Do you know what I find odd? In all of the anti-Yulin and anti-dog meat petitions, not a single one of them calls for the more ‘humane’ slaughter of dogs, ‘organic’ dog meat or ‘free range certified’ dog meat. There’s no big campaigns from celebrities calling for better treatment of ‘meat’ dogs. It’s always a call to completely abolish the dog meat industry and put a stop to eating dogs and the Yulin festival forever, not a call for giving dogs bigger cages or better food etc. Most people would bite your head off if you suggested ‘humane dog slaughter’ or ‘happy dog slaughterhouses’.
But yet campaigning for ‘happy beef’, ‘humane pork’ and ‘free range chickens’ goes completely unquestioned, and those who call for an abolition to the industries that kill these animals are pretty much shat all over.

But here’s a little secret for you: no one is ever the same thing again after anything. You are never the same twice, and much of your unhappiness comes from trying to pretend that you are. Accept that you are different each day, and do so joyfully, recognizing it for the gift it is. Work within the desires and goals of the person you are currently, until you aren’t that person anymore, and everything changes once again.

someday someone is gonna be so soft and gentle with your heart, you’re gonna be so glad you kept it open, you’re gonna wonder why you ever thought about quieting it down
i really hope so

Health progress for 6/13:
- Physical: No yoga practice :( , hiking 30min steep uphill, 10hrs sleep. Consumed eggs and dairy 1 meal (very difficult to maintain veganism fully at home). - Mental: No meditation :( , no medication (see psych on 16th about this), social interactions notably positive - Other: Experienced gratitude for scenery, very intense dreams last night involving otherworldly beings/servitude, some restlessness tonight
I’m thinking about him tonight, which is funny. The way my wandering thoughts will repeatedly return to a person. Someone I barely know, who I’m already convinced is right for me. Exercise: don’t pine for him to reach out to you, reach out to others in that interim of social appropriateness.
I really want to learn to play the ukulele; it’s small, and I could take it to open mics. I could work on some originals that I would sing myself, or covers in my range, or Alyssa could sing and I could play keyboard. A melodica would be nice, too. I’m just excited about the concept of taking time to create; create music, plant food, foster goodness and love, create space for wellness in my own heart.
