Nevertheless, just as Casca turned back to him, he could already guess he won’t like what she was going to say.

“I feel it’s one of them rhetorical questions, isn’t it?”

Despite the stiff way she talks to him, Corkus is one of her oldest companions and therefore one of those who know her the most; he knows Casca is in a bad mood. He can tell when she's happy, when she's bored, even when there is something hammering inside her head. Coexistence always seems to make things clearer, after all.
