I kinda switched platform. Here I write about my personal life but also some universal thoughts on various topics.
Rhythm⊠Heaven? What is that? Sounds kinda interesting to be honest. What did you say? Itâs a game thatâs got Warioware style minigames, rhythm based actions and catchy music mixed together? Sign me in!
When I first tried Rhythm Heaven for the DS, I didnât know what to expect really. All (kind of) rhythm based games I had played before were the sorts of Geometry Dash and Guitar Hero. But I knew that this was going to be something different.
Rhythm Heaven (or âRhythm Paradiseâ if you live in Europe) is a game released on the Nintendo DS. It was released in the year 2008 in Japan and about a year later everywhere else. Not so known predecessor, Rhythm Tengoku (basically Rhythm Heaven in Japanese) on the Game Boy Advance never got itâs release outside of Japan.
Story: Get to the Rhythm Heaven!
There is no real storyline in Rhythm Heaven for the DS.
Gameplay: Tap to the Rhythm, flick to the Beat! Just keep the Rhythm and youâll be alright!
When you first look at Rhythm Heaven, you may find it simple and repetitive. You basically do the same couple of actions for the length of a two-minute song. But wait until you get to try it and youâll be hooked! Including 50 levels, of which 10 are remixes and 16 are harder versions of previous stages. Remix levels are basically normal stages put together to fit a certain remix song to bring you extra challenge.
The game focuses mainly on two different actions, tapping and flicking. You use your DS stylus (or any stylus for that matter) to either tap on the screen or flick upwards. Thatâs it.
What makes the game so enjoyable and long lasting though, are the perfects. âGo for a perfect!â means that you mustnât miss a single cue in a minigame, and youâll be awarded with a medal alongside with a special prize. Myself, I only missed two perfects before giving up entirelyâŠ
Being on a handheld and touch screen altogether, the latency is incredibly tiny, which is a huge matter for a rhythm game!
Graphics: Like Warioware, every minigame features itâs own theme. But most of the games look similar to each other.
A rhythm game wouldnât be good if you didnât know just when exactly is your cue, right? Of course not. Rhythm Heaven adds funky situations to every game it has to offer, ranging from punching vases thrown at you, to filling robots with fuel. Rhythm Heaven has gained quite a reputation when it first came out, and no wonder. It really has something unique to it.
Soundtrack: What would be the first thing to ruin a game that focuses almost entirely on music? Well⊠bad soundtrack? You got it. Not the case with Rhythm Heaven.
Although yeah, there are some mediocre songs that are not that enjoyable to listen to, but most of the songs are pretty good. And that end credits song, bueno. A nice way to end the game
Cinematics: None really.
Conclusion: 9 out of 10. Itâs an imaginatory fun little rhythm game with lots of gameplay hours if you try to achieve all the perfects. Oh how I would love to give a perfect rating, I just cannot.
I find it badly designed that you have to quit the game in order to change handedness or profile. Me being left-handed, that is a problem for me and my friends. And with some of the songs being too âgirlyâ, but thatâs just how you put it. And one last thing, I really hated those lizardsâŠ
All in all, I really recommend Rhythm Heaven, for itâs solid compatibility on the DS and it costs like under 10⏠on eBay!

What is the big fuss about Shadow of the Colossus? I guess itâs a great game, according to EVERYONE. Maybe I should save some money I get from my underpaying job and go buy it. Okay, here we go. I got my trusty headphones and controller ready, letâs go beat some colossi and see if it was worth the 30⏠I spent. (9 hours later) ⊠⊠Iâm speechless (And tired, should propably go to sleep). Shadow of the Colossus is a game by Team Ico, which also developed the much praised Ico for the PS2. Shadow of the Colossus has been given the title of âone of the best games of all timeâ. It came out in 2005 for the PS2 and was remastered with Ico in a HD bundle for the PS3 in 2011.
Story: I have an objective. No matter the cost, I will save her. Even if it means slaying the idolsâŠ
First of all, before introducing anything.. Is the protagonist male of female?! The wiki says Wander (Wanda in the japanese version, which also sounds like he could be a she) is a male character. I seriously cannot tell; He/she has feminine appearance (in my opinion), voice that could be both (also in my opinion).
Sorry about that, the fact that I didnât even know is the person Iâm controlling a seriously bad-ass woman with some very serious gripping power or just your average male hero kinda distracted me during the whole game. AnywayâŠ
You are Wanda (I prefer it that way). You travel a long way on horseback to the forbidden lands, where no being should ever set foot on, for it is the home of the ancient colossi. But your will to save the one you care about is high enough to even cross the myths. Head to the Shrine of Worship, where you may pray for resurrection from Dormin. You carry a legendary blade that is the only one capable of defeating colossi. You make a deal with Dormin. You must defeat the sixteen colossi in the forbidden lands, only then you will be able to save Mono.
Gameplay: Surprisingly addicting despite itâs simpleness as an adventure game.
Seriously, how can a game with nothing else to do other than searching for colossi (which you are guided to by the light from your sword) and killing them one after another, become one of the most iconic video games of all time. Especially when the gameplay is based entirely on boss fights! Bosses are rarely fun, and yet this game is full of them. But somehow, Team Ico has accomplished making the bosses work as a piece of puzzles, and still make you really enjoy slaughtering those giant beasts once youâve gotten your tiny body to their weak spots. What really bugged me the most and almost ruined the game for me (for that night especially when I just wanted to get through it in one go) was the difficulty stepping way up when you get to the last colossus. Otherwise I can say that if youâve got any decent platforming skills, it should be possible to play though without any ragequits or game overs for that matter.
Graphics: Thirty shades of grey with a glampse of green.
