Melting Me Softly

Starring: Ji Chang Wook/Won Jin-ah/Yoon Sae-ah

- For those who do not know, this series is Ji Chang Wook's comeback entry since his military service ended. So, safe to say, many have high hopes for the series. 😊

- How hard is it to lose the one you love - in this case, death? Bez, it's super hard.

This gets even harder when you do not have proof of their disappearance and ONLY ASSUME that you've lost them.

Imagine the pain of having to mourn a loved one that you are still hoping to find alive in the back of your heart and mind.

This may sound like a spoiler but I literally cried on the second episode. ANG SAKIT! 😭🥺🙈

- Family FIRST. We all love our family. I love how this series shows us that no matter our age, we will all still be someone's child and sibling. We protect and love our own. And we will do all things we can to support them.❤️

- Pateince is key. 💯 So for the pilot episode, I had so many questions in mind already. I found it very confusing. Although I have to admit, it will all make sense as the episodes progress. Hence the first sentence - PATIENCE IS KEY. 🙈🤣

The Gist:

The series is about two individuals who entered a cryonics experiment during the 1980s for a variety show.

It was intended to be a 24-hour experiment but due to unfortunate circumstances, they woke up 20 years after.

In total, there were 6 participants in the experiment. But only two agreed to show their face for the viewership of the variety show.

One of the two participants to to agree is Ma Dong Chan. He is the male lead in the story and is played by Ji Chang Wook

Ma Dong Chan is a renowned director during his time. He is known to have the golden touch for all the shows he directed turned out to be certified blockbusters. He participated in this program because he is the kind of director to do all-bizarre things to prove a point. He believes that it is possible to change the world through positive and innovative media platforms.

The second participant is Ko Mi Ran. She is the female lead in the story and is played by Won Jin Ah.

Ko Mi Ran is every woman out there - she does everything for her family. Especially for her special needs brother. The reason she participated in the experiment is for her brother. You'll find out more when you watch it. 😉

The story begins after they wake up 20 years post-freezing. In 2 decades, everyone and everything changed, though for the two of them, it was literally just yesterday.

See how they cope with the change and how things progress from there in the series. 💜

What I liked about the series:

- First of all, JI CHANG WOOK! ❤️ We all know that Ji Chang Wook is a certified OPPA. No questions asked. From Healer to The K2 to Empress Ki, he made us fall in love with him - ALL THE FREAKIN' WAY. 😍❤️😊

I love how Ji Chang Wook got the role of an angsty director this time. It suits him - with his charming looks and seductive charisma. 😉❤️😋 This just goes to show that due to his great acting skills, any role just works for the man.

In reference to his director role, I love how he always says (as Ma Dong Chan) that he became a variety show director to give the people something to look forward to amidst all the negativity the world brings.

And when asked: Why do you go extreme measures for a variety show?

He always answers: Because I have to do what others are afraid of doing to make a change.

You see? He gave inspiring a new meaning. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

But seriously tho, it's so hard not fall in love with JCW. He's just... well look at that 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

- This is my first encounter with Won Jin Ah. I've got to say, the image of a frail woman suits her. She's sooooooo thin - LITERALLY. Hahahaha! I think one strong wind blow can affect her balance. 🙈😂🤪 But I appreciated her acting. Good job, girl! 💯

I like her character's feistiness, tho. She looks frail but her will power is strong. She will do everything in her power to support her family. Isn't she all of us? Hahahaha! Go for #GirlPower! 💜👍🏻💯

- I love the friendship of Ko Mi Ran, Kyung Ja and Young Seon. Despite the 20 year hiatus on their friendship, they still managed to chat and bond as if it was just yesterday.

Don't we all wish we have this kind of relationship? One that can withstand long pauses and boys coming in between. #SANAALL 😊❤️👍🏻

- The chemistry. ❤️ I've read reviews saying that JCW and WJA lack the connection required to make a kilig series. But I saw the chemistry. There's just so much push-and-pull going on that it makes the heart cringe and wonder - ANO NA BA TALAGA?!?!

- THE KISSING SCENE THAT WAS THE TALK OF THE TOWN!!!

