i've seen a couple things about the eridians turning grace into an eridian and i have a couple concepts on how they might do this that i want to run by the class

The Eridians use sound waves and conductive stones to record and transfer Grace's consciousness into an Eridian body. kind of just Avatar but with crystals and sound. This is fun because I really enjoy Erid using grooves and sound as record keeping/computers and since human brains have electricity zapping around in there I think that plus some crystals and sound waves could make for a very fun scifi explanation for how it's feasible. they could maybe clone an Eridian body for him? maybe could also be done with a donor body or something idk that's up for the Ethics Thrum to argue about not me

Grace dies and his body is interred in the chamber where Rocky and Adrian have laid eggs. Since Eridian eggs are semi-permeable and seem to take on aspects of their surrounding mineral content based on what I've read in Andy Weir's Lore all the stuff that makes Grace, Grace could potentially be absorbed by one of the eggs and he can wake up as one of Rocky and Adrian's pebbles. (this one is a bit morbid but I like the idea of Eridians using their dead as 'fertilizer' for a new generation. something something life cycles and reverence for birth and death.)

Grace dies and they crystallize his brain and straight up put it in a robot body. Now he's an alien AND an android.

my favorite grace outfit is the white one covered in tubes that goes under his EVA suit because i have no idea what its function is but i like that grace has a space onesie at his disposal

i am here again thinking about all the factors that could seriously alter Grace's DNA and cause him to get Stranger

not only did he do multiple space walks and consume large quantities of taumoeba to stay alive, he stood in the middle of the petrova line to collect samples. yeah he had a space suit on, but i don't think that necessarily changes the fact that he's the only human in the entirety of existence to float in the middle of the petrova line and stay there admiring the beauty.

i just think grace should have weirder DNA now. i think he got whammed with enough cosmic rays that when the eridian scientists do his bloodwork and he takes a look at it he goes 'huh. that's uh. that's actually not normal.' i think he should be able to absorb energy and survive off that now i think he should turn into a human astrophage that can sustain himself with cosmic radiation

This shot from the end when Grace has tied and latched every single tether, bungee cord, and lifeline into one long red string of fate so he can bridge the distance between the Hail Mary and the Blip A to reach Rocky

Shrek 2, while a cinematic masterpiece, is also an interesting look at queerness and comp het.

Fiona is married so it's time to reunite with her parents. But instead of marrying a prince, she's married to an ogre. Not just that, but she's also an ogre. (Yes everyone knew she would sometimes be an ogre but that was when she was a child, she didn't know she would be an ogre for the rest of her life, and besides once she met the right prince she would stop being an ogre. She was supposed to stop being an ogre.)

But okay they're both ogres. We can still ask about when they'll have children because even if they're ogres they can still have kids, right? That's what married princes and princesses do so naturally that's what everyone does. Even if ogres might not be great parents (I've heard that ogres eat their young, is that something you people do?) it's still something that should be discussed.

And okay you can stay in Fiona's childhood bedroom filled with all the reminders that hey, everyone thought she was just a princess and princesses marry princes. Her toys left out from the last time she played with them. The prince slays the ogre. The princess offers a token of gratitude for slaying the ogre. Fiona wrote Mrs. Fiona Charming a million times in her diary because what else was she supposed to grow up to be?

And Harold you have to fix this, your country can't be ruled by ogres. You were unfit to rule when you were a frog but I changed you, I made you better, I made you a prince. You know how this works. Think of your daughter's safety.

Shrek goes to the Fairy Godmother and oh honey, ogres don't live happily ever after. It's just not done. It hasn't happened in all of fairy tale history. You have to change the both of you to be happy. You have to present as a prince and a princess. It will be better. You'll fit in better that way. You'll be accepted that way.