The thing about Shadow of the Colossus that sort of appealed to me was the colours. âWhat colours??â you ask me? Thatâs exactly about it, there are no colours. The greyness of this game blends perfectly with the style itâs meant to be. Depressing and sad. Thatâs how I see it. I find the game being extremely well made landscapewise. The forbidden lands truly are massive and beautiful, just like itâs inhabitants (âŠ). Being originally developed for the PlayStation 2, the game looked great and with the remaster for the PlayStation 3, itâs as sharp and stunning as Wandaâs sword.
Soundtrack: High quality audio. May I ask, what language is that?
I find voice acting in Shadow of the Colossus quite fine even though I cannot understand a thing theyâre saying. The language they speak fascinates me, and it even moreso fulfills the atmosphere of an unknown world.
As with the greyness of this game, I really fancy the fact that thereâs no music outside of cutscenes and battles. Makes me really feel alone and, yeah.. depressed. Not that Iâm a depressed person myself, I just really like it when they go really grim.
Cinematics: Feels like a movie, until you kill some giants and hurray, it again feels like a movie.
Team Ico really know how to put their scenes together. Great story with amazing atmosphere, Iâm sad there were no more cutscenes to watch.
Conclusion: What is there left to say? Shadow of the Colossus is a masterpiece and an essential classic for all varied gamers out there. 10 out of 10.
The game is made so simple, yet deep and atmospheric, that itâs actually very addicting to play, and itâs about 8 hours long! So, if youâve got a me-day to spend destroying your eyes, play Shadow of the Colossus.
Watch the trailer here and buy the game from the PSN Store (Whadda'ya know, you get ICO included!) or find someone who sells it. Not that common to find at your average video game retailer, at least where I live.

VA-11 HALL-A: A Cyberpunk Bartender ActionÂ
(Or as some announce it: Waifu Bartending)
Have you ever considered being a bartender? Have you ever wanted to be in the other side of the bar counter? Have you ever wanted to listen some stories as a stranger? Are you looking for a game to relax? If you answered yes to all or even 1 question, then you should (maybe) read this review and try this game out.
So I was browsing games one day from the sale and I was thinking to get few games that are relaxing and doesnât need so much thinking and working in them. I had already decided to buy few games and I was like âI should maybe check the new games category â. Then I saw this game and imminently thought this game looks interesting and wishlisted it without buying it. Several months after this, I was looking into new Humble bundles and saw this âOverwhelmingly Positive Bundleâ with this game on it and without thinking, I bought the bundle. Moments later I was taking few drinks and after a sauna, I thought that I should try this game, so hereâs a little review of it!
Story: A bartender who listens and tells tales to customers while making drinks
This is only a little briefing about the story.
In Glitch city, year 207X A.D., you can find a woman named Jill, working in the Hall A of the BTC-certified bar coded VA-11, or as commonly known as Valhalla. She is a bartender in this not-so known bar and mixes drinks for customers, if there ever is any. She encounters few famous and mysterious people along the way and gets involved into some business with them. She is âfriendly strangerâ (As she says it at some point) to them and listens to their problems and sometimes tells her own stories. Jill really needs to make money for rent, membership payments and other expenses so she wonât have any choice, but be a bartender. Va-11 Hall-A has multiple endings and multiple tasks so full story can change at some point.
Gameplay: Talking simulator with some bartending action.
VA-11 HALL-Aâs gameplay is simple, just listen to the story of the customers and make them drinks. You make drinks by following a recipe book and using a mixer. Each day has its cycle, day starts you waking up from your apartment and ends after you leave from your workplace. At the end of each day, you will get payment based on the work and drinks you have served to the customers. If you do good work each day, you will see a little bonus payment in paycheck. Your home serves as a savepoint and âhubâ, where you can choose to do things before work. With the money you get, you can go to shop and buy things your character Jill wants and things you want for Jill. You can also use your phone to save, read news and forum threads etc. There is also different kind of things you need to do as game progress. First and most important thing you must do is to save +800$ for membership payment/rent. As the game progresses, the goals and customers change.
Visuals: Classic pixelated 2D artstyle
Even for 2D pixelated artstyle, VA-11 HALL-A looks amazing and unique. The tiny pixelated details in the bar are so beautiful and makes the game feel cyberpunky.
Soundtrack: Amazing soundtrack for indie game!
VA-11 HALL-1 soundtrack is a mix of everything with a cyberpunky feeling. There is relaxing, cheering, charming and mysterious soundtracks to suit your bartending gameplay. You can change the music any time from the music app on your phone (while youâre home) or from the jukebox at the bar (where you can make 12 track playlist for every workday). I have the full OST bought and I have saved every single track to my huge playlist.
Conclusion: 8/10 For a +20-hour game (If you take your time), There is a nice batch of story and relaxing gameplay in it.
In 20 hours, you can experience a nice story, relaxing gameplay and beautifully introduced and executed characters. I still hoped there wouldâve been something more to do in it, but there wasnât. I hope the maker(s) of this game will make new content or a sequel to this game, because this was stunningly beautiful and nice experience to have.
Purchase the game HERE (Steam), HERE (GoG) or HERE (Humble Bundle)

Leaving (sort of)
I am planning on moving to ireview.tumblr.com and be posting stuff there beside the reviews. Primarily Iâll be concentrating in writing reviews and making videos again on youtube to grow âJoyologyâ as soon as I get to resurrect my dear iPhone. If you havenât seen the initial trilogy i made, and got 2 minutes to spare, click here.
With all that said, people who are interested in my stuff and therefore follow this blog, go follow the ireview one.
Humans, they will run into every door they encounter. They will push every button they see. They will grab every object they come across. And, if they have a buddy, they will squeeze the hell out of their body and make them fall. Sounds kinda erotic.
Yeah, itâs christmas (at least it was when I wrote this) and whatâs a better way to satisfy your button fingers than getting a friend to ass around with and playing some Human Fall Flat. The game by No Brakes Games was released in 2016 for all PC platforms.
