Nat nervously laughed at the first part, totally hit the nail on the head with that accusation. But they quickly lit up at the acceptance of the idea, she was quick to hide her excitement as to not foil her stealthy plot. "Mmm yes, Hypothetically of course. I would certainly never leave a defenseless kitten alone with Assan. Not without teaching him the friend not food... equation." That was entirely not even close to the word they meant but it sounded on the level with hypothetical.
Nat nodded sagely before adding. "Manfred though, now that's a skeleton you can trust to protect such a soft creature- Hypothetically I mean. I wouldn't have brought a Kitten into the Lighthouse and immediately given them to Manfred, no no, not without talking it over with people." she said, totally not believably.
It was all she could do to not start laughing. "You gave Manfred a kitten, didn't you!" Fail. She started giggling, imagining it. Was he confused? What would a kitten think about a skeleton? The poor thing wouldn't be scared would it? Nat wasn't wrong though. Manfred could probably be trusted with a kitten.
"Be careful, or he might start thinking every animal is a pet to bring home," Lace teased, unable to help herself. Emmrich would be so flustered at the chaos it would inevitably bring. "Poor Emmrich wouldn't be able to say no either- not to Manfred."
Now she was just giving Nat ideas, wasn't she?

Help.
How long had it been since she honestly asked for it? Sun honestly couldn't remember the last time she chose to ask anyone for help.
Asking for help meant accepting weakness. Meant putting other people in danger which she could not stomach the idea of. She had grown used to being the strong one. The one that others asked for help from. She never asked for help.
Call it being protective of the other people around her. Call it her pride that would not let her admit such weakness in a moment of need. Either way, Sun never asked for it.
"Harder than you would think, Harding." If only she knew.
Lace reached out, resting a hand on Sun's arm. "Just because it's hard, doesn't mean it's not worth doing. Or impossible." Perhaps she was speaking from a different position than Sun. For Lace, when something was hard it just made her all the more determined. Maybe Sun wasn't like that.
She gave her arm a gentle squeeze. "We're friends," she said softly, green eyes looking up at her. "Helping each other is what friends do."

Though they had disrupted his ritual, and inadvertently freed the remaining Evanuris, Solas knew he could not defeat Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain alone. The enemy of my enemy, as they say... ~
~ The Lighthouse once again served as his base of operations, and naturally, he had offered the others sanctuary there. He knew that Rook and Neve disdained him, and that their allyship was opportunistic only. It was no matter -- he cared little for their opinions. But for some reason, Scout Harding's scorn brought a certain amount of shame upon him. They hadn't exactly been close in the days of the Inquisition, but Solas had spent enough time with her in the field that they had certainly been friendly acquaintances. Perhaps it was because he knew he was deserving of her hatred; whether it was for Varric's death, or for hurting Inquisitor Lavellan, or betraying the Inquisition, or the countless other wrongs he had committed. He was too tired to deal with her beratements -- no matter how much he deserved them. ~
~ And so, he had tried his best to avoid Harding, always managing to slip away after meetings before she could corner him. But as large as the Lighthouse was, he could only avoid her for long. There is a knock at the door to his study, and as Harding enters, he prevents a sigh from leaving his lips. ~
~ " Scout Harding, " he greets in an impassive tone, folding his hands upon his desk. " ...How may I assist you? " ~
Anger. Hurt. Disappointment, in a way. Regardless of the specific feeling, it all sucked. It sucked when they realized they'd have to stop Solas one way or another- a former friend, ally, and to some a confidante and even lover- and it sure sucked now. Once more they were on the same side. Same goals. But were they really?
Lace trusted him even less than she could throw him.
Eventually the anger and disappointment gave way to just... hurt. And it was then that Scout Harding realized she couldn't avoid him forever. After all, she deserved some answers, didn't she? They all did, but especially her and Varric, may he rest in peace.
Thus, she found herself at Solas' door, and it seemed he had a similar mentality of not wanting to have this discussion. But it was needed.
"I- we've been so busy lately. I just..." Chicken! She silently scolded herself, as she considered apologizing for the intrusion and turning and leaving. Lace sighed, finally forcing herself to look him in the eye. "Why?" The hurt was written on her face, and thinking of Varric, she could feel tears well in her eyes again.
"Why?" She said again, softer this time. "We were friends... Weren't we?"

"Don’t look back." [Nat, Veilguard, bonus points if there is no danger and they're just chillin]
"Oo are we playing a guessing game?" Lace bounced a little on the balls of her feet. Damnit, now she wanted to look behind her. "Is it..." She cocked her head, listening intently, trying to figure out what- or who- it could be. Not Manfred or Assan, they were very distinct and not stealthy at all. Not Neve, her prosthetic would have given her away as well. Emmrich, Davrin, and Taash she could usually tell by the footsteps. Bellara jingled oh so slightly from her earrings. That just left Lucanis, but she didn't get the sense it was a person Nat was referring to.
"Did the Caretaker show up?" She asked, before leaning in conspiratorially, a grin on her face. "Or did a secret portal to somewhere else in the Crossroads just open behind me?"
"don't worry, i make a great pillow." [Filarick, DAI, Double Bonus points if this is in a fully professional setting, like the clinic]
"Is that why there's none on the bed?" Lace asked, looking around. Or maybe there was another reason, though what that could be she didn't know. Then again, she tended to avoid the clinic as much as possible. If you were there, you weren't in the field, and you were probably sick or injured. And Scout Harding much preferred not being sick or injured thank you.
Except for this one time she was.
She'd taken a hit in the field, an assassin getting the drop on her resulting in a nasty gash on her shoulder. She poked at the poultice smeared on it as she awaited the bandage and winced. It smelled funny, but she trusted Filarick to put her back to right again.

Everything was a lot. Treviso. Minrathous. Solas. Losing Varric. This newfound magic she had. She'd been trying to keep it inside, focus on the good things. Her new friends, the small wins they had managed, the life that was blossoming- quite literally- in her greenhouse. Even still, things threatened to overwhelm her, and really, who could blame her?
Thus, she'd found herself pouring it all out to Nat as they sat among the soil and plants. Lace hadn't realized how badly she needed that. And their comment reminded her of something a dear old friend would have said.
"Thanks Nat," she said, looking up at her with an appreciative smile before wrapping her arms around the other for a big hug. She needed it. Maker knows she needed it.

Weaponry of choice:
Hi, I haven't posted anything here in a hot minute but I'm apparently fixating on what weapons my muses would primarily use by default, and Lace is no exception.
Anyways, we all know Lace is an archer, who's been skilled at tracking and hunting since she was young. By default, I see her using Old Reliable (one of her bows she's able to have in DAV). It's sturdy. It's reliable. It's low maintenance. All of which make it great to take with you when you're trekking across Thedas, chasing elven gods.
Scout Lace Harding was NOT murdering people left and right with a satisfied smirk on her face in her first scene ever and learning both how to fight and making herself as helpful and resourceful as possible because she was a little dwarven girl growing up around human boys and very possibly tracking down and killing a lyrium-addicted Cullen in the streets (and thinking of it as a merciful act) AND carrying one of the strongest parts of veilguard on her back with her arc being all about her rage and how she wants to grapple with it for you all to relegate her to the safe and dull nice girl love interest 🫵 START PONDERING
