Just reached out to a Tattoo artist for a Xena tat... really hope theyre interested! they do a lot of warrior women/battle pinup tattoos so i think this would be up her alley.. wish me luck!!

I really like the tasteful changes to Xenas outfit, for the sake of the tattoos clarity/longevity. and i think she nailed a pretty good season 1 vibe, especially with all that brown!

even some of the other artists and clients at the studio had commented on it! the shop had a really nice sense of camaraderie in the air.

There are layers to this. Earlier in the episode, Xena discovers her secret while they're sharing a locker room. A woman she has got naked with turned out to be trans. It's the exact scenario terfs are always fear-mongering about, but Xena just shrugs it off.

Also, the kiss was a big deal not just because it was gay but because the trans actress was HIV positive. They wanted to show the world that you can't contract HIV just from kissing someone. Bear in mind, the AIDS crisis was still fresh on people's minds in the 90s.
