notable changes from 2012 to the timeline they were pulled from: there are a lot of changes alright let’s get into it wanda is a mutant, though she doesn’t/didn’t know it. when she was a teen/orphan she was experimented on (not through volunteering) and it gave her some powers but mostly just brought out the powers she already had, as a mutant. however, she didn’t realize that and just assumed it was because of the experimentations. she and her brother escaped to join the avengers after realizing they were being manipulated and were strong enough to leave. she’s been with the avengers ever since and as they say it the rest is history
last memory before ending up in nyc, 2012: settling into her cabin and starting to learn more about her magic after the events in westview
questionnaire
how are you feeling? physically and mentally.
“physically, i feel okay. mentally.. i’m not sure yet. it feels as though i’ve been given a second chance. but at what cost?”
where are you living? the same place you lived in 2012, or displaced to a random apartment? explain to the best of your ability.
“the compound as i know it doesn’t exist yet, so i’m currently staying at the tower.”
what do YOU think we should do about the situation at hand? try to go back home? the original mission of stopping thanos? rewrite the entire story?
“i think we have already found that we cannot beat thanos on our own. we tried, valiantly, and we failed. maybe it would be best to rewrite the story. i could do more good, not hurt the people who have been hurt. this could be our second chance.”
what will you DO about the situation at hand?
“i don’t know yet.”
is there anything that you think needs to be done?
“first and foremost, it would be good to know how this happened and if it’s causing any harm.”
if need be, would you be willing to team up with the government and SHIELD to recoup and help the situation at hand?
“i would rather not. they have no shown that they have any desire to help me or others like me. they’re merciless i would rather work with those i can trust.”
what are your worries?
“i am most worried we can’t undo what has been done, that the reality we left behind will become our reality again, and that this reality is not permanent.”
what do you think are the pros about this situation?
“i am alive. we have a chance to right our wrongs. a lot of things have happened that don’t have to happen now.”
anything else?
“no. thank you for asking me.”

( natalie portman. she/her. cis female. thirty-four. marvel. ) would you look at wanda maximoff name roaming around the avenger’s tower! they’re supposedly scarlet witch and work with the avengers, identifying as a hero. they are around here often, so i wonder what’s got them here today. it’s been said that they’ve been acting off for six months, so maybe it has to do with the tower. lets just hope the new york times doesn’t have much to say about them in the future.
‘ that’s the one - ’ lorna confirms , small smile upon her lips . ‘ and i have to agree - christmas clothes tend to be pretty terrible looking . we look far better . ’ and she grins , shaking her head . this is the easiest time lorna’s ever had getting along with … anyone , really . ‘ so what convinced you to come to this shindig tonight ? ’
“it’s an intentional thing, the ugly clothing, isn’t it?” she asked, trying to confirm her own recollection. she could picture vision with the hideous sweater on, confused as to why he was wearing it. “we do look better,” she agreed. “well, i didn’t need much convincing. i live here. it would’ve been harder to avoid, honestly.”
“Of shorts, or at least I like to think I am. They call me Princess Python. I’ve got quite the charm over any and all snakes I meet. So I think the title of royalty is fitting.” Zelda gives the other woman a smile as she explains. “Well I guess now you know where to send your trouble, I tend to love getting into all sorts of trouble.”
wanda nearly laughed at the name ‘princess python’, but she supposed she’d heard weirder. “do people actually call you that?” she asked curiously. “can you speak with them?” truthfully, wanda couldn’t imagine wanting to get into trouble. all trouble had done for her was hurt those around her and ruin any chances she had at a normal life. “why?”
‘ fuck . i just ruined the good vibes , didn’t i ? ’ she sighs , leans up against a wall before running her fingers through dark hair . ‘ stay together , everyone stays on the same page ; have a few space robots on your side . ’ daisy shrugs , rubs a bit at her arms . ‘ make sure you’re fighting for the same thing , the same cause - always have each other’s backs . ’ as you could see , daisy’s very pro teamwork .
“i don’t know that the vibes were that good to begin with,” she admitted. though the tension she had started to hold in her body said otherwise. “how do you get space robots on your side?” she asked. wanda didn’t think their odds were looking too good, but she wasn’t ready to turn her back on the possibility that they could win this one. they had to work harder than before. they simply had to.
( @rewrittenstart ) “I hate it here.” Phoebe turns her nose up in disgust. “Avengers this, avengers that. If the avengers are as good as the media loves to portray them then shouldn’t they have prevented this entire disaster.” Arms cross easily over the woman’s chest. “It doesn’t add up… it feels like they planned on getting rid of us. We were all in one place, easy to take us all out.”
it had been a common sentiment around here lately that the avengers were terrible. wanda, admittedly, could always clearly see the damage the avengers had caused. and it was true that them being here was their fault. but she knew in her heart that this wasn’t their doing. “no one is perfect, but the avengers didn’t do this. they didn’t know it was going to happen. they got injured just like everyone else,” she insisted. “the avengers are trying to save the universe from a large scale genocide. why would they set up innocent people to be hurt?”
