Please stop boycotting “A Dog’s Purpose”. That video of “animal abuse” was posted by TMZ. TMZ, who is just about tabloids and is known to be problematic. As a trainer, the person working with the dog was doing what he could. He stayed by her side, at her level, and spoke to her and reassuringly touched her sides. This video was ALSO made by PETA, an organization that is notoriously awful. They have stolen animals from people’s homes and euthanized them several times. They also edited the video to skip right from footage off the dog being nervous about the water right to her being IN the water, implying they just threw her in. They didn’t. She’s a German shepherd, she isn’t a water dog ad would naturally be nervous. The minute she showed any sign of struggled, they removed her and cared for her. This is a trained animal and trained workers who know how to make entertainment without hurting the doggy cast. Don’t boycott this film because of a literal tabloid.

the dog (who is named Hercules) actually was chosen for his love of water. the reason he was nervous was because he’d been rehearsing the scene entering the water from the opposite side of the pool- he only freaked out when asked to enter on the other side. the video also cut out the part where they stopped trying to get him to go where he was uncomfortable, and then let him enter on the side he was used to. here’s the producer’s response to the video

I was driving on the highway with a mind full of this n’ that and eyes full of scenery when this little familiar light came on. I must have been so immersed in thought that I forgot to fill up my car for the 200 mile journey. Instead of panicking, my immediate reaction was to smile. It took me back to when I was sixteen and lacing up my warn converse with my newly claimed drivers license in hand ready to take on the world for the first time. I remember frequently after that cruising down the road with this signal flashing accompanied by warning beeps through storms and sun. I remember sweating bullets praying that my car would take me just a few more miles until I got where I needed to be so I wouldn’t have to have my parents drive to get me and scold me on the essentials needed to drive. Luckily, it always did. I remember countless days driving up the coast line of Florida, skipping class with not a care in the world until I realized I was almost out of gas and that shrill rush of adrenaline and terror glazing my sun-kissed skin. When this signal reappeared for the first time in what seems like eons ago, it pint pointed those special moments and hurled them at me like an explosion of nostalgia. This photo oddly enough now makes me think about life. We are so driven to get to a goal that we forget the meaningful experiences that come along with it. We take one or two miles for granted but in reality, so much has happened during those few minutes. I am grateful for all the moments along the way. I am grateful to remember I still share the attributes of my younger self. I am grateful to remember that I still am a kid in the street.

I had this girl in my class and she was considered to be like really dumb. She’d ask a ton of doubts and questions in class, which everybody would consider to be “stupid"and “silly” and even the teachers would often taunt her but she’d never stop asking. But the thing was that she’d almost always top the class examinations and everyone was like???? They all thought she was cheating and stuff and obviously even the teachers were very biased because she wasn’t so ‘smart’ in class, and she was regularly accused of cheating. But nobody could prove that she was actually cheating but the whole class and teachers totally believed that she did. I’m pretty socially awkward so I never really talked to her, but she was leaving school this year and I was genuinely curious about how she was so good during exams and how she didn’t let everyone’s remarks affect her. She always used to sit and hang out with only one girl, and she told me that that friend of hers was severely socially anxious and she’d lag in studies because she couldn’t bring herself to ask doubts in class or ask for help from others. So they had this system where during lectures her friend would write down any question she had, and she would ask them for her. And I was just so touched??? Idk but it really changed the way I looked at people?? This girl endured taunts and jeers and borderline bullying for being “stupid” when she was actually really smart and could easily have refused to ask such doubts for her friend but she did?? And brushed off everything others would throw at her for her friend?? I was just, idk it just really changed me in some way.
