ham-stor:Â
âOhâŠâ Hamstor followed and looked at what the mech had pointed out. It wasâŠa little overwhelming to say the least. She just wanted an idea of the happenings in this universe, but it seemed that wasnât gonna happen. Part of her thought this may be a sign to give up, maybe knowing all this wasnât worth it.
Wait, no! She had to learn this, or at the very least TRY to learn it! For one if she was gonna live here itâd be helpful, for two a better understanding of the bots shes trying to sell things to couldnât hurt and for threeâŠwell, there was someone sheâd hoped it help her better understand.
âO-ok..uh, thanks.â giving a gulp she went for the first pad near the right, but even on her tippy toes was unable to reach it.
Yeah, it was a little overwhelming, especially considering the strange method of organization. Envoy stood by with his arms crossed, should she need further assistance or should she decide this was a wasted endeavor. Disinterestedly Envoy shuffled some datapads on the opposite shelf, switching out a couple which had been out of order while he waited for her to make a decision.Â
His optics flickered back to Hamstor when she reached for the shelf. Starting all the way at the beginning, huh? This was going to be a long trip. Maybe even a series of trips, unless she was going to skip certain volumes. He thought that some of the personal journals were very dry, himself.Â
Envoy crossed the floor to her side and retrieved the first book, handing it down to Hamstor without a word.Â
đ [[ hi!! ]]
Lieutenant lolled his helm around to peer at the newcomer, tired expression on his faceplates. Curious yellow optics squinted at the Cybertronian in front of him, one brow ridge raised. Lieutenant shifted his slouched position in his seat, crossing his legs. His digits tapped on the glass he held in his working hand, grip loose and threatening to drop the cube and let it smash to pieces on the table surface. âHey there. Need somethinâ?âÂ
âOnly to ask a question.â Envoy settled into a seat across the table, propping his head up in one hand, and he continued, âExactly how many have you had, and when do you think it would be smart to stop? Because my shanix is on three glasses ago.â Heâd noticed the way the otherâs head and hand lolled, and had started to worry. It was only when the issue went unaddressed that heâd approached.Â
ham-stor:Â
She waved when his face came into view, a toothy smile. Hamstor was always one to be friendly to new people, besides maybe itâd make him more likely to help her out here.
âOhâŠok, well uh, Iâm sort of new around here and was wondering if there were history books, about the war and all that stuff I guess.â She scratched her helm. âI donât know, just something to wort of quickly catch me up on this universeâs history I guess?â
Envoy noted that the bot seemed amiable enough, though it wouldâve done little to change his service either way. The question wasnât strange--- a few neutrals had come in with similar requests, having been absent during the war itself, and theyâd at least seemed satisfied with their findings. Envoy stood and rounded his desk. âNot necessarily books--- though Iâll bet there will be soon. Follow me.â Where they didnât have any books on the war, in the strictest sense, the library had stocked copies of personal journals, faction movements, among other wartime miscellanea. There wasnât a lot of unbiased historical recording happening during, but he was sure they had stocked some pre-war texts and vids as well.Â
âWeâve been taking donations, sometimes paying for accounts of different events of significance. Itâs not scattered so much as it is separated. You wonât find a crash course in here, but Iâm sure youâll find something.â The section of shelves he stopped beside was loosely packed, organized by date rather than alphabetically for the convenience of patrons. Many of the journals were from relative no-names, which meant that searching for a specific event wouldâve been an absolute slog otherwise. âPre-war is top right, most recent bottom left. Most are opinionated, and even the ones that arenât have a faction bias, but itâs information.â

ham-stor:Â
Finally Hamstor found the place! Sheâd been asking around town for weeks where she could find a library or an archives center, no one seemed to know; some knew there WAS one but not were it was. Guess bots around here didnât have much of an interest in reading..Well, canât say she blames em.
To be perfectly honest she usually wasnât the reading type herself, when she did it was usually magazines or comics, cheesy novels on occasion, stuff you can find at most shops or even just download onto a blank datapad. But what she needed now was not so easy to get her hands on.
Coming in the small, fur covered bot approached the front desk, barely able to reach it she knocked on the side of it to try and get the workerâs attention.
âUhâ She cleared her intake. âExcuse me, could I get a little help finding something?â
He found himself looking up before looking down, rising out of his chair incrementally until he could see the little bot over the edge of the desk. He set the datapad heâd been cataloguing down beside his keyboard. He supposed that this was also his job, and even one of its less aggravating duties. Envoy leaned his crossed forearms heavily on the desktop and emitted a low exvent, answered dryly, âIf we have it.â Rather cryptic, certainly not the standard of patron service the library sought to achieve, but Envoy wasnât one to act any part.Â
@ham-stor
For the limited selection they had--- Envoy had seen libraries before, and this collection was almost insignificant in comparison ---it was a chore to replace datapads and other miscellanea when they were returned. Most made it back to the return slot or to a cart, but every corner turned revealed a volume left on a table or short section of shelving. Heâd come in that afternoon to find a handful of discarded datapads in a box outside of the libraryâs doors. While he was sure somebody appreciated the donations, he also knew that there were proper channels which didnât involve quite as much work on his part.Â
Those donations, and he had to believe that they were donations for lack of any better idea, sat some feet away from him on the desk. His actual job occupied his time, presently. Envoy pulled two datapads from the return slot and re-submitted them to the database as âavailableâ before setting them on the cart to his left. Each was meticulously placed, perfectly upright, if only to elongate the time between performing this mindless task and replacing them on their proper shelves. He was thoroughly absorbed in his work, finding comfort in the rhythm it allowed, and so didnât notice the doors opening.

â   I like a lot of things âŠÂ   âÂ
Q: Would you raise to the bait? Test open waters in hopes to drown? The question is, do you enjoy drowning?
Orionâs smile is all too coy, rarely given and rarely seen in the quiet of his hab. He mimics the phrase once too often, digits tracing the outer curves of the datapad and he pauses as glossa dips to swipe across curled lips in thought. Oh, he thought this a cruel trick indeed. If anything to tease him evermore, to rock under his plating and see him squirm. But perhaps he liked squirming.Â
â   Thatâs such a vague response, Mr. Personality. But if weâre eating in, do you mind me eating you out?   â  He barely processes what heâs said, the play on words and rise to tease all too common and he chokes back a laugh, nervously rich.Â