“i’ve only ever encountered one before this, and if they’re the same as the one the x-men had to fight.” she leaves out with the avengers, figuring they’d already know that. “it’d be catastrophic. but, i’m known for being wrong.” the mutant quips, turning towards wanda with a gentle smile. “we can ignore them if it makes you feel better.” she continues. “we deserve the break.”
just the reassurance wanda was hoping for. “don’t take this the wrong way,” she started. “but i hope you’re wrong now,” she said with a smile. aside from these beings, being in 2012 and being given a second chance actually feels alright. when she said nearly exactly what she was thinking, she frowned a little, tilting her head at her slightly. “why do you think it would make me feel better? who are you?
‘ sometimes - ’ the younger woman starts , finger tips running against the rim of her glass , careful to make sure her powers don’t interact with metal , ‘ - you have to twist the narrative to help make your story a bit more tuned to you . ’ and perhaps it’s her mental health speaking , but these past years have taught lorna to put herself and her loved ones first . ‘ upper new york - so less city , more greenery , and a lot more suburbs-like . ’ she doesn’t love it . ‘ sokovia - sounds familiar . ’
as it so happened, wanda knew about that all too well. sometimes twisting the narrative to make the story tuned to you didn’t help. “sometimes,” she said simply, giving her a smile. “that sounds nice. i’ve always wanted a garden. that feels suburbs-like,” she said honestly. she had created a life in the suburbs after all, hadn’t she? “it’s in europe. near slovakia and the czech republic,” she explained, leaving off the bits about it being in the news during the ultron problem. “it’s beautiful, really.”
“ a plan ? ” hope repeated letting out a long breath out, usually she would have a plan, she is calculist in that way but she didn’t even know why exactly she was there just yet so she hadn’t made any plans “ not really. ” the redhead nods her head “ that sounds like a good plan, i think that’s the best we can do, really. i don’t think you can go much further than that, anyway. ”
wanda had never been the best strategist. she was better at following orders. when left to her own devices, she caused more harm than good, even if not intentionally. pain inflicted was still pain even if she didn’t mean to. “i don’t think i even want to try and plan further than that. none of my plans seem to go well anyway. not that this one has, either.”
zatanna sips on her iced coffee , letting her gaze wander towards the streets of the city . “ i don’t know . it doesn’t seem all that bad , ” she muses , eyes flickering over to wanda . “ but i can’t say that i’m all caught up with what’s happened here . ”
maybe she was being intentionally ignorant, but it really felt like this was maybe a good thing. they had a chance to right all their wrongs, and they could really be prepared for the bad. “i’m sure there are untold consequences. it just seems like it has the potential to go really well.” maybe not everyone had things they wished they could undo on the level that she did.
now that everyone was safe and she’d been looked at, too, wanda had taken it upon herself to help clean up the streets where she could. she wasn’t sure what to do with all of the rubble around, but she could move it away. “oh, you shouldn’t be out here. it’s still dangerous. unstable,” she said as she saw someone ahead of her. @frxzenheart
after her little breakdown, wanda managed to make it into the tower’s medical center for her minor injuries. it wasn’t worth going to the hospital, not when other people needed the attention more. on her way in, she ran into lorna, and insisted she come with her since they’d become some sort of friends. they’d gotten all fixed up and were about to go when tony pulled her aside for a moment to talk to her. they drew some blood for lab work and came across a surprising bit of information. wanda went back out and smiled at lorna. “do you want to go get some food or something?” @wndflowers
it seemed as though plenty of the heroes had immediately gone to work to help everyone in the city. wanda flew out of the building and joined their efforts, rescuing civilians from fire, water, collapsed buildings, and anything else she could possibly do to assist them. “do you need any help, or are you able to help me?” she asked a young woman. @cvsmcs
the earthquake caused an initial panic to form in wanda’s chest. the building falling apart around her, the ground unsteady sent her to a different time. rubble fell around her, threatening to trap her, but her instinct kicked in quickly and she sent the rubble away from her and flew upward. she used her powers to stop the building from moving further, taking a deep breath as everything halted. as she got her wits about her, she heard a noise and went towards it quickly. when she neared the source of the noise, she called out, “natasha?” @falsegcds
as the madness of the earthquake died down, wanda’s adrenaline rush crashed. with everyone out of harm’s way and many sent off in ambulances or delivered to the hospital directly, she sat down on the sidewalk outside, head against the tilted tower. the chaos that surrounded her made her breathe harder, her chest feeling heavy. @wndflowers
after doing what she could to help those inside the tower, wanda took to the streets to help anyone who might need help. she had little direction, but she was determined to help. it didn’t take her long to find someone. she flew above them, lifting them out of the water with ease. “have you been hurt?” @nottivagos
‘ i think it’s pretty obvious to know what stark’s doing here - ’ she says tony’s last name , as if they’re that comfortable with each other . but he offered to let her live here , so she’d say they are on that comfy-basis . ‘ you know : running intel . but it’s nice to dress up and drink while doing it . you ? ’
she hadn’t been given an exact mission or job, whether because they didn’t trust her or because they knew she was still grieving, she wasn’t sure. but daisy made sense. “you’re right, i’m sure,” she agreed. “i do enjoy dressing up and drinking,” she added with a smile. “i assume it’s so we can all get on the same page.”