Story: His name is Bob.
Bob is just human. Bob is whatever you want him to be.
Actually yeah, there is a story. Bob the builder is having strange recurring dreams in which he is falling constantly. His dreams are built on his daily experiences and memories. You must help Bob solve the riddles of his dreams.
Gameplay: What can you not do in this game? Seriously, Iâm climbing a 90 degree wall upwards and steering a large cruiser!
What Human: Fall Flat presents exactly represents is the handiness of humans.. Or not. You have two hands to control and grab things with. Your camera angle determines where your hands are pointed. With those two handy hands you can lift things, operate levers and steering wheels, climb and drag and push objects surprisingly precisely. Literally, if you have the skills, you can climb a straight wall for an eternity.
This kind of game deserves to be flavoured with some sweet modding and homemade levels. The game itself is too short and includes eight different styled levels, three of which are tutorial levels of sort. The main objective is to find the âemergency exitâ in every level. The levels itself vary from construction sites to old medieval castles, there really is a lot of locations to explore, since the game does not set any kind of rules, just free imagination. Although, as I mentioned the game only includes eight levels. Just when it starts to really get interesting (not gonna spoil it) itâs already over..
Rarely Iâve been this woeful seeing the end credits. So yeah.. Please mod this game and make homebrew levels come true!
Graphics: So simple it works. Simply.
Human: Fall Flat is no eye candy. Textures are non-existant and colors are usually very greyish. It looks bland and depressive depending on the person, but it kinda works. Sure, there could be some degree of detail applied here and there, but itâs not really a downside. The characters itself are hilarious, and if youâre playing co-op with a friend I swear youâre going to mess around with each other a long while, jumping on your asses and grabbing each other intensively before actually getting into the game.
I wish I had realized it sooner, but you can actually paint your character inside out.
Soundtrack: A couple of flexible, almost drunk like naked personnel going about messing with facility buildings, how sadâŠ
I like the soundtrack of this game, itâs not much but some enjoyable songs as you progress. The characters itself donât make any kind of sound, just a sticky footstep when walking.
The first thing I noticed when started playing this was the sad ambience music in the background, it really didnât quite blend in.
Cinematics: â
Conclusion: 9 out of 10. A really fun game to play with a buddy. Only con is the shortness of this game and not having a steam workshop support from the developers.
But seriously though, if youâre about to pick up Human: Fall Flat, do it with a buddy, makes it so much more worth it. If youâre into crazy physic-based video games with puzzles and total freedom, not mentioning funky characters, grab it on steam.
Purchase the game and watch the trailer here.

This is a review of GTA Online. If you havenât read the review about GTA 5, read it first HERE
Grand theft auto, that little game, where you run around the city as you like, either killing people or being âa nice guyâ. There was always just one problem, you couldnât do it with friends. GTA San Andreas had console only co-op free roam mode and multiplayer mode on PC, and those were only options, if you wanted to play with friends (P.S. No one wants to speak about GTA IV Multiplayer). They were nice at the time, but we wanted more. Start of the year 2012 they announced new GTA game, with promised multiplayer experience with new gameplay and we couldnât be ever more hyped than then. Then they released GTA 5 and GTA online few months later on the PS3 and Xbox 360. It was a huge success like every GTA game ever and Online mode was something we have not seen before in GTA.
Story: Youâre the gangster now! Rule the Los Santos!
The story starts with you arriving to Los Santos International Airport, where you are greeted by Lamar, who is a âgoodâ friend of Franklin in singleplayer mode. Lamar takes you to a little tour around the city and takes you to the place, where the race is starting. Lamar wants you to join the race, which introduces you to the racing missions. After the race, Lamar makes you fetch something and deliver it to the Gerald, who is a drug dealer and Lamarâs boss. This introduces you to the âFetch and deliverâ missions. Gerald will also be your first mission contact boss. After meeting Gerald, Lamar makes you to go to get some new clothes and after that, your online story in GTA Online begins!
Gameplay: GTA singleplayer experience in multiplayer, with multiple people!
Gameplay and controls doesnât really differ from the GTA 5, but after missions and heists, you will get RP and money (RP standing for Reputation Points) which will help you advance and unlock new things. There are multiple missions to choose from to earn RP and money. There is Racing missions, âFetch and deliverâ missions, car stealing missions, Destruction and killing missions etc. Heist missions will be given by different bosses, who will plan it out for you. Heists have different stories in them and will be executed with other online players, or with your own party of friends. Heists usually have the planning phase, where you gather the equipment for the heist and execution phase, where you execute the heist with given plan.
In GTA Online, when roaming around the city, online players can kill each other without any penalty or players can use their money to make bounty on other players to appear as hitman targets. Whoever kills the target first, gets the money!
Conclusion: 9/10 This is what GTA multiplayer shouldâve always been!
There is nothing else to ask for! GTA Online is the GTA multiplayer experience we have always wanted. It has multiple hours of stuff to do alone and with friends itâs even more addicting and rewarding. Rockstar adds more content every now and then, meaning there will always be new stuff to do for you and your friends. Only bad thing about this is your connection. If you donât have decent internet connection, donât even think playing online.
Purchase the GTA 5 here or search it from your local game store.

Grand Theft Auto, Iâm pretty sure we all know the one. Grand Theft Auto is the vastly developed, long-timed series that combines the subtle features of sandboxing, driving, shooting and adventuring. Many kids wish to play this because it feels so cool to do whatever you can.
The many many releases behind, here comes Grand Theft Auto 5, or should I say GTA V. I personally didnât feel an urge to get it but as soon as the hype intensified near the release, I didnât have a choice but to buy it as well.
