Mitchell whined. Again. He missed a white Christmas. He never mentioned that what he really missed was a happy, relaxed, intimate white Christmas. What he wanted most was to whisk Anders away from his overbearing brothers and give him the experience of a stable family holiday.
What Mitchell didn’t know was that Anders already had a plan. On December 23rd, Mitchell would come home from his night shift. A travelling outfit would be laid out on the bed, and their bags would be packed and waiting by the door. Olaf would drive them to the airport and feed the goldfish while they were gone.
With any luck, they’d join the mile high club before lunch was served.
Miraculously, everything went to plan and they jogged into the arms of Luke and Iolaus at JFK baggage claim in time to make midnight mass on Christmas Eve at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They didn’t even miss the chorale.
Christmas morning dawned white and crisp. Presents were exchanged. Breakfast was shared. Sweaters were layered.
They went ice skating and drank hot cocoa while strolling in Central Park. Anders treated for pizza and they all headed back to Luke’s cozy apartment.
Iolaus slapped an Uno deck on the table.
Luke looked up at him. “You want war, dear? Bring it on!”
Iolaus laughed. “Let’s make it interesting. We’ll play teams. Both partners have to empty their hands to win.”
Anders got up and made Luke switch seats. “Gods versus Monsters.”
Luke and Mitchell both glared at him.
It was ugly. They might as well have taken swords and fought. But in the end, it was one blue card slapped down after a vicious draw four wild card that ended the game. Luke and Mitchell both roared as Iolaus grinned at Anders.
Mitchell woke up first. It was rare, but he loved seeing Anders look relaxed in sleep. After a few minutes of watching, he slipped away to the kitchen and made breakfast for everyone.
When he was finished, he started a pot of coffee and crawled back in bed with Anders and a book. There, he waited for the rest of the group to wake up.

“ Such a pity I don’t really have a good sense of self-preservation and can be seen as an adult in the place I come from, then. ”

In the Basler Jura (Switzerland) near the French border, Iolaus finds a mysterious stranger, who is wounded but refuses to go to the hospital. So Iolaus decides to take care of him himself.