As previously mentioned, I love all the music pieces included in the OST. They're all full of emotions suited for every scene it was played. Kudos to the music team of the series. Gujab! 👍🏻👏🏻🎉💯

I also liked the snippet of Can't Take My Eyes Off of You on the first episode (with Ko Mi Ran dancing in her PJ's). Hihi. ❤️😊💯

- I love beautiful relationships between FAMILY. I liked how the family relations were displayed in the series - it was genuine and sincere. Makes you want to be a part of their family. 😊

- I love the comedy stint between Ma Dong Chan and his niece, Ma Seo Yoon.

In reality, it's actually rare for older people to listen to kids her age. But she is well-versed when it came to technological advances, what's in and what's not, and just LIFE in general. I found it funny because Ma Dong Chan actually listens to her and she MAKES A LOT OF SENSE - actually, she's MORE SENSIBLE than the adults in her home. 🤣🤣🤣

- I also liked the funny realization Young Seon had about her husband and son. This can be considered one of the best scenes in the series - for me at least. Hahahaha!

In reality (in the series), it is not intended to be funny. But it came across as funny to me because...well...20 years has passed and it is history repeating itself - literally. 🤣🤣🤣

Cons:

- Honestly? I found the beginning of the series very NOISY. All the shouting was literally banging my eardrums while watching. I almost skipped the first episode because of this. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

Also, the first episode was trying to be funny - and when I say trying, it was very evident that they were trying. Good thing tho, Ji Chang Wook was able to comvince me to continue watching despite this. 💁🏻‍♀️

- The 20-year love story gap did not quite work for me. Was too awkward to watch. Personal opinion, tho. 💁🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

- The acting appears to be too theatrical for me. It's soooooo exaggerated especially with the scenes of Hyeon Gi and Hong Seok. 🙅🏻‍♀️

- The villain's existence is somewhat "short-lived" and all over the place.

You're kinda expecting a lot of action since the series progresses in such a way but then, it turns out to be a "meh" ending for the villain. Then, the continuation of the evilness seemed as though it was put there just for the sake of it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't want to compare, but I'm so used to korean villains who are so agitating that they make you cringe on so many levels.

- It's okay not to know everything. Just because you don't know it today, doesn't mean you'll never learn it. There's always time to learn new things. ✅😊😉

- Often times, we miss out on opportunities bigger than what we have in mind because we are too fixated on things and people we think are good for us.

- It's always good to pursue something you are passionate about. In this day and age, we are pushed to pick courses which will, you know, pay the bills. Hahahaha!

When we do something we love, work becomes play - you learn and enjoy at the same time. And excelling is easier since you are eager to learn. 😊

Do what makes you happy - be it on the sidelines, spare time, or whatnot. 😎👍🏻😊

The Gist:

The story revolves around 2 individuals - Situ Mo and Gu Weiyi. It's a coming of age type of story that takes us to the mature romantic journey of the couple.

Situ Mo, played by Xing Fei, is the female lead in the series. She is outspoken, quirky, and very independent. She knows what she wants and works hard for it.

As for her passion, she loves advertising. But her parents insisted she takes up accountancy, instead (happens to many of us, doesn't it?). This is one of the early struggles of her character in the series. She's a graduate of accountancy but she wishes to pursue an advertising career.

For the longest time, she's been waiting for her best friend, Fu Pei, to pick up his courage and confess his feelings to her.

- SPOILER ALERT -

Sadly though, it didn't happen. But she stood up and accepted what needed to be accepted. Strong girl, isn't she?

Gu Weiyi, played by Lin Yi, is the male lead in the series. He's the awkward one. Everything is new for him in terms of relationships. He's got it all figured out in books. But he's quite terrible at it in the emotional side of things. Hahaha! 😅🤣🤭

Apart from being the school genius, he's also the university's heartthrob. Well, who wouldn't crush on someone with this face? ❤️😍😊 Such a BB. ❤️💯😍

Their journey begins with a bag switch and the incident of having to live in the same house. 😅

What I liked about the series:

- The series is soooo fun to watch. It's light and simple. It's a feel good, chinese drama. I hardly noticed that I finished watching 15 episodes in one day. 🙈🤣👍🏻 This is crazy considering that one episode is almost an hour long. For me, this is a good sign. Hahahaha! Don't you think so too? 😊

