Passing through the streets of flea bottom Alannys pushed past the people who were crowded around her. Not many people did stand in her way though, she wasn’t noble in their eyes, she was just dangerous. Which she was happy about, it meant people didn’t want to bother her. Stopping in front of one of the bars an actual smile hit her face. “I wondered when you’d be free from baby sitting my brother.” @ircnbcrne

ALANNYS greyjoy was perhaps one of the few people that could bring a real smile to briseis’s face. one of the few who truly understood the woman. it was the barest hint of a smile though, courtesies and manners meant very little to both of them. “it is a full time job.” she answered, rumbling out a low laugh. “didn’t expect to see you out here. enjoying the views, are you?”

“Then it seems I’m fine where I am.” Ascar finished, not even bothering to hide his smirk, “Though, why the wish to remain in silence? Talking is one of the few things we may do whilst kept here. It’s a fine way to pass time.” And more preferable to him than most.

IRRITATION burned in her eyes as she levelled another glare in the boy’s direction. “i disagree.” she refused to explain herself, she didn’t have to justify her opinions to this insolent child.

he snorted at that, brows raising then. “right, because speaking to my wife has gone so well in the last eighteen years of our marriage.” his tone was drenched in sarcasm, though his thoughts didn’t linger on his wife for long. they rarely did, even in the early days of their marriage. “you are a pary of my people and what you all do reflects on me. so make sure you don’t get caught when you have fun.” alek would be making sure he did the same, especially in times like these. mere killers were something he did not fear, but he didn’t need to be constantly interrogated while stuck in the capital.

THE SHADOW of a grin crossed briseis’s lips in answer to that. “if you do decide to talk to her, make sure you let me know first. everyone is so dull here, i’m desperate to see a fight break out.” she emitted a low chuckle before lifting the bottle to her lips and taking another long sip, a bemused expression lining her face when she lowered it. “you think i’m dumb enough to get caught?”

       domas gave a nod, face changing into an expression of interest and respect.    he wasn’t wholly familiar with the customs of the ironborn, but from what the stark boys had relayed to him over their years of teaching - ironborn woman worked harder than any other in westeros and were respected, rewarded and feared for their prowess as captains and warriors.   “ i see why you treat it with such care, ”  he nodded to the blade.       “ did you sail your own ship and command to kingslanding ? ”

BRISEIS was practically glowing with pride. something that was rare for the woman who had little more than foul words and scowls for anyone born outside of the iron islands. “not this time.” briseis had captained her own crew for a long time, but she hadn’t wanted to drag the rest of them with her to king’s landing so she’d come with the greyjoy siblings instead.

“You can ask the Martell siblings, irritating people is a specialty of mine.” They might not agree to a stranger, especially not one of the Iron Born with how they treated Nymeria. Then again that might have something to do with why he was still here. Pulling out the ornate dagger he looked it over, “Actually it looks fine. I suppose I’ve got nothing to do but stand here. Maybe we’ll become best friends.”

"I WON’T be doing that.” she answered brusquely, moving her attention away from him and back to the knife in her hands. turning it over and over, inspecting it for any marks even though she knew full well it was in perfect condition. she hadn’t had the opportunity to use it for far too long. “doubt it.” she grunted out, her focus barely shifting as she spoke.

She turned her head when she heard someone come close and speak and she smiled; Lysandra recognised another ironborn and was glad there were more of them.  “Oh nothing really, just the ‘oh my’ and all the world is ending panic some people get; someone was complaining about the food like there wasn’t more pressing matters.  It just makes having to be here more annoying.”

"RIDICULOUS, aren’t they?” briseis grumbled, a half smile granted in the younger ironborn’s direction. having someone who understood her opinions on these mainlanders was refreshing, even if she was far more outspoken than bri had ever been. “it’ll be over soon. then we can all return home.”

Biting his tongue to keep from snapping about names and rank, the man simply clenched and unclenched his fists twice. She was one of the more tolerable Islanders, and as she hadn’t caused any real issue, he couldn’t be angry. “Most seem content talking theories on who killed those two. Some think it was us.”

BRISEIS made a sound of disgust in response to his words. “stupid mainlanders.” she muttered. “if alek wanted to kill someone he’d do it. he wouldn’t waste his fucking time pretending he didn’t.” the murders reeked of mainland bullshit. everyone knew that the ironborn didn’t shy away from murder and they certainly didn’t give a shit about the stupid games of lying and evading like they did here. any islander would have proudly claimed the murder if they were behind it.

Ascar smiled, this was fun, “But if the other person is an idiot then why would you care what an idiot thinks of you talking to another idiot on the floor?” he paused a moment, his tone turning wry, “Unless you put a lot of meaning into what idiots think of you and you seem too strong a woman for such things.”

"I DON’T.” briseis practically groaned, her eyes rolling skyward. she clenched her fist, trying her best to keep a lid on her frustration, a feat that was growing more and more difficult every second this stranger kept on talking. “i just don’t want anyone talking to me. got it?”

         he gave an appreciative nod, he had expected a family heirloom - and he wasn’t that far removed from the truth.    “your father has a fine eye for weaponry,” domas agreed eyes following the curve and glint of the blade, “for what feat did you receive it?    if my interactions with the ironborn thus far have been accurate, gifts are something earned with blood and bravery - if at all.”

