Sorry that I haven’t been updating this blog as much. I’ve been far more active on a separate side rantblog for DID because I’ve been going through a really bad stretch. Hey just saying but trying to forcibly create new alters in a system is extremely damaging. Alters are only created when the brain cannot integrate trauma or stress/etc in any other way than splitting another part to deal with it.

So uh, sorry but this just doesn’t happen. Anyone dealing with this terrible disorder would not “bring in” multiple new alters just to “spite” people. Also, you seem to heavily misunderstand how fictives are created in the first place.

They aren’t just characters you like and want to have in your brain. The characters fictives are based on are directly correlated to the needs of the system.

fictives vs. fictionkin: stop conflating the two

ok so lately on tumblr ive seen a fuckton of ppl spreading a fuckton of misinformation about what a fictive is and about what being a system means in general, and im gonna make this as easy to understand as possible because as someone with DID im goddamn sick of it

systems can only be formed from having a complex, trauma related dissociative disorder like DID or OSDD-1

there is no such thing as “natural systems”

there are no such things as “bpd systems” or “schizophrenia systems” or “_____ systems” outside of DID and OSDD

you can share some of the same symptoms but you are not a dissociative system if you do not experience structural dissociation

fictive is the laymans term for whats called a “fictional introject”

introjects are very common in systems and this is a relatively good rundown on what that means

the general definition of fictionkin means having a strong, sometimes spiritual, connection to a character

having a connection to and identifying as a character does not make you on the same level as a fictive alter or dissociative part, who 100% truly and thoroughly are that character in a single unified identity

fictives who are formed out of trauma as a result of a complex dissociative disorder are literally that character, and while sometimes we definitely have other traits outside of being that character, that is 100% who we are and it is not the same as identifying with a character

what most ppl who talk about things like “kin systems” and “kin fronting” mean is identity disturbance which, although is somewhat akin to being multiple, is not the same thing

if you dont have a complex dissociative disorder with structural dissociation like DID or OSDD-1 you are not a system. there is no such thing as a system entirely of fictives, there is no such thing as a kin system, and there is no such thing as having kintypes fronting unless there is the presence of patterned dissociative symptoms outside of identity disturbance

do not tell me to my face, a fictive part of a DID system, that me insisting that misinformation not be spread about systems because it furthers the fetishization faced by people with highly stigmatized and visible disorders especially like DID is wrong or bad because it “invalidates fictionkin.” yes, these are things that have been said to me, multiple times, to my face, by people who have absolutely no idea what theyre talking about and it honestly is a slap to the face

people with (primarily DID) DDs have been telling fickin and the like to stop using our words and experiences for themselves and were getting so fucking tired. you cannot just barge into a community and interject yourself into it without a) knowing anything about how the actual disorders work, and b) meeting any of the qualifications for said disorders that the community is based off of, and also! c) refusing to listen to members of that community after we tell you that youre making us uncomfortable and fetishized

I wanted to say thank you- you make a lot of sense and come across as totally open and logical. I have introjects in my system and its hard when the only people online seem to be roleplayers. Can I ask who you are an introject of?

Not a problem! I generally try to be open and agreeable, because even if people are spreading misinformation, that misinformation is pretty rampant on tumblr. I don’t blame people for believing it because it is so widespread, so I do my best to try to openly explain to people what’s going on.

I understand what that’s like, to have people think you’re just a roleplayer and don’t really understand why introjects exist in the first place. It’s pretty frustrating, but I have to remind myself that these people (generally singlets) do not have any comparable situation to even try to relate to introjects on. It’s not something they can easily picture because they have no point of reference.

And, I mentioned I wouldn’t outright state my canon counterpart here, but I can tell you that my canon source is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. If you happen to guess it I doubt I would be opposed to confirmation.

Hm, I see this has been responded to rather rudely previously so I apologize for rehashing but I’d like to provide you a little bit of information here.

I won’t be touching median systems since that is out of my range of experience, but BPD cannot cause systems. There is such a thing as imitative DID, but the fundamentality of identity alteration in DID/OSDD-1 and BPD are entirely different.

