Hi uh. I have been on a Chris Sabin binge, so probably a small life update.
First picture was in 2014. I was 19/20 years old at the time. This was at Lisa Marie Varon’s “The Squared Circle” restaurant. He made an appearance over there. I decided to go with my friend at the time. Unfortunately, I was the only one and I could not go to the bar at the time. So I only got this picture. I was so flipping nervous.
I still follow him on socials and I interact with him like the fan that I am. I buy his merch, he likes it. The usual fan to wrestler interaction.
Fast forward to 2022 and I found out that Impact Wrestling was going to Chicago. I didn’t know if I was going to go unless, of course, the Motor City Machine Guns were going to be on the card. And, of course, they were. So I got a ticket. Luckily I didn’t get the meet and greet because they weren’t going to be in it. So I was kinda disappointed, but I actually get to see him wrestle live (which I haven’t see him or Shelley wrestle live). And of course, I get to see him and he is still as talented live as he is on screen. Got so excited when he did his hesitation drop kick, cradle shock, and the suicide dive. Him and Kushida lost, but the match was still dope.
I went outside of the venue and I see wrestlers coming out. Now, I HATE bothering the wrestlers because man they are tired and they just want to rest. So I see Shelley come out (and I have a whole other story of why I’m hesitant with Shelley). But then my boyfriend was like “Wait Sabin is right in front of you”. When I saw him, I was FLIPPING SHOOK. I was so nervous because I did not want to be cringe like my 19 year old self. A fan asked him to take a selfie and he as like “sure!” and takes it with him. I’m pretty sure he is going to do the same thing with me. So called him out, “Chris!” He turns around and was like “Oh my god! Hey!” He then HUGS ME. He literally leaned in for the hug. I’m thinking in my head “it’s probably because of the shirt but what the hell”. He asks me how I was and I’m like “I’m good” when I’m reality I was thinking “why are you asking me that?” I ask for a picture and there is the second picture. And I said under my mask “this is crazy because I met you like 8 years ago”. This motherfucker said “Oh yeah! At Lisa’s restaurant and you were only there!” WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS SCREAMING INSIDE!!! Literally I don’t remember anything after that.
All in all, Chris Sabin is such a great guy. He has been my wrestling crush in high school and college, my all time favorite wrestler since middle school, and just a huge inspiration. If anyone tells me that Sabin is an asshole, I hope you get multiple paper cuts. I really hope everyone gets a chance to meet and talk to Sabin one day~