Grand Theft Auto V was released on 17th of September 2013 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This was the first disappointment for the large audience of PC players. The enhanced version is to be released on November 18th 2014 to Playstation 4 and Xbox One, but the PC release got delayed once again not earlier than April 2015.
Story: Classic Grand Theft Auto style plot, but with protagonists getting in deep with each other and also with the rest of the world. The idea of a prologue and history in characterwise was refreshing.
It all begins with the prologue of M, T and B robbing a local bank in Ludendorff, North Yankton. This concludes B and M getting shot. B (Brad) becomes arrested and T (Trevor Phillips) running for his life as more and more law officers show up. M (Michael Townley) ends up faking his death and changing his persona to Michael De Santa. He moves to the big city, Los Santos with his family and leaving his old crew.
In Los Santos, San Andreas (The smallest state there ever was) we get introtused to a new character, repo-jobbing Franklin Clinton. Franklin gets to know Michael. As Michael begins to dream the big money once again, he begins to run some big operations and comes back together with some old friends. Trevor finds out Michael is indeed alive and when he gets his hands on Michael, wouldnât he want to become a part of the scores. GTA V is first in the series to present multiple playable characters.
Meet Franklin: Franklin Clinton is the âreasonableâ one of the trio. He is the one that gets the âThis ainât rightâ feeling but still is as criminal as the other two. He is often pressured to choose between his downtown homies and his new crime partners. Franklin is introduced at the very beginning after prologue. If you are not familiar with the idea of three playable characters, switch between characters at the very beginning may confuse you. I know it was confusing to me.
Meet Michael: Being the father of a good-for-nothing fat gamer son, Jimmy and the "doing-anything-for-fame" daughter, Stacey, the life at De Santa resident is no ordinary life. Not even mentioning about his cheating wife Amanda, no wonder Michael is so cold hearted. But deep inside, he wants good for his family. Michael De Santa is the planner and the initiative member of the crew. His profit-lust makes him un-retire and get back into business. Not spoiling anything (though everyone has already played through this game) but Michael could've been better off without ever meeting up with Trevor, they got some complicated history.
Meet Trevor: Now this guy is nuts. He has some problems comprehending with people and often just killing anyone in his way, especially business rivals. He runs a company, the âTrevor Phillips Industriesâ which is mostly drug and firearm deliveries by planes. Assisted by Ron and Wade, Trevor has made multiple enemies across country and has become a public enemy. Does he care none? No. Trevor seems to have a thing about screwing anyone. You might find him doing some private stuff with almost anybody. He cherishes all women possible and can be a sensitive person, especially when it comes to his mother. Otherwise heâs pretty obliged on harassing everyone, both physically and mentally. When switching to Trevor, you might find him in some absurd scenarios, like waking up with a hangover wearing nothing but his underpants on a beach with a dozen bodies.
Gameplay: You'll sink countless hours into this masterpiece, but nothing is perfect. Some things were better in earlier entries in the series. Grand Theft Auto V was the first game in the series that really felt like a true open-world game.
Thereâs just so much to tell about this game, both good and bad. My opinion is that this game was a little too hyped because even though itâs an amazing game with a lot of play hours to enjoy, there were some disappointments and just from the amount of excitement everyone gave into it, i expected a little more.
To me, this game focuses too much on shooting people and driving around. There is a beautifully designed nature environments out there, Rockstar didnât utilize this. Sure thereâs a couple of missions and other past-time hobbies there but the way I see it, itâs kind of a waste of some good work. It just isnât done so like you want to spend time there in the wilderness. Itâs all in the city life. But this is the feature Grand Theft Auto has had in it the whole time so I donât know if itâs a good or a bad thing. I just wished more from Blaine County.
The wanted star system is a very good advancement, but has some irritating issues. For example, imagine a situation where you leave your character idling and there happens to be a cop nearby. So what, right? No. If you stare at a cop for some time, you get a star. Well then, you immediately think of escaping. When you start running away, you get an another star. Driving away you find out that it begins spawning cops possibly right in front of you. This sucks because when you get out of their sight, they get a âsight coneâ which indicates their vision. And the evading time is something ridiculous.
For once, the game makes it difficult to evade stars if you're on the move, so if there's a bit more heat going on, you're stuck to hiding in alleys and other shady areas. In a game like GTA, you would want to get rid of the lawforces quickly. This is not possible because itâs takes the minimum of about thirty seconds to evade even one star. It sounds like such a short time, but when you are just trying to play and you keep getting those wanted stars, you find yourself hiding quite often just trying to get the cops off of you. Most ridiculous one is when you have high enough wanted level to get chased by helicopters, if you are on a helicopter yourself, evading the stars gets close to impossible. They keep spawning right in front of you and donât ever stop. If not for the city skyscrapers, evading those pilots would be impossible.
The driving mechanics are one of the best there is. I remember the first times playing, driving was just so satisfying. I donât mean itâs not still, but you get rather familiar with it. Collision detection and car crashes make the vehicles too heavy in my opinion. You could crash a car going 200Â km/h and it would only slide for about ten metres. I donât mind really, but itâs so different compared to earlier Grand Theft Auto entries, like San Andreas and Vice City. In those games you got the satisfaction of making an NPC car blast off when you hit them.
There are many activities and games other than going through the storyline or terrorizing the city in free mode. There are tennis, yoga, taxi driving missions, darts, going to the movies, playing golf, call and hang with your friends, hunting, the rollercoaster and ferris wheel, collecting hidden items all around San Andreas, doing tasks for strangers and freaks, parachuting, racing by land, sea and air, taking the flight school, surfing the web, walking and playing with your dog, taking rides in a taxi, submerging and scuba diving.
As you can see, there are quite a lot of stuff to do other than missions. Only one problem, most of these are just plain boring. I mean, come on, yoga? And itâs always the same thing. Where are the vigilante and other emergency missions? How about the arcade machines from San Andreas?
