Akumu no Sumu Ie

There’s one thing that bothers me. And that is:

Naru calls Mai ‘Taniyama-san’.

For some reason,this upsets me greatly. ;_;

((If you care for my thoughts? I think the whole confession from Mai was what did it. The only reason Naru called Mai by her first name and with no honorific, was because she was using his nickname. (Which at the time she didn’t know it was his actual nickname ‘Noll’ just with a thick Japanese accent) He even says it in the first Manga when Mai gets mad about him using her first name he says “But you called me by mine.”

It was all just a cultural difference mistake that Naru makes (which ends up biting him in the ass later when Monk, Yasuhara, and John figure out his identity in book 12) Later on, even after he realized his mistake he would only call Mai, ‘Taniyama-san’ when he was introducing her, and when he was mad at her (I think.)

But in the sequel he has completely distanced himself from her and she did the same to him. Any kind of closeness they had was gone. My theory was that Mai was of course embarrassed by her mistake of thinking Naru was Gene and confessing, then realizing her love was dead and Naru (of course this is a theory) kind of got his heart broken. I think he really loved Mai (not that he would ever admit it to himself or anyone else) and all the cute things Mai did, all the blushes and stuttering…and yelling his name when she was in trouble…were supposed to be for Gene.

Seriously Mai, ouch.

So now their relationship is strictly professional. Or well, kind of more friendly professional. So, yeah…that’s why the sudden name change in my opinion.))

John likes to read novels on his spare time and occasionally make up his own story ideas.

"Well it's certainly a welcome distraction!"

Cute Headcannon: John can play an instrument (Pick one) and enjoys playing for the little kids at his parish. =)

"Hmmm... I suppose I could muster up some of my old piano skills from grade school..."

Or that fiddle Johnny boy here won from the devil, which allowed him to achieve priest hood that moment he was visiting Georgia. I'm sorry had to make the joke.
