That's why I find it so hard to trust Christians unless I can find out their stance on America. And I can't trust even the 'good' Americans because they obviously support Trump and the military's actions. They live in America and he's the president so obviously they voted for him, if they don't like him then they should show that by leaving. Honestly staying in America just shows me that they're a secret Trump supporter even if they try to lie and say they aren't. Look at my art piece! It's a church burning. Well, obviously it's an American church so it should burn. Look at my patch I put on my battle vest, it's a big X over a cross. No, it's not talking about Christians! It's about America because America uses a lot of cross imagery. Well it's not my fault America co-opted the cross so now I just associate crosses with America, you should recognize that not every cross is about Christianity if someone is defacing a cross you should assume it's because of America. Americans and Christians are all privileged white people anyway."
If you are responding to this post with "Well, I hate America anyways" then you are either missing the point or being willfully ignorant. It would be absolutely insane to tell a random Muslim person you can't trust them unless they denounce Iran or the Taliban, or that you can't trust a random Saudi Arabian to babysit because obviously they're indoctrinated and going to fill your kid's head with propaganda. It would be insane to tell a Buddhist you can't trust them unless they denounce Myanmar and tell them they shouldn't be offended by an art piece of a burning monastery or a slash through a dharma wheel.
I will never shy away from the word goon. goon is the only way to describe a particular type of henchman, lackey, or thug. look at these guys. they're goons.

So I did go see Obsession again last night and made sure to pay extra attention to Bear’s little opening monologue when he’s practicing his love confession to Nikki.
Bear doesn’t say a single thing about Nikki as a person in his speech. He doesn’t say that he loves her kindness and how she cares for others, he doesn’t talk about how he loves her creativity or care-free spirit, he doesn’t talk about what he likes about her.
He talks about nice things she’s done for him. He talks about what she means to him. He talks about her being there for him, and how he likes how she’s treated him.
And while I won’t pretend that those things aren’t important, they are the only things Bear mentions in his big vulnerable romantic speech.
Bear’s “confession” tells us literally nothing about Nikki other than that she’s been nice to Bear in the past.
But in a subtle way, his “love confession” tells us a LOT about Bear and his actual feelings for Nikki.
He likes that she’s been nice to him. That’s it.
He likes that she’s been nice to him, and whether it was an unconscious process or not, Bear has responded to Nikki’s being nice to him by becoming obsessed and infatuated with her.
To the point that, once he’s (albeit initially unwittingly) in a position of power over her, he completely disregards her personhood and begins to feel entitled to her and her body.
That’s another layer to Obsession that I find absolutely chilling. That so often just being nice or polite to someone won’t lead to them showing you that same kindness in return, but will instead lead them to feeling entitled to you.
I genuinely appreciate how obsession doesn't try to frame bear as morally grey but just fully leans into how deplorable he is. a lesser movie would have tried to give him redeeming moments along the way but no, at every single crossroads bear makes the wrong choice. when the customer service rep asks him if he wants to cancel his wish, he says no, and asks to alter it. when nikki, the real one, begs him to kill her, he asks her "if it would be so bad to love him", and right at the end, backs out of killing himself and tries to throw the pills up. he is the villain, not another victim, not a confused, cowardly boy, the villain.