"HE GAVE it to me after i’d proven myself a true ironborn and earned command of my first crew.” a hint of pride coloured briseis’s tone. she had felt certain when her father had sent her off to live with the greyjoys it was to get rid of her. he had thought her weak and hoped they would get rid of her for him but instead they’d taught her to be strong and she had been able to prove her worth to anyone who had ever doubted her.

he hands the bottle to her without question, gaze still on the waves down below the window. “who else am i supposed to talk to when i want to kill everyone else?” he turns his eyes on her then, agreeing wholeheartedly. locking them all in here, people of different realms and different tradition, it would only lead to more killings. “we must be more cautious here. the king won’t hesitate to call for our heads. we’re likely already suspected, up there with the wildling and dothraki.” he snorted at that, and he hates that they can not live as they’re supposed to here. all the more reason to seek independence from the crown.

BRISEIS gave a shrug of her shoulders in response. “i don’t know, your sister? or maybe you could try talking to your wife again.” an amused snort accompanied her words. bri knew better than anybody that the last person would turn to for any sort of comfort was his wife. “you need to be careful. i’m no fancy ruling lady, so no gives a shit what i do. i can do what i want.” it wasn’t entirely true, and briseis knew it, but she didn’t have any desire to admit that she needed to start watching her words on account of these mainlanders.

Ascar raised an eyebrow, not bothering to curb his tongue since this place had worn his patience down, “My apologies, have you taken some umbrage with the floor or is it so very difficult to tilt your head down a little? If you’re going to talk to me you’ll need to tilt it down anyway.”

“I’M NOT going to talk to you.” briseis shot back, uncaring for the contradiction of her words. “you look like an idiot and the last thing i need is for some other idiot coming and asking me what i was doing talking to the idiot sitting on the floor.” she finished with a groan.

His eyes narrowed on the woman, but he made no move to correct her. His temper was short and mood ruined for the time being - the last thing he wished was to have the mainlanders see them squabbling about themselves. “Aye? Tell me its more exciting then the gossip these common idiots enjoy spreading.”

"LAST i checked, it was none of your fucking business.” bri answered easily.  her words didn’t have much malice behind them, in fact she was quite fond of maximus, she simply didn’t feel like discussing private matters with him. “what shit are they spreading now?” briseis didn’t talk to enough people to be able to keep up with the castle gossip, but she expected the mainlander nobility were likely spreading rumours about their people.

“I wasn’t really looking for any either.” Shrugging he looked around, “Wasn’t aware anyone would be here.” The red head was clearly one of the iron born, even if he hadn’t seen any of them before he’d be able to guess. “But I guess if we’re just sitting here playing with knives I could play with mine.” 

“AND YET, you remain here irritating me.” briseis muttered, annoyance coating her words. she lifted her gaze from her knife to glare at him. she didn’t know what this man wanted from her other than to annoy her into murdering him. “do what you want. i don’t care.” she would however, prefer if he could play with his knives elsewhere. briseis wasn’t in the mood to start some sort of club, if that was what he was looking for.

        SHE HAD NEVER MET AN ironborn before. her dornish blood rejected even the slightest chill otherwise padme might have sought them out after her mother died. they were similar way to the dothraki in certain ways, ruled primarily by strength and not as tied to teh crown as some other regions. but the cold would have never suited her, especially not when compared to freedom the dothraki sea and the feeling of riding across the open plains. but if she had to spend time with a westerosi better them than a pompous lord from another region.          “ planning your escape from this place? ”

BRISEIS’S eyes lifted slowly from the knife that she’d been polishing to the owner of the voice that had addressed her. she didn’t recognize the woman, but she wasn’t dressed like most of the mainlander women she had met here, even if she did speak their tongue. she raised an eyebrow, the only indication of the intrigue bri felt. “i have been since the moment my ship first landed.”

        “ HOW MUCH TROUBLE DO YOU think we’d cause if we just sailed away from this place? fuck the king’s order. ”          not that theon would. if he was the only one to get in trouble then he wouldn’t give a damn what anyone thought, but while it may surprise some mainlanders, the ironborn were loyal to their liege lord. theon wouldn’t cause unnecessary trouble to house greyjoy, especially since this wasn’t just a political squabble.it was murder and the mainlanders had decided to treat it like the world was falling apart.

"A LOT.” briseis replied, chewing on her lower lip. “the real question is, do i give a shit?” there were few people who could give orders to briseis and not expect a fist in the face in return. the dragon king was not one of them. the only reason she hadn’t set sail already was out of respect for alekyne. “if they keep me here much longer i’m going to set fire to this pile of shit and bricks.”

Shaena had taken the time to elude the guards that belonged to her house and make her way down to the docks by the Blackwater. She stood there as the guard in front of her nearly spat his words at her.  Shaena had intended to take a cruise close to the coast, but apparently that wasn’t allowed. The raven haired beauty’s eyes left his gaze and stared over his shoulder into the sea. “..So, instead of playing fisherman in the Blackawter I suggest that you go back to the Keep and knit or.. whatever it is you ladies do.” Although Shaena had been ignoring the stench of the bay, her nose crinkled at his words. Without saying anything else, she turned away and began walking away from the waters. As she approached some stairs, she saw a woman- clearly Ironborn with bright red hair who seemed preoccupied with something else. Her blue eyes couldn’t help but notice a spider crawling on her shoulder, and she quickly swatted at her left shoulder, the spider falling to the ground. Seconds later, she seemed to remember her septa’s words about the Ironborn. “Forgive me,” she stammered. “There was a spider on your shoulder- I didn’t mean any harm.”

ALL BRISEIS had wanted was to get away from these stuffy mainlander women with their affected manners and their impractical dresses, and yet even at the docks it seemed they continued to bother her. the brush of hands across her shoulder wasn’t the issue, it was the audacity shown in the gesture. “you think i need protecting me from some little spider?” the red head asked through gritted teeth. “i would think twice the next time you decide to raise a hand to a total stranger.” briseis practically spat the words at her.