- I liked Gu Weiyi's awkwardness. It was fit for his cold and clueless character. 💯😊👍🏻 His stiffness really worked as Gu Weiyi making it look natural. 👌🏻😍✅

I also admired his acting. Being clueless when it comes to relationships can hardly be seen in men. 😊 (Is this considered stereotyping? I hope not. Hihi! 🙈) But his projection of the clueless image was so on point and hilarious. Hahahaha! 🤣

And I also appreciate how a guy, despite it being the personality of his character, takes time and effort to study and research about the things a guy should do for a girl during courtship, dates, etc. Do guys really do this? Such a sweet gesture. Kakakilig lalo. UWU. ☺️🙈😍❤️

- I liked how Situ Mo is not your ordinary type of girl. She isn't shy. Instead, she's very outspoken and quirky. 😊💯👍🏻 You'll want to wish you had her personality when you were her age (At least in my case, for that matter. 😅)

I honestly think Situ Mo is the definition of a strong independent woman. Hahaha! I love how she's so cool with anything - waiting, confession, voicing out her opinion, etc.

Her character is so strong that I am actually jealous. Hahaha! I wish I had the courage to stand up for my thoughts, tell people I am angry, confess my feelings to the one I like, confront my first love, hahahaha! And so much mooooooore! I want Situ Mo to be my spirit animal. Hahahaha! 🙋🏻‍♀️✅💯😊

- FRIENDSHIP APPRECIATION POST: I love how Situ Mo's friendship with her bff did not falter because of some guy coming between them. I really like watching friendships overcome issues like this. Don't ya wish you have this kind of support system? Hahahaha! Good job girls for not letting men come between your relationship! 💯✅👌🏻👍🏻😊

- I love the chemistry of the main characters. It seems very realistic! The push and pull of the emotions projected by the actors really come across. Nakakagigil! ❤️😍😊 I got butterflies coming and going all through out the series. ❤️💯👍🏻🙈

I enjoyed the series a lot because I can see myself in them when I was trying things about relationships for the first time. I giggled so much as well because while watching, in my mind I am saying, Situ Mo is me/I am Gu Weiyi. Hahahahaha! I can totally relate to their awkwardness. 💯🙋🏻‍♀️😅

Well, we are all beginners at some point in our lives, aren't we?

- I love how the series shows you the character growth without being too hasty. It's satisfying to watch since you get to see how each of the characters grow and mature slowly but surely without being draggy. Hahaha! Good job to the team! ❤️😊✅💯

- The series is full of comedy stints. Especially on scenes with the nerd squad. Since all of them are clueless - even the professor, it's funny how they try to understand the female mind using scientific equations (which, we all know will be a total failure considering the complexity/simplicity of a woman's thoughts. Hahahahaha!) 😅💯🤣

- I think it's somewhat unrealistic to have very supportive parents in terms of relationships - especially having their children, who are of different genders, live in the same house without ADULT supervision (at least for my family, that is. 😉🤣). Hahahahaha! But, wouldn't it be nice if this was the case? Hihihi! Freedom! LOL! SANA ALL!

- I love how the conflicts in the series are very relatable. These are issues we've gone through during our younger years. (Speaking based on personal experiences, friends. Haha!😂)

I think it's important when the story creates a connection with its audience thru things like these. Since for the young ones who are watching, how these issues get resolved can help them overslcome what they are going through this time as well. 😉

- The OST is sooooooo nice! It's so refreshing and fun. And the entrances are all on point! Such an eargasm! 🙈💯👍🏻✅❤️ Will be providing a soundtrack link below. 😉

Cons:

- I think the character conflicts were pretty light. Or, maybe, there were big issues tackled but was not discussed and focused deeply - intentionally. It somehow makes the series feel shallow. Hihi. 🙈😊

Although, I honestly think that the series lacking depth matches the feel good intention of the writer. So, it's still a job well-done. 😉

- Genuine friendships really matter. It's always nice to have someone to lean on on hard days and someone to celebrate with on glory days. 💯😊

- Friendships that can overcome many obstacles are to last a lifetime. As the saying goes, partnerships that overcome struggles become stronger.