In GTA V, you can get drunk, but they removed the ragdoll effect. You canât do much on the internet. Street Racing gets kind of pointless when you have Franklinâs ability to slow time, of course this is depends on the player. I loved how in GTA 4 (IV) the taxi drivers, if you told them to hurry up, they did. The amusement park contraptions are the worst. Parachute jump doesnât give me the intense daredevil feeling like it should, but parachutes are really neat generally.
They could have made the underwater world more useful, because Iâm loving it! The secrets down there, all those sunken ships and planes in the bottom. Thereâs quite a few easter eggs below the surface, too. The biggest disappointment was that thereâs no sea monster. It would have been awesome when you wander off too far from the island and you hear some crumbling in the distance. Next thing you know, thereâs an enormous whale eating you alive. Just writing this gives me the chills, but itâs just my fantasy. The underwater world is not used properly enough, only major purpose is when submerging in two different missions and collecting submarine parts and nuclear waste. Thatâs pretty much all there is to it.
Graphics: As of 2013, hardware limitations restricted this game from being the most realistic-looking video game up to date! Even today, the graphics are still stunning.
First of all, what Iâd like to point out is that the AMOUNT OF DETAIL in this game is incredible. The houses, all the small stuff everywhere. If you were to seach every little detail in San Andreas state, be sure to say good bye to all your relatives. Must I say, this game probably has the best looking explosions to date. I just feel like I'm just saying the same thing over and over again, but my point is that the game is very well made and I tip my small tophat to the leading art team.
Soundtrack: Classic thing for Rockstar to include a bunch of in-game radio stations with licensed songs. The game itself includes incredibly high quality sound effects and voice acting. Being a multi-million company, that's no surprise.
Not much to say about the music in GTA V. Thereâs pretty much something for everyone considering the genre-sorted radio channels. The songs picked for this game are not exactly up to date. Of course, due to copyright and budget reasons, Rockstar wasnât able to include much music from todayâs lists, so weâll have to deal with the old-school gems. I just wish theyâd include a feature for one to add their own playlist from external devices.
As usual for high companies, sound effects ranging from vehicles to voice acting is top notch. Much like done in graphics, GTA V is as realistic as it gets (not gameplay-wise).
Cinematics: With Rockstar's large budget, it doesn't matter whether you're watching a GTA V cutscene or an acted scene with real people. Perhaps I'm exaggerating, but I know many people such as myself enjoyed not skipping through the story.
Really I don't have anything to tell you about the cutscenes other than they match the quality of the Last of Us and Metal Gear Solid 4 (or any other MGS for that matter), just to name a few.
Conclusion: 9 out of 10. A must buy game for anyone mature enough to handle the freedom of doing anything without responsibilities. Grand Theft Auto V is really the video game you can do anything in. I reduced one point on the final score because of the dull activities in this game.
As much as I enjoyed this game, it does not rise over the original San Andreas. It is most likely out of nostalgia, but I feel like San Andreas had more interesting activities and minigames. If you were to combine GTA V's game engine and graphics into San Andreas and somehow merge the two worlds together, that would be the greatest thing ever.
I apologise for the review being rushed, but I really had no time (being the lazy ass I am) and most of this article was written two years ago. I know I really shouldn't be sorry.
Purchase the game on Steam here or search your local video game dealer.
Bob will be back with us on thursday with a little extension review regarding Grand Theft Auto Online. Be sure to check it out! Next monday we'll get back on normal schedule.

Oh good olâ point and click adventure games... They will never get old even if game industry is striving to make more and more realistic games to be played. There will always be indie companies making them and they are our little time wasters in our big game libraries.
Deponia is no exception. When I first saw the trailer of new game made by Daedalic Entertainment, I was taken away by it. I had to get it. I was not working at the time because of the school and getting money for games from parents was difficult.Time went on and on and I never got change to buy it. Then, about 6 months ago, I was looking game sales and other game related news, where I saw a new game trailer of âDoomsday Deponiaâ, and after I watched it I instantly remembered Deponia. And so I bought Deponia: The Complete Journey and finished it straight away in a (almost) single playthrough.
Story: 4th wall breaking and funny story with a spice of references
Game starts with you doing tutorial, which tells you how to play the game. After the tutorial, there is a nice little song sung by The Chorus Guys, and after that the real game begins. You seem to play as Rufus, who is a bit braindead and a selfish guy. Rufus has become tired to live besides the endless mountains of junk and wants to escape the place called Deponia to place named Elysium, which he has a plan for that you need to execute. Rufusâs plan seems to misfire and new adventure through Deponia to Elysium shall begin! Story has some nice âplot-twistsâ (Wink wink) and 4th wall breakers, which makes the story and game even more fun. You will encounter memorable characters throughout the story like Elysium girl Hope, Wenzel (Rufusâs âsidekickâ), Captain bozo (The captain of a garbage trawler) and Cletus (Goal's fiancĂ©). Deponia: The Complete Journey has all 3 main trilogy games (Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia) combined into one for those, who wants to full experience the game and the story as a whole.
Gameplay: Point and click game, do I have to say more?
Its point and click adventure with an inventory to store all the items to. In Goodbye Deponia, there is also â3 Rufus Gameplayâ which will expand the inventory game even more, because you need to trade items with other Rufuses.
Graphics: Simple drawn 2D art style that makes the game unique
The art style in this game makes it look fantastic, even if the background usually consist junk. Even the junk looks nice. There are so many yet simple little details hidden in background that can go unnoticed if you donât look carefully.
Soundtrack: Simple soundtrack that fits to the game
Every place in Deponia has its own fitting soundtrack, which makes the world beautiful and explorable. The Chorus Guys will sing a song after every segment of the story and tell a little briefing what has happened and what is about to happen, which makes the game even more memorable.