Here’s a pretty good post describing the differences that puts it into words way better than I could.

you’re right and wrong. you SHOULDNT diagnose yourself with DID. but self diagnosing doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have it, what the fuck. Adding onto this, DID patients usually spend about 7 years in the mental health system and in therapy before getting a DID diagnosis.

I have diagnosed DID and this was how long I was in therapy before I received my diagnosis. I did not outright tell people I had DID before then, I talked about how I could have it and how I noticed a lot of things going on with me and many people said the exact kind of things to me:

“You can’t have something that severe and not have it diagnosed before” Which is incorrect because DID is a covert disorder. It HAS to be.

“You don’t have that I would have noticed” Again, DID is covert and being told this I doubted the shit out of myself even when I got my diagnosis.

I’m not 100% supportive of self diagnosis because malingering DID and imitative DID exist, but with DID is it a tricky subject because of generally how long it takes to get a diagnosis, how few DID specialists exist, and how not every professional is willing to even diagnose DID in the first place.

I think the old diagnosis for DID was memory loss but it's not required anymore. Even if it doesn't fit DID they're still other things than that that cause systems.

As you can see, amnesia and memory disturbance is a requirement for diagnosis in the DSM IV and DSM V. So, I have no idea what this anon was trying to say?

Not everyone experiences being kin the same way. For some people, kintypes probably really are more like fictives. I think we should accept people’s differences.

Well I had the unfortunate fate of stumbling across this randomly, and let me tell you that fictional introjects (fictives) are not something you can just decide that you are or that you have in your system.

There are actually certain requirements to being a fictional introject, you can’t just get a kinshift of a certain character and decide that you’re a fictive of that character. A fictive kind of has to be an introject of something, and you can’t really... become that over time. Either you are or you aren’t...

Kintypes are also not totally separate people with their own self awareness like system members. Insinuating that experiencing kinshifts is the same as experiencing self-state splits into several alters is grossly misinterpreting and miscommunicating what it’s like to actually be part of a system and have to deal with this on a daily basis.

A lot of the misinterpretation of what alters/system members, etc are like and manifest as is what i contribute the random insurgence of “natural systems” on Tumblr, because nobody is actually being given actual information regarding this.  People start to notice identity instability in themselves or “sometimes I think I act differently when I’m in a different kinshift so these must be headmates!” and thats actually nothing like what having DID/OSDD-1 is like?

Anyways, no your kintypes are not and never will be fictives. They are still consciously you and therefore not any kind of introject alter

I have in fact noticed that you are suddenly changing your tune again directly after being called out about system hopping itself not being the core issue behind abusive tactics. Now when someone comes to you asking about how to identify fakes, you bring up ways that the concept of system hopping can be used to abuse people or is a sign of faking. I do believe the first one of those was what J was explaining. Additionally, there is the slight issue of both XXX and my system having drafted the original bullet lists (here and here) that you are pulling a very small number of points from. Care to credit us?

My first experience with involuntary hospitalization was a wild one. The facility itself was nice, but boy was it a bumpy ride.

So I went to the like 6 groups they had every single day, I didn’t miss a single one. Every single group, there was a guy named Robert who would try to come in group with us. The staff would always escort him out and I never understood why until they allowed him into one group and he talked for the entire session about how his family had been teleported into the future and that the people he lived with now were robots. It’s cool that he was able to talk about it with other people, but I kinda wanted my CBT group.

There was a kid who kept asking me to come to his room to preform satanic rituals cause for some reason he thought I was a satanist (I wore a shirt with a black cat on it). He talked to me nonstop about the rituals he’s preformed with dead animals.

My roommate had a miscarriage literally right next to me and that was a hell of a trip.

There was a guy who would scream for hours every morning and night at medicine time cause he thought he was being poisoned. We had security called up a lot.

Normally you get your clothes from The Safe like a couple hours after you show up in the BHU but I didn’t get my belongings till the middle of my second day? They forgot to give me my stuff.

When I mentioned to the doctor assigned to me that I had DID, they called some lady in and she interrogated me for about 3 hours about my DID. They said she was there to talk to all the patients, but she only talked to me and then left?
