The campers battered and bruised, realizing that it’s over. They won.

“The sun will rise, and we will try again.”

A wave of emotion sweeping over them, happiness, anger, exhaustion, as they recognize what they’ve achieved.

“Stay alive. Stay alive for me.”

The dead campers being found, Brought back to camp. Their families being informed of what happened.

“You will die, but now your life is free.”

They live on in Elysium, free of all their previous woes and worries. They died heroes. 

“Take pride in what is sure to die”

They died fighting to protect a life that they barely got to live in hopes others would get to live just a little longer. All they can do is hope they succeeded.

Some of the poor campers suffer PTSD, and they remember the screams of their friends who did not make it, their loved ones who died for their own sake.

“I hope I’m not my only friend.”

Those same campers felt alone as they looked around their cabins and saw the empty bunks near them, never to be filled by the people they all once knew, loved, laughed with, and more.

“Stay alive. Stay alive for me.”

When they sleep, they see their faces, they hear their voices, all saying to those who lived one and only one thing; Stay alive.