Cinematics: There is few 2D art style animated cutscenes and some dialogue with gameplay animations
Every little animated cutscene is in right place and even in some of them are little hidden refrences and easter eggs. Detail in the cutscenes doesnât change from the game world art style and because of that, the cutscenes feel more natural.
Overall: 8/10 Typical point and click adventure with nice story and memorable characters
Thereâs nothing else to say to it. Itâs a well done point and click adventure game and if youâre interested in games like âDay of the Tentacleâ, âThe Secret of the Monkey Islandâ or âGrim Fandangoâ,then this game is an experience for you!

Xenoblade Chronicles. This new-age Japan RPG did it's score on the Wii 2010 in Japan and 2011 the rest of the world. Xenoblade Chronicles changed the way we look at the genre as a whole. Well.. Perhaps not that much, though it revolutionized the way combat and storytelling can be executed in a RPG (I haven't played that many RPGs before so I don't really know that well how much of an impression it did to the genre). Maybe you're heard of it? Due to little amount of shipping was made, not all could experience it. Hell, even I became aware of it through Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS. Kind of reminds me of Earthbound and it's marketing restrictions back in the day.
Story: An unique story with twists and betrayal and memorable characters. Get ready to see the world and relationships really escalate into something unforgettable.
"Two great titans came into existence. The Bionis and the Mechonis. The titans were locked in a timeless battle, until at last... Only their lifeless bodies remain."
This is a story about the civilization living on the lifeless titans. Story of the conflict between Homs and Mechon.
"Our journey evolves around our beloved 18-year old to be hero, Shulk. As he tries to solve the mystery of Monado, a blade that's said to be the sword of the Bionis itself, he's forced to take action against the engaging Mechon forces and ultimately protect all life on Bionis with his friends. Not everything and everyone is what it seems like. You don't want to miss on this legendary tale. Join Shulk and his friends and explore Bionis to gather friends to destroy the evil Mechon army and save the world!" (not citated from the game)
Didn't I sound like a movie trailer narrator? Good. But yeah, that's in short about Xenoblade Chronicles.
Gameplay: Fresh combat system that differs from the traiditional turn-based attacking. Classic RPG-gameplay with lots of content and an interesting world. With around 470 quests to complete, it offers a lot of game hours but could get repetitive.
What makes Xenoblade Chronicles special for me was the unique battle system. At least to me it was rather unique. You basically approach a foe and initiate battle. The battle itself happens automatically with your character auto-attacking the enemy, simple ain't it? But then you have "Arts", which are basically character- based skill attacks, auras, buffs and healing spells. These arts are learned progressively throughout the game and can be leveled with points got from fighting monsters. Each character also has their own "Talent Art", such as attracting an enemy's attention, a combo attack, or using Monado Arts. When using arts and just battling in general fills the Party Gauge which, when filled, can be used to execute a chain attack. In chain attack, each character uses one of their arts to deal as much damage as possible.
For example, you could perform chain attack with using the same type arts consecutively which multiplies the damage dealt to an enemy, or try to topple it which makes it unable to attack for a short period of time. You can only attack one enemy at a time while in a chain attack. What makes the battle system so different to traditional RPGs is the combination of a sense of turn based fighting and free movement. At first when I began playing for the first time, I mistakenly shook my Wii remote in order to attack. No wonder I thought the controls were unresponsive, heh.
Like any game of it's genre, Xenoblade too has it's own share of quests and oh boy, are there a few. With over 450 quests in total, for a game of the size of Xenoblade that's more than enough. Most of the quests are not really that interesting, fetch missions and hunt a couple of this and that type of creatures. In my own personal case, I missed a couple hundreds of them in my first playthrough. Not all quests are fetch or kill missions, many of them involve NPC charcters' relationships with others. By doing quests, you're often helping people getting along with each other, which can be seen in the "Affinity Chart".
The Affinity Chart is a large diagram of sorts which shows not only every named NPC that you've talked to, but also their relationship with other NPCs you've talked to. When you talk to people, they may have a grudge against someone or perhaps envy them. They usually then offer you a quest to help with their problems with other people.
The Affinity Chart doesn't just focus around NPCs, but also your own party members. By battling, handing items as presents, viewing Heart-to-Hearts and just by discussing quests with an NPC increases your affinity level between party members. With high affinity comes the ability for one character to share skills (stat boosts basically) with others.
There's also many things I have not talked about yet, such as gem crafting, items and equipments in general, achievements (yes, it has a ton of achievements), superbosses and enemies, level design and dificulty, just to name what comes to mind at the moment.
Let it be said about progressing through the game, do the quests. Seriously. Like mentioned, I missed a bunch of them. But, they help you level up at a steady pace and collect money. At times, I found myself grinding because I couldn't beat some boss, being underleveled. And I think Xenoblade does leveling really well if you don't rush too much, not having to grind anywhere in the game except maybe at the end.
Graphics: Due to the Wii's limitations, textures can be found blurry and the models polygon-ish but still colorful and appealing. It's not always about the sharpest graphics, because this game looks great. But seriously, look at all the environments they used!
I have seen many cases in which people complain about the graphics. In my opinion, the graphics don't matter that much. Of course how the game looks, it helps to attract people to play it. Though I think the game really looks beautiful and that they managed to keep it that way when importing to the New 3DS was really surprising for a game the size of Xenoblade. I'm not really sure whether this argument fits the category in question, but being on the giant body of a titan, the landscape doesn't make that much sense. Most of the time it doesn't feel like we're actually on the body of a giant organic/mechanical creature, but I really love the idea though. That's what got me playing so excitedly in the first place.
Another argument that I have to point out is the animation on Riki's or any other nopon's face while they speak, it doesn't fit that well in. And yet another point, is that they did not redo the GUI images for the New 3DS. Basically all the menu and inventory icons etc. look  really blurry.