I think it's the same with friendships: When the friendship is on a deeper level, petty issues are easily resolved and bigger misunderstandings don't last long. 👍🏻😇😊

- Loyalty is very hard to find. In any industry, one's loyalty cannot be guaranteed.

I can't say anything else since not much can be said about it if it can't be guaranteed. Do you get me? 😂

- It's a life bonus to have a very understanding partner who supports your life and career endeavours. So, when you've found the one, never let him/her go. 💯👍🏻😊

- Lying will do you no good. Even if the intention is good, it will not justify the deception. Aminin mo na lang yung totoo, bes. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

- Family time is very important. Make sure to spend time with your loved ones even with your busy schedules.

One day, you'll wake up and realize that your kids have grown and your parents have aged and you can't do anything about it. You can't make up for lost time. Hehehe! Sounds cliché but this really matters. Make time and collect memories. 💜😊💯

The Gist:

Entourage is a korean adaptation of an american series with the same title. It depicts the story of a young man named Cha Young Bin (played by Seo Kang Joon) and his friends as members of the entertainment industry.

The series shows both the struggles and the perks media personnel experience.

Cha Young Bin, played by Seo Kang Joon, is the lead character in the series. He is a new artist in the industry - gaining fame because of his good looks.

To his friends, he is the generous one. He supports his 3 friends who live with him and don't mind being the bread winner in the group.

To his agency, he is a treasure - mainly because he is an actor on the rise. Plus, Kim Eun Gab (co-CEO of Ok and Gab Ent.) really believes in him - hence, his diva attitude.

However, problems began to surface when he refuses certain projects to do one series with the girl he likes (played by Ahn So Hee). They make sure he gets the role...

SPOILER ALERT!!

But he ends up not doing it because he and the girl broke up. A lot of things happened in between - that led to so many conflicts inside his group and with the company.

The in-between things are for you to find out. 😅 So, watch at your own risk! 😂

Kim Eun Gab, played by Cho Jin Woong, is Cha Young Bin's agency's CEO. He was the one who discovered Cha Young Bin and turned him into a rising star. He is well connected and famous in the industry - primarily because he is very ill-tempered. 😂🤣

Cha Joon, played by Lee Kwang Soo, is Cha Young Bin's cousin. He is a member of an old idol group who was dissolved before they rose to fame.

In the series, he is shown as the old geezer who is still trying to make ends meet in his career. He is the living definition of STRUGGLE - as he is really struggling to get his big break in the industry.

Lee Ho Jin, played by Park Jung Min, is Cha Young Bin's manager and childhood best friend. He actually wanted to become a writer, but his career took a turn when Cha Young Bin entered showbiz.

He is somewhat like a push over. He always gets scolded by Kim Eun Gab for not being able to control Cha Young Bin. But everything changed when he met Suh Ji An. 😜😊

Turtle, played by Lee Dong Hwi, is like the baby of the group. He is happy-go-lucky. He could care less about what people think of him.

He spends the most time with Cha Joon. He actually became Cha Joon's manager but ended up quitting since...he 's just not ready for that type of commitment. 😂

What I liked about the series:

- SEO KANG JOON! 💜 Seriously, who wouldn't appreciate this guy's visuals? Cutiiiieeee. 😍

- The OST is nice. Listening to it makes you feel free-spirited and RICH! HAHAHAHAHA! 🎶✔️

- Their friendship is one we could all wish we have. #SanaAll

- The series is funny - at times. 😅 The comical content is there - it's just not present all the time. 😜

Cons:

- I totally get why this series flopped: IT LACKS CONTENT. 😭

For the first time since the release of Princess Hours, a 16-episode kdrama took me almost 2 weeks to finish. It's like you're just there watching the same thing over and over again in every episode. It's sad, really. 😥🤐🥴

- It's "trying hard" to be interesting. There are a lot of things going on but many issues and perosnalities were hanging - you just don't get their existence. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Conflicts were shallow and it lacks all the necessary back stories. Personal opinion, friends. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do not be deceived by the trailer. Hahahaha! It looks interesting from there. 🤪😳😅

- Character build up was not there at all. The issues of the characters were all over the place. 🙅🏻‍♀️

I think they shortened the series too much that it lost the vital parts (or so I think - I have not watched the original series).
