Nobody talks about how the Kaou and tears of blood arc is a direct parallel to Inuyasha's time spent frozen on the tree, so I'm going to talk about it. It's not new that Kikyou has been used as a metaphor for Inuyasha being stagnant in his grief. Passive in his will to live, if you will. She is a direct cause for his willingness to give up living (out of Survivor's Guilt). So it's very fitting that she's used as the catalyst to both of these chapters where Inuyasha is trapped in time and giving into his grief.
Even the poses are similar. On the contrary, Kagome has always been seen as a metaphor for active movement, growth, and LIFE for Inuyasha. It's always her voice that brings him back from the brink. She pulls out Kikyou's arrow keeping him still, and in the Kaou arc it's her own arrow that saves him - a direct contrast to Kikyou's use of the weapon.
Both of these arc begin with grief and Kikyou and end with Inuyasha choosing life because of Kagome. It's fitting that the unsealing ends with Inuyasha having a new chance at life (and love) and it's fitting that the Kaou arc ends with Inuyasha choosing to overcome his grief and attachment to Kikyou's death once and for all, and choose to move on and "be okay". With Kagome.
Great analysis 👏🏻

Inuyasha is such a hopeless romantic. Guy falls in love really easily but doesn't truly bond unless she's genuinely open and happy and brave and just perfect to him. Then he's all "I like your smile" and "I never trusted anyone before you" and "You smell good" and "Your heart is strong and beautiful". GOD. This man, I swear.
I originally wanted to embrace you, but my hand ended up like this