Soundtrack: Flawless composing and voice acting with true emotions for once. As a score, one of the best video game soundtracks to date. Would and have definitely enjoyed beside playing the game.
My gratitudes for the whole cast for doing such a great job with the voice acting. Sure they shout all the time while midst battle, which can get a bit annoying sure, but overall, voice acting in this game is really superb. Pretty much the first time in a video game my mood is so drastically shifted based on the emotions in everyone's tone of voice. Anger is real anger, joy is real joy, many people doing voiceover for characters could really take a lesson from this team.
And I haven't even had the chance to talk about the music. Because I played such majority of this game a long while ago, I listened through the whole soundtrack once again.. and again. The music goes perfectly with all scenes and environments, I actually feel kinda bad I don't have anything bad to say about it. Somehow I feel that certain cutscenes that share the same soundtrack are timed to fit in the scenes the best way possible.
Cinematics: High quality scenes with great animations. You could literally watch through this as a 10 hour movie and still not miss any of the story, if you're not into long games.
I really wish they made this into a movie of some sort. Or no, squeezing this game into a feature length film would not do it justice. I cannot really say anything else about the cutscenes except that if you're into long stories with some serious plot twists and lots of memorable characters, please spare the time and watch the game. Or rather, play it.
Overall: 10 out of 10. A must play for all who value great RPGs and great storytelling as a piece of art.
With that said, I really don't have that much to complain about. Some cutscenes and conversations may come as cheesy to some viewers, but it's not much. Graphics are not really mind blowing, but still very likeable. I absolutely adored the storyline and the soundtrack. It was a really fun and memorable experience as a whole. To people who are not that familiar with RPG elements it may seem complicated, but Google is your dear friend and will help you as long as you have internet connection to feed him. Fortunately, the remaster for the New 3DS has a digital manual included. It will all become clear once you've gotten into it. Fair warning though, it may be addicting.

Today at work I had an idea that could save peopleâs lives! I ended up with this instead.
Request a title for us to review
To keep us busy, we need to make sure we have titles to review. Be sure to ask if you have a specific one in mind, we'll see what we can do about it.
Hey Tumblr! This will be my first review of the page to start a ânew adventureâ in Tumblr. I was thinking, what game I should review first and I stumbled myself playing âTransistorâ. So I thought why not make a start with it.
I picked up the game a year back from the humble bundle sale to play, but forgot it ever since, like all my other 300+ âI should really play these sometimeâ-games in my steam library. So for a new year, I was thinking, what should I do, should I start a new hobby or what. Then Mikkelson came to me and asked, would I like to join his âIReviewâ page to make reviews of games we play and I was like sure, why not, atleast now I have another âexcuseâ to start playing those games on steam.
Story: Red and her giant USB stick
Transistors story starts with one image, red haired girl weeping next to a man, who is stabbed to his chest with an unusual looking âswordâ. âHey Red. We are not going to get away with this are we?â the man asks, yet the girl canât answer to him and the game starts. Red haired girl is apparently named âRedâ in this game, yet you donât really know if that is her real name or not. The story progress by Red taking the âTransistorâ (is the name of the âswordâ [will be explained in the game]) off from the mans chest and you notice, the man is just a body, and only thing speaking is the âTransistorâ. I wonât explain more of the story because it would spoil so crucial plot points and we donât want that to happen, do we?
Story is basically an aftermath of events, that happened before the game. As the story goes, you are going to know what happened before the games events, why did they happen and why are you doing the things you do now.
Gameplay: âWow, this game has so many optionsâ To put it simple, itâs strategy game with RPG leveling system and its own mechanical gameplay.
Gameplay is pretty simple, yet strategic and rewarding. You will start the game with only 2 functions (which are abilities of kind), âCrashâ and âBreachâ, to navigate through the map and defeat enemies. As the game progress, you will get more functions to use, and these functions can be fused in âaccess pointsâ to create more powerful combinations or used as passive buffs to defeat your foes. Access points are save points of sort, where you can change your functions and see, âwhoâ (Explained in the game) these functions are for more story reveal. Â This is where the strategic parts come to life.
Every fight has its own âfighting arenaâ, where you have to defeat all the foes to proceed to the next parts of the map. When fighting, you can either use your functions normally or you have this special ability blatantly called âplanningâ, which stops the time for you to make your âplanâ and execute it. In âplanningâ, you have limited power usage, which goes down when you move or use your functions. Longer movements and different functions drain more power from the âplanningâ. When you have planned your next moves, either by using all the energy or just activating the âplanâ again, Red will execute the plan in real time, while enemies are slowed by the âplanâ.
If the game feels too easy after few hours of playing, every now and then when you level up, you are granted these âLimitersâ which will increase the experience gain and add some difficulty to your gameplay.
Graphics: Extremely astonishing background and artstyle
Transistor has pretty colorful and artistic style in it, like every game made by Supergiant Games. Its stunning and beautiful experience for every indie gamer out there.
Soundtrack: *Humming intensifies*
Composed by Darren Korb, it takes breath away with its unique and relaxing futuristic Sci-fi like music, which is perfectly used in combat and cinematics alike. Special effects were used just right, excluding few effects that couldâve been used a little better or not at all.
Cinematics: Postcards, Postcards everywhere
There is no cinematic movies of any kind, but there is these images that has effects, which are kind of post loading card with dialogue. They are beautifully done and I would even put few of them hanging in my walls. I still hoped there would be some kind of cinematic movies, but these images were perfect for the art style.
Conclusion: 8/10 Great story for indie game, beautiful game in its own merits.
It was fun to play through Transistor, but it didnât have such an impact as Bastion did when I first played it, which kinda made me think what Supergiant Games next game will be like. I hope someday they will make a new Transistor kind of game.

