Mastercard and visa have reported to a couple news outlets that they are currently being swamped with calls and complaints. Keep up the pressure and try to (politely) insist that you leave a complaint via phone instead of letting the rep direct you to emails. It's way easier to be overwhelmed by a much smaller number of calls so each one counts for a bit more!

Just to clarify, there's a bill that would STOP credit card companies from controlling who's allowed to spend money on porn or "risque" (read: queer) content. If you don't think big business should be able to tell you what to spend your own damn money on, call your senators and reps to let them know! It's the Fair Access to Banking Act, H.R.987 in the House, S.410 in the Senate.

It's worth noting, though I'm sure a lot of people are already aware, that an anti-porn evangelical group are the ones responsible for the changes with Mastercard and Visa. After the Steam policy change, games journalist Ana Valens wrote about them and the same group pressured Vice to have her articles removed.

The official statement from itch also gives the organization credit for the changes. Just wanted to really emphasize the kind of people doing this and what their obvious future goals would be to encourage people to not just reblog but actively take a moment to sign the petition.

The idea that hermaphrodite = animal is INTERSEXIST. Do you know why? Because hermaphrodite means intersex person. I'm not a fucking animal. That's what the word originally meant, that's what it still means in the minds of the general public- and the fact it's been adopted into zoology is nothing but harmful to the intersex community. Now I have to explain to people every five seconds the difference between cosexual animals and intersex variations, because some zoologists a few hundred years ago compared slugs to intersex people.

I fucking hate when people say it's always been a biology term for animals. It's erasing our history. The word intersex was coined in the 1900s, what the fuck do you think we were called before that?
