Oh, you’re a resident? So then you’re not a real doctor?
I’m a real doctor the same that you’re a real asshole.

Research mentor: *edits my study summary and adds in a new secondary objective*
Also my research mentor: *highlights the secondary objective she just added* I don’t understand this.
Me: ?????
Still alive
Senior now, very strange
Knows some stuff, but stuff to learn >> stuff I know
Trying to dig my way out of the burnout hole second year created
Have to figure out what the fuck to do with my life after residency
Compounding existential angst
Here we go
When I was a medical student I really did not believe that we were a lot of extra work. We did our best to be helpful! We completed small tasks, updated handoffs, etc! Sure we didn’t make a HUGE contribution, but surely we were at least slightly net positive and not a total time-suck.
I see now just how wrong I was and I am grateful a million times over to the residents who actually took time to teach me. I have a much better appreciation for how much effort that must have required.
‘Frankenstein was the doctor’ first of all that little bitch was a college dropout so don’t you ‘doctor’ me

SLYTHERIN: “You have to pretend you get an endgame. You have to carry on like you will; otherwise, you can’t carry on at all.” –Rainbow Rowell (Carry On)
Elton John on Freddie Mercury.
(I’m posting this less to correct the timeline portrayed in Bohemian Rhapsody, which I mostly really enjoyed, than simply to share a beautiful story that shines light on who Freddie actually was, up to the very end, via twitter.)
Career goals: Repressed Victorian governess who stumbles across a mansion’s dark secret.
Lucy Liu in Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)

R1 Brief Note
Intern year is almost over, I don’t know when that happened. Feels a little bit exciting but also scary.
Here are a few things I’ve discovered (or re-affirmed) along the way
Amazing things happen in obstetrics, (it’s my favorite when the partners cry when they meet their baby for the first time, or when the sex is a surprise)
Bad things happen in obstetrics, and when they do it’s that much worse because patients tend to be young and healthy (or newly born)
There are levels of tired that I had not conceived of before
Turning babies from OP to OA is one of the most satisfying things I have ever experienced in medicine
Uteruses BLEED like nothing you have ever seen before (again, they are to be feared and respected)
Getting to do things in the OR is still a real thrill
Ob/Gyn is full of highs and lows and the emotional whiplash can be so, so taxing
I think picked the right field
sometimes i have too many emotions and sometimes i have none at all but i always always feel like i’m drowning

i made this post when i was in A Mood and all the replies are so angst and depressing except this Whole Ass Mood. Learn how to swim Bitch it’s 2018 we’re dealing with our problems