Feels good to be back. This is a review I started still when I was reviewing and never finished. Let this be a welcome back gift.
Games are always changing. As new technology and more powerful processing makes it's way to reality, video games can be played differently and they look even more realistic by the year. Some of the games today, you can't really tell you're looking at a 3D model or a real human (or whatever it may be). But what about the past of gaming? Remember the step between 8 and 16 bit graphics? How about when they introduced us 3D polygons?
Evoland is the kind of game that reminds us of these things. It's a short adventure through the history of video game elements and visuals. Evoland actually kind of reminded me of DLC Quest with it's similiar gameplay, but instead of buying all the upgrades, you find them scattered all over in chests.
Story: It's not really memorable, buy average whatsoever.
We are Clink (Link basically, at least that's what it reminds me of) and we are set from nowhere to save the world. Got that? Okay, sounds simple enough. We'll team up with a girl named Kaeris and suddenly we have to save her village from the monsters, too? Behind all these monsters is this baddie, Zephyros. Sorry if I spoil it to you but it's really not an original plot. Basically we are the good guy and Zephyros is the bad guy.
Gameplay: Your standard turn-based combat RPG fun, for the most part. Upgrades made it worthwhile.
In Evoland, you start as a sharp-edged pixelboy in a black and white land with no sounds or anything whatsoever. You find chests, and what do these chests include? The evolution of gaming, of course. The beginning of the game is really interesting because of all the graphic enhancements. Unfortunately, you'll most likely acquire all the upgrades within the first hour which leaves you the last few hours of common adventure/action/rpg gameplay. It's really quite a disappoinment and waste of potential when you're rushing through the element which makes the game special. Fortunately, Evoland was not ruined with extensive gameplay hours. With it's price and amount of content, it was a nice and brief experience.
Anyways, this game is a mix of The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy (Some sources include Diablo as well, but I've never played it). As soon as you acquire a weapon, you're ready to slash all the bats and umm.. Piranha Plants, around the field. As every game, this also has collectables and secrets. You may find stars and "Double Twin"-cards. What cards?
Double Twin is an in-game card game which includes a number of moster cards with different values on each side of the card. In turns, both players fill a 3-by-3 grid with the cards you own and hope to defeat your opponents monsters by comparing the adjacent values. This was a simple fun card game that could've made it's way beyond Evoland.
Graphics: A mix of everything. The game hops way too quickly to the 3D graphics, which lasts for the rest of the game.
As hinted everywhere, this is why you want to play this game. I can't think of anything that hasn't been stated already. The evolution makes the graphics renew nicely. The 3D quality actually surprised me a bit, just a little bit. Just a shame we couldn't enjoy more of the older era pixels. I've never been complaining about the quality of graphics, so I've got no real complaints about how the game looks like itself. I always appreciate when they use colors.
Soundtrack: A few memorable tracks. Sound effects were nothing special.
One thing I got to point out is that the Field Theme in this game really reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Otherwise, I think the developers did a good job with this soundtrack overall. Must I say, though, that the songs could've been longer.
Cinematics: --
Conclusion: 8 out of 10. A fun short adventure with an unique idea and satisfacting music, I would not play for it's storyline.
I still wish Double Twin to become a thing, though. Can't wait to try Evoland 2.
Purchase the game and watch the trailer here.

Every makeover starts with step one.
New concept, more reviews and perhaps a co-writer!
I've been kind of missing writing reviews and such. As to I've been thinking of making this a duo project with a friend of mine. Been practising a new way of grading games and writing presentation. Expect to see more reviews in the future, and follow to motivate me. Hope to be of service! Merry christmas!
Serena
Here I am, scrolling through whatever Steam has to offer and I see a recommendation based on games I play. Even free, too. After finding out Serena doesn't take much to finish I decided to get on with it and see what it's like.
Story: 8
The game is about Serena and our fellow alone in the cabin, trying to clear his mind and wait for her. They had a blooming relationship and would come to this cabin every once in a while to get away from everything, just to be alone together. Maybe everything's not so clear after all..
Gameplay: 7
If you're not into point-and-click games or highly story-driven games, this is no place for you. I certainly had not high expectations on Serena due to it obviously being.. I don't want to say 'an amateur project' because the creators did a fine job on it, but it not being profitable. Also, because I knew this would probably be the type of game I would get tired with just because I'm not really much of a point-and-click player.
Serena mixes inspection kind of exploring and just sort of waiting things to happen, it's interesting. First off it might be boring just clicking stuff and hearing a commentary, because that's what it basically is. But after you get drawn in and find the right things, it's quite fascinating really. It has that absurd twist into it.
Graphics: 8
The cabin has that darkish feeling to it. Everything there is blandly colored and kind of creepy. I thought a couple of times this was gonna be a horror game and sometimes was a little scared to look behind me. Well, how any individual wants to mark it.. Fortunately it has it's own charm and blends in with the voiceover and atmosphere. Shame there's no way seeing outside the cabin, it could've been nice to feel the surroundings because it leaves a mystery where the cabin is exactly. Otherwise, the game looks fairly authentic to me.
Soundtrack: 9
Most of the game it's quiet. With the music I mean, our guy just keeps talking. Finally I find a freeware visual novel title where the voiceover is actually quality stuff. I'm going to say this a lot, but there's so many ways to screw up a voiceover, especially in games. Thankfully this crew had good recording equipment, because that's what you'll hear 90% of the time.
Cinematics: --
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Conclusion: 8.0
A nice, short tale to experience. Like I said it's not for everyone. In fact, I almost went to look for answers when I couldn't find how to continue, but I'm just glad I didn't. It starts a little slow but it gets more interesting along the way.
If you have any interest, please go see it yourself. After all, what have you got to lose, other than a small bit of your hard drive and an hour of your evening.
