BMI is so fucking horrifically evil I cant stand it. You can't get healthcare because of an arbitary number defined by fuck all. I hate it
the touch starved traumatized tgirl would like to awkwardly sit near you and not initiate contact
it's interesting bringing up some transfeminist theory to my drag race watching cis therapist thinking she'll disagree but then she just starts spitting incredible transfeminist truth that would cause 100 years discourse on tumblr.
she was telling me that all her transmasc clients have soared up through their careers and have private insurance, while all her transfem clients are financially struggling and are on state insurance
she was like "they transition into privilege and patriarchy is happy to accept them as men" and what's awesome is she said her transmasc clients generally understand this privilege and use it responsibly, including in support of trans women
like girl they would kill you dead on tumblr.com
and you know to be clear these aren't even things I would have said. I mean there's definitely Nuance at the very least. if I were to say the "transitioning into privilege" and "being accepted by patriarchy as men" things myself I'd want to be able to prove them out relatively rigorously, and I haven't done that, so don't take this as me doing a full cosign on these claims. but damn, she did just kind of say them
on the transitioning into privilege thing: I don't tend to say this one because I think it's at least probably not linearly true. my theory of this one is kind of in a fetal development stage but I tend to imagine that coming out as trans is a sharp drop in privilege not immediately outweighed by manhood, but then that passing as a man and performing masculinity start to up one's privilege again. #privilegemath
on the "being happily accepted into patriarchy" thing, my therapist was saying that men tend to be cool with it because it reaffirms that manhood is good and desirable. I hadn't really considered that angle in my own analysis. I usually operate under the assumption that an oppressor class will not be so happy to accept upward movement with open arms, but maybe your average man is not really concerned with gatekeeping manhood as a class, so long as the goodness of masculinity is being affirmed? definitely a thought that's influencing my theory a little
to further roll this spitball, this concept gives me new perspective on transmisogyny. because, even before we transition, I think a lot of us make it obvious, intentionally or otherwise, that masculinity isn't something we aspire to or have a particular interest in performing. through this lens, that would single us out for mistreatment because we embody a disinterest or discomfort with masculinity, which challenges the unquestionable goodness of manhood. and then, when we come out, it becomes a full on attack on the unquestionable goodness of manhood. we spurn the very core assumptions of male supremacy
Wow Mousey I canât believe your therapist is Transandrophobia smh
On a surely completely unrelated note, did you know that transmascs are 3x more likely to have a degree than transfemmes, and that almost half of trans people with no degree are unemployed, while only (âonlyâ) 16% of trans people with at least an associates degree are unemployed?

Oh whoops I tripped dropped a link all over the floor oh no
they should make it easier to get bottom surgery
special mention to how the BMI requirements are horrific and they need to go!
I've been thinking a lot lately about how many trans women I've known who come to realize over time that they experience much more bottom dysphoria than they've consciously understood
I think this is partially a problem of trans women being fetishized, a trans woman's value being equated with her penis, but I think it's also partially a problem of availability. personally if something is difficult to attain then I have an internal reflex to unconsciously convince myself I don't want or need it. for this reason and many others it needs to be made easier
personally it's fucking crazy going through life not even being able to be naked around trusted loved ones or fully have sex because the dysphoria is so bad. it's unacceptable that so many of us have to live like this. it's horrible that for many trans women it's almost impossible to get the care we need. it does not have to be like this
Can someone add context to all of this? I dont follow hank green closely
A few years ago Hank Green put out a video about knitting where he was extremely condiscending about it, and clearly demonstrated that he doesn't understand how important it has been throughout history. Many people rightly accused him of expressing a subconscious misogynistic bias.
A short time after that he put out a video on HRT that ingolved several transmasc people, but didn't so much as consult a single transfeminine person about feminizing HRT. As a result the information it put out about feminizing HRT was not just wrong but severelt dangerous. If anyone followed the advice in the video they would have developed osteoporosis.
After both of these scandals his "appologies" were extremely milktoast. In the case of the HRT video it was barely existant. As he just put out an "apology" letter in the chat portion of SciShow's youtube channel. A section most people don't even know exists. And in both cases the "apology" basically just amounted to "woopsie! Sometimes we get things wrong *shrug.*"
Recently his videos have been drawing a lot of criticism from people who've noticed that they seem like they're written by AI. And just this week Hank Green admitted that he uses it heavily, and that he may be addicted to it.

blocking tip: you don't have to wait to have a negative interaction with someone to block them. you can block them without ever interacting with them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone being rude to someone else and preemptively blocked them
we do need to be talking more about how cute it is when a girl imprints on characters in media really easily. i love your new pfp. wow she's really just like you, huh? oops sorry i didn't mean to call you by her name haha.
you have to consciously unlearn racism and continue to watch for it because it will come out without realizing. because so much of society is structured around it. shrugging and going "i dont care" or "i dont know how else to say it" means you are okay with being racist and hurting other people with how much you dont give a shit about them.
your mom jokes don't work when you know someone too well. I would never be in bed with such a wicked woman. That's not even what I had your mom saying last night. I wouldn't speak to her.
playing stupid games but im really bad at them so im not even winning the stupid prizes
post: I noticed that in act 1 there's a loaded gun mounted on the wall there. I bet by the end of act 2 it will have been fired
all the replies: you're a fucking idiot
*after act 2*
all the replies: how the fuck did you know that
okay but we can't know for sure that the loud noise and bright flash offstageâwhich occurred after the character who was holding the gun exited the stage with itâwas a gunshot, because we didn't get to directly see it
Seeing a lot of trans ralsei stuff lately (mostly people talking about how itâs been recievedby the fanbase)
Just saying, toby wouldnât have made ralsei talk about being a princess, fall out of a closet, have flowery offer them a blue and pink drink and then explicitly call them a princess, all before having the power menu refer to them with they/them pronouns at the end of the chapter if he didnât have some reason for it
agnostic deltarune player: no one knows why the power menu says that
nobody knows why authors use symbolism and implication in their stories it's literally never been studied
