#DigitalMarketingScript Episode 23: Can You Live Without Your Community?
#DigitalMarketingScript Episode 37: Five Things To Post
Hey everybody and welcome to #DigitalMarketingScript, I’m Carl Britton Jr and today we’re going to talk about five things you can post on Facebook to be awesome!
The things that you can be posting on Facebook make a difference! If you want people to be interested, post cool stuff! Here are five things that you can post today! People just love seeing your team, seeing you, knowing more about you. Your clients want to know!
Ask interesting questions or take a cool poll. Do you like creamy peanut butter or crunchy? Are you interested in this movie or that movie? Ask questions that are going to get people to respond to your post.
Review, highlight or suggest another business in your community! This is a wonderful way to share the love. You have followers on social media and if you like a local business, share that with them! Of course, by sharing the love, that business will feel the need to show some love back. It’s all about helping them while they help you.
Who doesn’t like inspiration or motivation? Do quote images, inspirational sayings and the such. They’re so easy to find. Just google “inspiration” and you’ll have more results then you know what to do with. Now, if you have something awesome or inspirational, quote yourself, that’s cool too!
Interesting or relevant articles from your industry. It would be great if these articles came from you, your business. You can also source these from reputable people in your industry. Make sure it’s a great article from a great website, and not some weird, creepy website. Make sure it’s from a reputable source.
Post a funny or interesting team photo or highlight a team member. People really enjoy getting to know you, getting to know your team. It is a wonderful thing to do to get engagement.
Thank you so much for joining me today on the #DigitalMarketingScript, I’m Carl Britton Jr and I want to know what you have seen to be successful on Facebook!
Networking... It's a MUST!
How many of you belong to a Chamber, morning coffee group, Rotary club, BNI, Freedom Networker, happy hour group, or some other networking/referral group? If your answer is “not me,” what are you waiting for? If your answer is “I do, but it is pointless,” you are doing wrong. If your answer is ” I do and it accounts for 35+ percent of my income,” congratulations, you are doing it right! It is a necessity for small to medium size businesses to network! Let’s look at some successful thoughts/ideas as it relates to networking to help you do it right!
First, let’s look at the purpose of networking. It’s to build strong relationships with people who you can send referrals to. Now, some of you may have just gasped in disgust; but, if you are giving real, qualified, strong referrals it will be repaid to you in multiples. All of us have an “if you scratch my back, I’ll scratch your back” mentality. It is just the way we are programmed as humans. So, why don’t you position yourself as the best initial back scratcher that ever walked the planet. Notice, I mentioned the word INITIAL. You should always try to give first. When you “scratch” someones back with a solid referral, it deepens your relationship with them.
Relationship, the most important part! You must get to know each other. It is so important not to just talk business. I always mention my beautiful wife and my 2 four legged furry kids! I want everyone to know that I am a person just like them. When you make your relationship more personal, you also build more trust. There are probably 100 or even 500 people that do or sell the same thing that you do in your area and there are even more with the Internet. The relationship that you build will put you near the top of the list to receive referrals from others.
Lastly, the thing that will put you in the number one spot, the thing that takes you from the “good guy” status to the “business partner” status, VALUE. The referrals will not be lining up at the door if you pass a referral and build a relationship and have no value. The value you provide could be a product or service, but 9 times out of 10 it is going to be you personally. What value do you provide that is better that Sally, John, Tom, or Nancy (aka your competition). The value that you provide is the key to being a successful networker!
Below is a list of things that can improve your networking!
“Scratch” – Give as many referrals as you can to those who you want referrals from!
Listen – Let them talk about their business first, ask questions. People love talking about their business so you need to learn to listen about their business!
Talk – Explain why you do what you do. Try to stay away from the what or the how, people are more interested in the why, it connects with them on an emotional level. Make sure to talk about other things, make it personal!
Follow Up & Follow Thru – Respond, call back, text back, follow on Facebook, connect on LinkedIn, Tweet, do whatever you need to do to follow up. And, Follow thru on any tasks that you agreed to do! This is an easy way to create value!
I hope that these tips will increase your success! Guess what… After you master networking in person, you need to master networking through social media! But I’ll save that information for the next post!

Personal Brand
Personal Brand… Do you have one?
Before you BRAND your business or BRAND your products, you must BRAND yourself. Most people have no idea how they would even define themselves, let alone BRAND themselves. Your personal BRAND is the most important BRAND that you will ever need to figure out. Business owners will sit around for hours, have brainstorming sessions, pay marketing companies loads of money for BRANDing a product or service; but, they will not even spend 10 minutes defining themselves, honing in their real passion, and BRANDing themselves.
What is a personal BRAND? A personal BRAND is the thing that is deep down inside your heart. How you would prefer people to talk about you when you are not around. It’s the way you want people to feel when you show up at the same place they’re at. How you want people to respond when they see your phone pop up on the caller ID. The loyalty that you have earned from people that would make others wake up in the middle of the night just to help you. Your personal BRAND is the thing that allows your passion to be visible and set you apart from the competition. What are you doing to find your personal BRAND?
If you have taken the time to find your personal BRAND… your passion for your business, products and/or services, and anything else you care about will shine through to everyone you come in contact with. If there are 10 other people in your town offering the same or similar products and services as you, a cool product BRAND will not get you noticed. But, if you have shown your value through knowing your personal BRAND, you will be light-years in front of the competition. The best part about that, if your personal BRAND includes creating value every time, you will be given the gift of repeat business and the gift of referrals!

What's More Important?
As the changing world (your customers) becomes more tight with their cash, what’s more important? Is it the ideaof sending out 20,000 postcards, having employees increase cold call efforts OR is it the idea of mico-targeting and asking existing customers for referrals. I have heard hundreds of times, out of every 10 prospects you get 1 solid sell. That holds true when cold calls and mass mailers are the ‘bread n butter’ of your marketing efforts. Why waste 90% of your money on cold calls and massive target areas.
As the changing world (your customer) becomes more tight with their cash, you must also change. Are there things in your marketing program that you feel are not right or could be better? Are you missing that “thing” that you just can’t figureout? You are not alone…
