and anti feminist.
I shouldn't have to spell out why.
I wouldnt call it anti-feminist. Feminism has a loooong history of portraying women as exclusively victims and men as exclusive perpetrators. Feminism has needlessly gendered issues like rape and abuse.
I know I used these in a recent post, but prominent feminists, powerful feminist organizations, etc have literally created systems and fought to change crime definitions to paint men and only men as abusers and rapists.
This clear misandry isnt anti-feminist. In fact said misandry is what drove many prpminent feminists out of feminism (some into anti-feminism). If anything, misandry like that is incredibly feminist.
I would sure like that to change. I woupd love for feminism to treat misandry like this with even half the outrage they held for banning bossy or "manspreading". But unfortunately calling out feminism when it's wrong and working for change gets you labelled a misogynist.
Just as Cassie Jaye, or Christina Hoff Sommers, or Warren Farrell, or Erin Pizzey. It did not work put for them at all.
I'm sorry but no. I'm not standing with this anti feminism bs.
Feminism [aims] to define and establish the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes.
(straight from wikipedia)
Feminism analyzes why toxic masculinity harms men and uplifts the patriarchy- it doesn't blame it on men. Feminism acknowledges that the system is what allows men to be in positions of power, but does not promote misandry because of this.
Radical feminism is not true feminism. Do the work and the research. Stop using radfems as an excuse to discount feminism altogether.
Yeah, no.
1.
The definition a group gives themselves means nothing. We judge groups by the actions of their members.
2. Feminism has a looooong history of opposing equality when women dont benefit, gendering gender neutral issues, and blaming things on men.
A good example is "toxic masculinity" and "patriarchy". As shown above, women are half of society and have the power and influence to change it for the better AND the worse. Quite literally the SAME feminists who were protesting to close down male abuse shelters and keep the law from recognizing male rape victims blamed "patriarchy" for the government caving to their demands. As in even when "the patriarchy" listens to women, to feminists, and does exactly what they say, any bad that comes from those decisions is treated as the fault of men.
3. "Equality to men" means listening to men. It means actually understanding issues men face *before* comparing said issues to when it happens to women. Sooooo many "women's issues" are gender neutral or affect men more, but feminism tends to insist it's only really a problem for women and we should focus on women. To the point that merely including men is seen as misogyny. As silencing women.
That's not gender equality. But that's feminism.
4. Feminism, "real feminism" was originally for straight white "god fearing" (christian) women. Clearly you believe that feminism has chabged for the better since then based on the actions of ots members. Well anything that can change for the better can also change for the worse. And I have shown that it (feminism) has.
5. You claim feminism and misandry have nothing to do with each other but, while not all feminists are misandrists, you'll have a hell of a time finding a proud misandrist who isnt also a feminist.
Right now, go look through Tumblr's misandry tag. Almost every man-hating post comes from a feminist blog.
Misandry is so mainstream in feminism, literal celebrities like America Ferrera and Amy Poelher can literally make episodes in their shows promoting feminism and mocking the idea of misandry and get almost exclusively cheers for it. Feminists can literally bully celebrities for apologizing for even suggesting men can experience sexism and that gets a pass.
6. Feminism doesnt have monopoly over equality. You are not entitled to people's support just because you *claim* to do good things. If your actions dont match up, especially over the decades, people get to judge them (you) for it. Before you join *any* group, it's your job tp research them and figure out if you want to be associated with them. Because once you start waving their banner, you become partially responsible for the actions of that group.
In the same way it's not unfair to call christians or muslims homophobic for the actions of their members, in the same way christians who protest and close gay conversion camps are fixing some of the bad in christianity, these equally apply to feminism. They can take criticism and work to fix theor groups. Can you?
You cant just pick and choose which actions you take credit for. You cant just ignore the bad in your movement while it festers and becomes the norm.
If you want everyone else to see feminism the way you do, you need to work to fix the bad, not excuse/ignore it.
And also yes, radical feminists and Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists ARE feminists. It's literally in the name. In the definitions they give themselves, if you will.
EDIT: Lol and yes, I have done my research. I have referenced feminist literature, I have saved quotes, videos, and audio from powerful feminists both past and present, I have detailed info on feminist organizations and the damage they have done to the pursuit of gender equality, and I have literally hundreds of examples saved on this blog alone of feminists being just incredibly awful human beings, with almost ALL people calling them out not identifying as feminists (despite feminists being responsible for them).
I've done my research. Have you?
I'm referring to feminism as it is defined, not as people choose to misuse it.
You can't just pick and choose which offshoots of feminism you don't like and present that as the be all end all. You are no better than the radical feminists who choose the examples of dangerous men and decide that is what a man is. The same example with religion: Christianity has been warped and perverted and used harmfully, but that doesn't change the fact that true Christianity and the Bible's teachings are about loving thy neighbour and being a decent person (no, I'm not religious).
I'm using the definition of feminist to rightfully define misandry as anti feminist. The only thing that matters to me is the definition, and not how people have decided to take advantage and spin it in for their own gain.
Feminism is defined that way because they gave themselves that definition. It quite literally used to state that it was for women's rights not too long ago, but feminism rebranded itself as for men too
I actually never stated that feminism had no good people or good points. Nowhere here did I pick and choose which parts of feminism deserved recognition. That was you, remember?
I merely stated that because of people like you, the bad in feminism has becoke normalized. The fact that so many famous and influential feminists and feminist organizations have literally created and perpetuated systemic/systematic inequalities against men without being fixed by feminists means that either the "good" feminists are too few or too powerless to oppose them. Neither is a good sign.
Unlike the earlier example of Christians protesting gay conversion camps (instead of just saying they arent real christians and letting the camps go), you and arguably a majority of feminists ignore the bad in feminism and let it get worse. Your silence in the sexism they spread allows them to get worse and worse.
You literally defined christianity as a guideline to being a decent person. Well who makes the rules on what determines if someone is decent? Lots of christians are taught being anti-gay makes you decent. Theyre still christians. Just like many feminists believe being anti-male makes you anti-sexism. Theyre still feminists.
Again, feminism was originally by and for straight white chrstian women. I can argue that is "real feminism". If you agree that feminism has changed for the better (become more inclusive) based on the actions of its members (and is no longer so restrictive), you must also concede that feminism has the capacity to change for the worse. I am merely arguing that it has already. And that it is your responsibility as a feminist to help change the actions of the members in your group. Which is an entirely fair thing to ask.
Your entire argument is based on the No True Scotsman Fallacy, and that wont work here.
It's kind of odd that i'm doing more to change feminism for the better than actual feminists.

The long awaited Fandom Etiquette comic. It will also be in my pinned post for newcomers.
A lot of people who are new to social media and fandom scene weren’t really taught how to properly act and in our age of cancel culture/rage baiting and the rise of the AI, people lost all sense of respect for one another. So i’m here to share some basic fandom and internet etiquette i have learned over the many years i’ve been here :)
I’ll really appreciate if you could reblog this for other people!!! And add some of your wisdom, if you want to and have something that you think is worth sharing!

Since everyone is getting hung up over this in the notes, I guess I will clarify what a Disney Princess is.
A Disney Princess is a main female character from a Disney-owned animated theatrical film, who is typically human, and is either royal by birth or marriage, or is a hero, or a major supporting character of the protagonist.
The character must be the protagonist or a main supporting character from a Disney animated feature film or a Pixar film, not from a sequel or television series.
This is a marketing franchise by Disney, not a natural grouping, requiring characters to be recognizable, from a successful film that wasn't a flop.
Disney Princess does not mean just literal royalty.
So...
A disney princess?
Yes, so is Nani.
Then by that logic...
